actually they produce and landed from our Intel , Penang factory since March 08 & few days during PC fair but with damn minimal quantity or i guess some1 is keeping the stock like u found at lelong.com.my. so that they can jag up the price

yeah....q6700 or q6600 is better if u are planning to OC high....

if normal usage just go for teh new penryn for energy saving n stock clock performance improvement lo....

but i wud still like to go for q6600 G0 at anytime

I'm not planning to OC, that's why I wanted Q9450 with its low power consumption and heat.

I wonder if the features of Q9450 will be used at the time being.. or Q6700 is good enough for 4-5 years ahead?

depand the usage.. hehehe from now on i think enough for 2 to 3 year.... and depand wat software u use

4-5 years could be a lil far according to the speed of technology improvement nowadays.... if u wana talk about quad-core utilisation... it will have to depends on what job u are using it on...whether it shud be video editing, F@h , bla bla bla....its more effective on doing multi-tasking jobs.... afaik if for gaming there are only few games like crysis n lost planet if i am not mistaken that utilises quad-core lo...

4 ~5 yrs down the road we will be having 8 core or 16 core according to intel and amd roadmaps........ but it all depends on urself

Quad core is future-proof for at least 3-4 years.. tat's why i'm waiting Q9450 future games will utilise quadcore technology.

Just got the Xeon X3350, currently running on stock fan while waiting for my cooler master hyper 212 to arrive.

Just noticed the stock fan's heatsink is 1/2 the size of the Q6600 one...

Also, is RealTemp or CoreTemp more accurate for yorkfields? Core Temp shows 58/58/53/58 while RealTemp 48/47/42/47. If core temp correct then I think the cacat fan really sucks.

Yea. Penryn and Yorkfied are using the small size heatsink.

For temp, there is no exact or accurate temp I think since Intel never advertise the Tjmax.

Both softwares you stated are just estimation IIANM.

Just back from SG Simlim Square, almost every shop got Q9450.
Plenty of stocks....

If Nvidia or Intel come out the same function with (AMD 780G) .. i will buy Q9xxx cpu.

my X3350 cost me RM1138, but that's because I pre-ordered a Q9450 and paid in March, but the shop couldn't get one for me so they gave me the Xeon instead. Anyway, the Xeon costs RM1250 there.
