Hi all, sharing my progression here as a dotnet software developer.
My background is not IT but I started my career in IT as a software developer.
I am a Mechanical Engineering degree graduate from TARUC (Setapak).

My monthly gross salary in RM (not including allowances, only base) progression:
2016 (started in Dec): 3K
2017: 3.3K (confirmation) -> 3.6K
2018: 3.8K -> 6K (promotion)
2019: 6.5K
2020: 6.7K -> 8.1K (new job)
2021: 10K (new job)
2022: 16K (new job)

Sorry for the soooo abstracted information, just in case my colleague will see my post here.
A bit more context, all these are in Malaysia, I'm not doing remote job and converting currency (some people like to convert, for example from SGD to MYR as their earning).

Sharing this for the benefits of other software developers, there are a few companies I know that they could afford RM 10K monthly for people who have less than 5 years of working experience.

The annual bonus I got from these companies is average 1.5 months.
I am grateful with what I have now at my current age (below 30 years old).

How do you answer interview questions on switching jobs frequency? I get them a lot even though I don't switch as often as you. Can't imagine what kind of creative answers I would have to dig out if in your position.

Maybe it is applicable to you as auditor but not all industry can apply. To be honest if I were see someone resume like you (non-accounting) I will seriously forgone the candidate for good because it is zero loyalty. How one can gain more experience if jumping here and there as job hopper. To acquire skill in fact 6 months or 1 year can be competence to do the task but experience and network need time to build. Changing job frequently doesn't mean of getting good experience but rather it is for seeking good pay purpose.

How about changing jobs every 2 years+? Acceptable?

Job Title : Assurance Associate

Company : Audit company
Industry : Audit/Acc
Tenure : Permanent
Employment Level : Associate level/entry level
Experience before joining (years) : 0 (6 months internship at MNC)
Highest paper qualification/ education background : Bachelors Degree
Location : KL
Average Working Hours Per Week (incl lunch hours): 45 (maybe slightly different once engagements start rolling in).

Monetary Payout
Basic Salary + Fixed Allowance : RM3,400 +130 allowance
Contractual Bonus (months): N/A
Performance, Variable Bonus & Commissions (months) : N/A

Work From Home Availability: Depends on manager and rest of team
Annual Leaves: 14 days
Flexi Working Hours : Partial - if client wants you to be on at specific time then have to. otherwise can flex

I'll be honest, I took this job because it was the highest paying and most convenient for me initially, but right now I'm thinking it might have been a mistake. I don't have the audit mindset, and maybe I should have opted for lower pay but more job satisfaction. We'll see how it goes though. I feel like I should try at least one busy season and if I can't handle it I'll leave.

Looks like PwC judging from the peanut allowances of RM130 - mobile phone MR60 + travel RM70

Updated on 23 octorber 2022

Hi guys, would like to ask for everyone opinions. As from previous update, i got a 10% salary increment in july 2022 and going to get another rm1000 increase from current company in coming jaunary 2023 (sort of like promotion). Recently i have gotten a head hunter job offer as a Business Development Engineer (range of rm3000 to 5000 stated in the post but could get higher than that maybe?). My company usually give 1.5~2 month bonus depend on how much company earn. My question is should i move to a new job (Cuz i feel like still can learn more things from current company) while the new company required to handle project, provide solution to build some lab environment for Asia country. Since i never touch out about this position, can any sifu suggest me what should i do? I am confused right now as i not sure if i shall try the new oppornity or remain in current company. (New company supply lab-level installation for industry factory). Is there a difference between Mechanical Design Engineer (contact customer, do design, follow up supplier)and Business Development Engineer (developp customer potential business, work closely with design team, required outstation often)?

Looks like you have not gotten the offer and just at the initial stage of the application. You are considering too seriously like as though you will surely get the offer.

One step at a time - get the offer first then only seriously consider. And even if you get the offer then, you have all the rights to reject it. Being headhunted doesn't guarantee that it will end up in an offer.
