I'm using unifi 100mbps currently and I wanna build my own vpn server.
Will they approve my request to get public ip for this reason?
I dont know actually.
I think i have some leverage on this situation, but it is not a wrong idea if you want to try.
Just tell them your need of public ip for what ever reason you need it (for cctv, services hosting etc),and better have a deep understanding why it is better on cgnat.
because of weak configuration will end up you compromised others.
They are ways to reach your network like @soonwai said like zerotail (no public ip needed)
I request to port out from unifi to maxis (to a one tier higher speed), with one reason in particular, to obtain public ip.
Back then, only maxis will entertain your request without asking your nature of usage.
So,since unifi (the one that call me for confirmation of port out) agreed to gave me what i want,so i stick with unifi with one
higher tier speed, the same package that i originally wanted on maxis.
Upon speed upgrade been made, (with new fiberhome wifi 6 installation) ,the public ip is still not being given, with my corrrect
network configuration, I still not able to reach my services from outside.
After a bunch of calls to unifi, they agree to send their technician to come for inspection and i did the explanation of my network
config to those technicians face to face with actual demo of my problem.
Those technician agree to bring forward the matter to their network engineer ( as i was told by them both).
After about two week from the unifi inspection,i can see changes unifi made of my connection.
I did stumble across one of the technician after that succesfully transfer a few month later , which i thank him for the help ,and demo him
what would it be look like of succesful public ip connection services ( on my usage need ). He said that his network engineer have to request
to headquaters for those changes to be done.( around 2 weeks, maybe a week and a half ).
So that what i have been through of requesting public ip a year ago.
Transfer from 100Mbps to 300Mbps public ip took a month in my case.
My twocent tip, just talk nice to them like they are you elders and have some patience (you need a bunch of it).
