LOL..Then you have thought wrongly. I somehow remember a site which i bumped by last time that listed way more Penryns than those listed in the main page. Even some that have 8X50 version as well. Hmm..Guess i need to track back the website hmm.gif

Has anyone did a performance comparison between the Xeon X3350 and the C2Q Q9450? I know both overclock to roughly the same result, but I can't find a damn review on the Xeon X3350. The shop I ordered my Q9450 from is prodding me to get the Xeon at same price as Q9450.

According to Tom's Hardware, it's essentially the same chip. Some users have posted no problem setups using n780i, X38 and X48 chipsets with the Xeons. Read it here:

I have been waiting for Q9450 since late last year too. I wonder when it is going to be launched in Malaysia.

i recommend getting a q6600. price now 600+. easily ocable to 3.2-3.4.

frankly at those speeds, if you're not a benchmark junkie, run encoding/rendering programs 24/7 or play all your games at max reso, you'll find it very very fast for all your normal usage. multitasking is a breeze, there's hardly a hiccup from xp when you alt-tab between games and whatever heavy duty progs you have running.

q9450 may be faster, but hardly worth the almost doubled price, unless you are one those the minority users i mentioned above.

Yup, still waiting for Q9450 or higher. I hope LYP shops are not "hiding" the stocks for 45nm quads.

Maybe I should just keep waiting till 32nm Nehalem comes out ...

Luckily i got myself an E8400 last month. If i had waited for Q9450, i think my Dell LCD will be gathering at least 1" thick dust by now. tongue.gif
