Looking for recommendation to replace tyre 205/50/R16. (For 2pc) notworthy.gif

Current
Front - Old Michelin Pilot Sport 4 205/50/16 <<<<<Want to replace this
Rear - 2024 Advan fleva V701 205/50/16

Any recommendation on tyre choices please?
Priority on
1. Safety, in dry and wet grip
2. Price (best bang for buck)
3. Doesn't really concern on noise or comfort

Almost to the thread depth (~2mm-3mm).
Looking for a good safety tyre.
Must be excellent in Wet condition, as we are having frequent rain here.
Don't care about longevity or noise.
Size 225/50/R17
Does the traction rating an "A" consider Excellent?

There is one class above Traction A, namely AA. Not sure how much different AA vs A.

For wet, Michelin no doubt

Any tyre recommendations on an excellent Wet condition with traction "AA".
Can't seems to find on our Michelin tyre website.

From this forum, I know that the new Primacy 5 is out. What is the traction? "A"?
Anyone using this Primacy 5 yet?

For 185/55R15. Looking between Toyo CR1 vs Goodyear Assurance Maxguard.. Which better? Both same price 220.

QUOTE(Optizorb @ Apr 25 2025, 03:40 PM)
so its true la then.. their tyre is cheap but they will tokok a lot nonsense as well.

so best is to just buy the tyre + balancing... alignment go somewhere else to do. and ignore whatever else they might tokok to you..

Guess I will go here then. Cause RM159 at oscar vs RM187 at shopee (after vouchers). RM28 diff per piece is big diff.

I also cant brain how come they can sell Goodyear Maxguard year 2025 so cheap..
*
Update: Got my Goodyear Assurance MaxGuard at Oscar.. 159/pc.. Manufacture Feb 2025. So its very new. Good pricing. Did alignment elsewhere. Watched over them like a hawk, they didn't try to upsell me anything cause earlier i was checking my suspension parts and break pads on my own after they removed the tyres. Also told them how i wanted my tyres to be rotated as well. So maybe I sounded like I know my shit so they didnt bother to try anything funny. The guy ahead of me got the infamous rim bengkok though.. They used machine to "prove" it to the owner, something similar to like the wheel balancing but its done with tyres off the rim.. No idea how true it is cause i never encountered that before. Was my first time seeing they using machine to detect rim bengkok..

Anyway onto the Goodyear AMG, pretty decent so far. Treadwear also a respectable 380, a major leap compared to Goodyear ATM2 with its pathetic 320 treadwear.. XM2+ is 420, even the Toyo CR1 is 360 only. So this Goodyear AMG should be able to last slightly longer than CR1. Overall quite satisfied for the price paid, seems like quite good value.
Other info on AMG: - made in indonesia, i thought it would be local. Supposedly have 5 years warranty but buy at Oscar they didnt give the Goodyear AWF warranty card. So only got shop warranty from Oscar.

Also this chart of ATM2 vs AMG, i can say its rather accurate so far..

Actually how long does a tire can last in malaysia climate?

My 4 years old Dunlop got side wall damage today. I don't remember hitting any potholes. Went to tire shop because I remember saw a nail sticking out last Friday, what I thought to be RM7 repair becum RM500 tire change lmao.

Got plenty of tire tread. This car I drive daily 80km.

Edit: nevermind, I actually remember 3 weeks ago I hit a sharp tiled curb at new office building. Not even going fast, just do slow uturn, but I didn't see it. lol.

Usually sidewall damage is irreparable. Any passenger car tires also same.

Wanna ask how much for good 265/35/18 per tyres will cost? Put michilen PS4/5 and toyo as benchmarking.

Hey guys,

As some of you have seen me posted before, I am a tire engineer working for one of the top 4 premium manufacturer. I write mostly about tires on my blog here https://toptirereview.com/. My ultimate goal is to enable consumers to make a more knowledgeable decision when it comes to buying tires and I hope I can do so by using my website as a medium of information.

Anyways, since I am bored and its Sunday, I would take questions related to tires.

Feel free to ask any questions in regards to tires and I will try to answer as good as I can.

Thanks!

Nop, i have to disagree if for modern allignment machines. Recently i bring my ride to do alignment and the shop latest alignment machine software got list out all the original tire size from the car model, when detected different size (especially larger size) will impact height = camber settings will off. Especially if knew lowered or tire size change, they will need to custom settings and cannot follow the original settings.

custom means how?
calculate back formula or just use generic parameter/ hide ori setup
