2 months is also still an estimation. As i know, there is still no official announcement from Intel when its going to be released. Last news was - 1st half of 2008 which means anytime from January to End of June.  shocking.gif

Oh man.. I'm hoping to get the Q9450 this March or early April to finish my school projects..
If June only comes out, my school semester already habis la.. haih.. doh.gif

Yorkfield Processors to Start Selling Next Week.
Intel Battling 45nm Chips Shortages

These Yorkfield processors on the new C1 stepping that would be free from this problem were expected to arrive in early March. According to sources, the new processor went into mass production exactly as planned and next week we should see 45nm Core 2 Quad Q9300, Q9450 and Q9550 in retail stores already. The mass production processors will be based solely on C1 stepping, which doesn't have any changes to its thermal, electrical or mechanical specifications compared with the previous C0 processor stepping that is used widely in dual-core Wolfdale processors these days.

Guys, keep your money ready. tongue.gif

Since it's coming next week, should I go buy it right away or wait for few weeks?

If I buy first, scare they increase the price like crazy due to new product.

If I wait for few weeks, scare they no stock like E8xxx series and have to wait for another few more weeks = 1-2 months already

What should I do?

Did them say when it will start selling?

If it's rm1190, you guys think it's worth it or not?

or just buy Q6600 at around rm800? or wait for miracle to happen?

From some reviews, both OC'ed till a same lvl, Q9450 only 6% faster than Q6600 but the price is like RM400 different!! rclxub.gif

"miracle" is not likely to happen if u see it according to the way e8xxx is sold tongue.gif  the only thing good bout penryn is that they consumes less power n produce lesser heat.... n we still dont know yet  whether p35 is compatible with the quad or not... might as well u wait if u are a p35 mobo user n thinking of getting q9450
*
Less power + less heat, but are they really that important to us?

If i'm not an OC'er but maybe will OC a bit in the future, then is Q6600 sufficient for me?

QUOTE(kmarc @ Mar 17 2008, 10:55 PM)
Not worth it unless you really use/need all 4 cores. Even so, you can probably get a retail 2nd-hand Q6600 G0 for less than RM800......
*
Very true...

and what's the diff in G0 core stepping? Are all stores selling this version only? I see a bulk selling B3 core stepping, which are the latest one? sweat.gif

for most of the p35 mobo they will need BIOS update to use 45nm.... u will have to check what bios revision ur mobo is using now n check at their respective website to see if the current BIOS supports 45nm already or not... if no, then u will have to update ur bios but becareful when flashing though  tongue.gif
*
What if I have a new mobo and I'm not sure it needs to be update or not?

Example, I'm going to buy Asus P5K PRO, the website says "The Intel(R) P35 Express Chipset is the latest chipset designed to support the next generation 45nm CPU", but it doesn't mention that I need to update it or not.
So once I buy the mobo, if it requires an update, how am I going to update the bios without the 45nm processor working? or bios can be updated without the processor? rclxub.gif

Is the motherboard available here or just China?

It's quite cheap for a x38 board but is it reliable?

The price is from Computerwar or war.mart price list.

The Q9450 is RM1138 and Q9300 is RM840

Their Q6600 is more expensive, you can find it at RM740 at another shop booth.
