Yesterday I went to LYP and asked around for the Q9450. The usual reply came out, no stock, no idea when they'll get stock.

Then I pulled out the Sri Computers brouchre at one shop and pointed it out to them, and said that they did (Sri claims they have it, but their usual lanci staff turned me off, besides it wasn't in the counter either). The shop guy panicked biggrin.gif

So far only 2 shops I know, Sri and Computer War@SS2 have their prices listed down, and it seems to tally with Singapore's SG$500 price.

I already ordered a Q9450 from Computer War together with my new PC, so I'll be one of the first. I'd probably won't do the tape job yet though, and OC manually instead.

One of the guys from lowyat (forgot which one) told me it'll be out in time for PC fair. I suspect it'll be available earlier though, unless they all withhold the CPU till PC Fair.

Damn I think I should have bought some stock earlier for the E8400...

Pretty sure they are waiting for PC fair before they release those Yorkfields.

Paying RM800 for the E8400 is a ripoff.

Care to buy from the US @ USD199.99 w/o shipping?

Looks like the E7200 is the Penryn version of the E2160 CPU. Cheap price, 50% overclock.

I called the boss of Computer War last Thursday and he said reasonable stock would only arrive next week.

Well, that's Singapore  sad.gif ...have the Q9450 reached our shores yet? I'll be interested to know if any shops are having stocks here in Klang Valley.

They did, don't forget it's manufactured in Malaysia. It's just those Intel guys prioritize other countries first.

Has anyone did a performance comparison between the Xeon X3350 and the C2Q Q9450? I know both overclock to roughly the same result, but I can't find a damn review on the Xeon X3350. The shop I ordered my Q9450 from is prodding me to get the Xeon at same price as Q9450.

computer war, PJ

Frankly Intel really screwed up their 45nm production, those fellas made less than 20% of their CPUs on 45nm for Q1 2008. Do they really want AMD to get back in the game? I already can pick up triple cores and the Black Edition PhenomX4 9850 one week after first release, and the Q9450 isn't available more than a month after release(15/3/2008).

Q6600 isn't really worth it when you want to OC, considering there's the Q6700 price drop.

Just got the Xeon X3350, currently running on stock fan while waiting for my cooler master hyper 212 to arrive.

Just noticed the stock fan's heatsink is 1/2 the size of the Q6600 one...

Also, is RealTemp or CoreTemp more accurate for yorkfields? Core Temp shows 58/58/53/58 while RealTemp 48/47/42/47. If core temp correct then I think the cacat fan really sucks.

Q9300, maybe at earliest late June below RM1k.

my X3350 cost me RM1138, but that's because I pre-ordered a Q9450 and paid in March, but the shop couldn't get one for me so they gave me the Xeon instead. Anyway, the Xeon costs RM1250 there.

^ If you're talking about affordable quads that'll be AMD's underpowered Phenom 9500/9550 la.

Speaking of stuck sensors my Xeon also has one always 8C lower than the other cores at idle, and 4-6C while priming.
