DrWho, thanks for the tips but will it consume more power? I'm using it now.

I am using fingers all the time until i bought the invisible shield. it now feels very starchy and jeeyish. i have to literally poke and poke the screen to sms.  but tolerable if i am not in a hurry, else it is quite panicking .....

Edward shd be more exeprienced in using his naked fingers as he is not using screen guard too ... ha ha ha ......

i think the repeating action of poking n poking the screen will reduce its sensitivity?
i think the screen protector is necessary to protect, but not really to "serve". muahahaha. lolx

Ed,

Since you are into cars, it is like asking whether the car will consume more gas after you have upgraded your normal engine to a turbo super charged engine. brows.gif

It is now a Porsche! thumbup.gif

Hi all sifus biggrin.gif

I wanted to share my experience with HARD RESET shocking.gif with this KS20. Actually the reason I decided to do the hard reset is because of my itchy hand to play around with SKTool Lite and simply delete all those registry that appear after scanning. Maybe the problem is either the SKTool or the G-alarm.

After few round, my KS20 start to feel super lag...and keep hang. I can't even type 1 sms without problem and can't pick up call. I tried uninstall and reinstall and soft reset (repeat it 10x) but after for a while the problem keep coming back. So I tried spb backup that is suggested by DrWho and well, it is a trial version, but it allowed you to backup 5 times and if you hard reset, the trial is back to 5 tries again biggrin.gif

So I tried backup full one time for testing purposes and another time with the custom backup. And here I goes with the Hard Reset. Guess what? Everything really back to factory default setting, so all my sms gone. I thought it won't delete the sms tongue.gif

Anyway, I used back the spb backup (which in .exe format) and restore those sms and my documents. You don't even need to reinstall the spb backup which mean the backup will be with you if you save it in your memory card.
The only thing I need to reconfigure is my iFonz since I customise it quite alot and it is time-consuming. And after settle all the installation and configuration, I faster faster backup that version since it is consider stable.

If anything goes wrong and I need to Hard reset again, I can always use back that copy to restore it back to my customise iFonz (hopefully it is possible, if not I have to reconfigure those iFonz again sad.gif )

Currently now my KS20 is functioning well and smooth, no problem so far biggrin.gif

Thanks for sharing yr experience. It's good to know we have the 'last resort' which is HARD RESET. If anything else won't help, this will just fix all the prob and get you back the original state. smile.gif

Just a word of caution. You should do a full backup including the system files WHILE your phone is working perfectly and NOT when the phone is having problem. By then it is too late. A full backup by Sprite Backup will enable you to restore everything onto your phone, no reconfiguration is required.

rainNShine,

about your reset > did your contact affected or not? or did you simply re install tour contact, and they remain in the same format?

thanks.

dear DrWho,

about my used KS20. i suspec that there are many junk and disturbing registries and system files inside. so, if i were to do a hard reset, i will need to get back my contacts. i remember when i bought this used set, iit could not detect my contacts at all from the SIM card, and i had to use SIM Manager to read the SIM. after that, i import all contacts and things were ok, EXCEPT CONTACT FORMAT CHANGED !!! VFor example A B C became C, B C. and the sirnames all went other ways. any recommendations to safeguard the same format when re installing? i was thinking of using the outlook to export to my pc, then re import back to KS20 after reset. how?

thank you.

yeah, contact info is an issued to me too coz i got like almost 300 contact from my previous symbian 90 phone. luckily the symbian can pack all contact into vcard and send thru bluetooth, and luckily wm6 can read it. but too bad if previously i save 2 number into 1 name, some 2nd number disappear. and of coz have to rearrange the contact name...

Hi mike,

Well, frankly said, I haven't export my contact into phone memory yet. So my contact all inside my sim card. That's is also another reason why I didn't install iContact.

I cannot tell you whether the contact will be in same format or not after restore. However, spb backup also have contact backup, so most probably you can try backup those SMS and contact number but not registry since your phone already got so much problem. So I only use the backup to restore back my SMS and my word documents inside since I only start to find backup software when the phone starting to have problem sweat.gif
Luckily didn't take much my time since I didn't explore and customise so much yet.

hmm i wonder how many of us sync our ks20 with outlook. it might not be a major problem for contact (and other PIM) recovery if u sync with outlook.

lteo,

something bad abt windows design is whenever you install something, tho u uninstall it, somehow there are some leftovers. to clean it more in detail, try SKTools.
