For current blockchain, web3 and NFT, you can easily broke into this industry by simply active on Twitter, Reddit, and Discord

Join many project, learn about and active in their community, by helping and share knowledge. You will get notice of the team member and may get invite to be part of team

If you have technical knowledge, build your own project or task on github, share with project that you want to be part of them , either to learn or get paid doing something for them

Communication is the key. Unless you are a technical person, and focus on tech, then accent doesn’t matter.

But for front facing or management, you need to be good at communication I.e clear in delivering the key point and message, guide and mentor the team

About to jump ship, as I have been interviewing for other companies.

Career wise, I think its good profile. Since you stayed at least for 4 years++ in the first company before you jumped, and even got several increments. No need to go KL, there are companies that have Full WFH policy. You just need to find it.

I had the same goal to hit 10k by 30 and did not achieve it =/ then I set the same goal as you (15k by 35), now I'm 34 and I'm happy to say that I have achieved my personal goal . My path was Software Engineer > Software Development Team Leader > Software Architect. FYI I stayed and promoted from junior > senior > team leader > sw architect in the same company that I worked with for 7 years then made a jump with big increment. In total I have 9 years of working experience, entering my 10th in later half of 2022 =). So I think your goal is definitely achievable, all the best and good luck!

Kinda sad that the one true way to meet salary goals is to jump ship. It comes with a risk and who knows if the company you jump to will be a good fit. Seldom there are cases where loyal and high performing employees achieve their salary goals.

I agree! I'm sure there are company that can pay loyal employee very very well along side with their growth, but it would be really rare. I made a jump after knowing that new comers with lesser experience and responsibilities are getting higher salary closing to what I was earning. Then I felt that it is time to seek for a better opportunity elsewhere =/

Not sad at all. You open yourself up to more perspective whenever you jump ship. There's too much bullshit that surrounds corporate management, it'd be stupid of one to not jump at least once in their life.

Well, in Spore yes, my industry, this is the standard plus-minus... Plus when you are a foreigner here, you cannot expect to be paid at the same level as locals.
But since after conversion to MYR it looks good so I dont mind.
