QUOTE(ahjummma @ Jun 8 2022, 01:30 PM) I think our role is similar but different industry and I only have degree. My basic is 76% higher. I don't have contractual bonus or allowances. Just performance bonus which is usually 3 months minimum. AL is only 21 days. Been with my current company for 6 years. thanks bro...seems like i'm way underpaid, time to nego! |

QUOTE(ahjummma @ Jun 9 2022, 09:10 AM) By the way, I see you have yearly flexi allowances, may I know what are those? What is the annual increment % like? Just for benchmark purpose The yearly flexi allowances can be used for lifestyle related purchases ie. personal car maintenance, road tax, purchase of sports equipment, or even for hotel/accommodation claim when you go for holidaysAnnual increment is average 3-5% for most employees. |

Hi all, sharing my progression here as a dotnet software developer.
My background is not IT but I started my career in IT as a software developer. I am a Mechanical Engineering degree graduate from TARUC (Setapak). My monthly gross salary in RM (not including allowances, only base) progression: 2016 (started in Dec): 3K 2017: 3.3K (confirmation) -> 3.6K 2018: 3.8K -> 6K (promotion) 2019: 6.5K 2020: 6.7K -> 8.1K (new job) 2021: 10K (new job) 2022: 16K (new job) Sorry for the soooo abstracted information, just in case my colleague will see my post here. A bit more context, all these are in Malaysia, I'm not doing remote job and converting currency (some people like to convert, for example from SGD to MYR as their earning). Sharing this for the benefits of other software developers, there are a few companies I know that they could afford RM 10K monthly for people who have less than 5 years of working experience. The annual bonus I got from these companies is average 1.5 months. I am grateful with what I have now at my current age (below 30 years old). |

QUOTE(icebryanchan @ Jun 20 2022, 01:32 PM) I don't like to say this but why is age related to pay? That's the most common way of HR lowballing talents. Well, i guess, when your age is older, basically meant you have more experiences, when you have more experienced higher chance meaning you know more things, thus you might get higher salary. Many HR might take this as a factor to gauge what they should pay the candidate besides those certificates, past works, etc. I think that makes sense. My case here was talking about coders, i think a coder who just worked for 1-2 years or totally no work experiences can get very high salary too, just show the company / HR the works they have done while in school / free time, show the company / HR how much knowledges they have and why they are qualified for high paid. Last time i played a game called "Runescape", the creator of the game, before he graduated already had many companies offering him super high paid hoping he could join their companies. |

Hi tech consultant seniors,
May I know what’s the most suitable pay range for Test Manager in consulting firm (MNC)? Their client is global bank. I want to make sure I’m not getting lowballed anymore. I have 6 years of experience in software QA testing including testing management and my qualification is Degree in IT and MBA. Really appreciate your advice 🙏🏻 |

Coming from the software path, I'm confident to say 90% software graduates won't reach that by 30. dtkiller97 liked this post

I still see active job postings in that FB group, but the pay vs workload for most engineers really demotivating for many juniors, unless they are in Oil&Gas or semicon industry.Everyone has different path, you will eventually find and pave the best one for yourself. dtkiller97 liked this post

Thank you for the cheer up senior xD. Ya Dr. Seow did constantly post new jobs in the fb group and like what you mentioned the pay vs workload really seems to be imbalance. So, I Plan to move to new field in next year. Still thinking if i should stay in R&D related to mechanical parts or should change to IT field. I think it is harder to find SME that help in engineering growth path. But since my result was someway around CGPA 2.96++. I don have that confident to apply in MNC company. :/ I got consider moving to Penang and start in semicon industry specially like Vitrox.Everyone has different path, you will eventually find and pave the best one for yourself. |
