DrWho,

I'm interested to flash with wm 6.1 rom. But does that mean even if we have the original rom version (from the phone) we cannot reflash back to wm 6.0 rom?
Anyway, can you teach me step by step on how to flash to wm 6.1 biggrin.gif

Thanks

I have just uploaded the ROM package folder to Rapidshare. Cannot state the link here. Just request and I hope those whom I have PM the download site will forward the link to you.

Caution, once you flash your warranty will no longer be valid.

Hard restting: -

1. Turn off the LG KS-20 completely
2. Press and hold these three buttons–volume down, Call and power–till the LED (this is beside the front camera) flashes.
3. Release the buttons. That same LED should flash blue/red/green and power up.
1.  the screen comes back almost immediately (not 10 minutes ??)
2.  the windows screen looking at me (scarry)
3.  1/2 minute later ... it asks me to re align the screen by using stylus to touch the crosses.
4.  then .... it prompts me to do several setting preferences, such as date, time, mms etc. i tick the 'skip' option because i guess i can do them later.
5.  IT IS BACK !!!!! but why it is done in less than 1 minute ???? i now see the rginal brownish colored LG 'tea cup' (i think it is a cup right???)
the fonts are in the original small size. looks very korean lady wei !!!

Question > is it done already?  WHY so fast, in less than 1 minute ???

???????????????????????????????????????????????????????

Added on December 18, 2008, 3:26 pmNote: i will not do anything now until i ve read DrWho's pm about the wm6.1.

1.  immediaely after the reset, KS20 was hopelessly slow!!! then, few mintes later, it is back to "ok" state, faster.

2.  time and date default at 1st january 2008

I think done liao ????

Any comment from anyone here?

Added on December 19, 2008, 1:18 amWM6.1 flashing FAILED.

i did another hard reset (which took only 5 minutes).

the failed reason: -

Step 4:

Start up LGMDP EURO, and connect the phone to the computer.
Click on "Select Port" in LGMDP( a dialog should appear which will detect your phone as a COM port make sure it says enabled for the status)

after clicking the 'Select Port' in LGMDP, the phone is NOT detected as the dialog box is blank after clicking on 'Select Port' I think it means that the LGMDP did not recognise the phone ...... it ends here.

LGMDP should be able to recognized the phone by now.

Step 5: (NOT done as Step 4 was not completed)

Another Dialog page will appear now, if not click on select Image Button on LGMDP,

Too bad. never mind, i have tried it.

thanks DrWho and Ed for all the tremendous effort.

Dear DrWho,

i suspect one thing : -

as the instructions asked to open the LGMDP, there were 2 versions : 1 in the package 1 itself and another 1 outrside the package and they have the same name. i panicked and angered a little and got confused, but then it was 1.30 am into the ight, after a hard day's work. jus wonder why the KS20mport was NOT recognised after step 4. strange .......

thanks, i will read up and try again. cheers.

wonder where you are going to hide for 3 weeks . lol ???/

Added on December 19, 2008, 10:38 amDear DrWho,

just read the link. good instructions. but last night, the 'select port' screen was blank and i could not proceed further (seen in one of the screen shorts in the link that the buttons for 'image' was alive, but mine could not be used as it was in light grey color ... meaning not functional ....), nvm i will try again tonight.

Ed,

good morning!!!

yes, phone is smoother now. last night only started to install few software inside. so far so good.

actually, not so great la. i had hard reset 3 times!!! it was because i tried to flash the ROM with wm6.1, but failed because at certain stages, it did not work (errors in downloading ...). i ve decided not to do it again.

actually the hard reset was very very easy. it only took me 1 minute and 35 seconds (i dont know why it was so fast?). after the reset, the phone looks cute, simply and clean like a pretty naive girl waiting to be invited and provoked !!!! wow !!! everything was done automatically, and all system software were reinstalled within 2 to 3 minutes.

Streange strange, all the contacts can now be read DIRECTLY from SIM card. not a little issue !!!! it is threaded also!!! i also dont know why, because before the reset, it cannot read my SIM, and all the contacts were upside down and messy. now the contacts are as original as they could. great !!!

will use the phone and see see what will happen. still, i am using the SKTools lite only (the one that you posted here somewhere). willt ry to read up and see what else i need to install. i remember you said something about U2 or something ... ? haha ... .will try them all out one by one, and see when and where the KS20 will 'hang' ..... if they work, will install "your games" as seen in your thread ... they look really great. Ed, hard reset man, it is simple and easy !!!

too bad i cannot falsh the ROm with wm6.1 only.

cheers pal.

Question: I'm having problem connecting LG KS-20 using Microsoft ActiveSync. My computer which uses Window XP cannot recognise the device. Can you help?

Active Sync works on Windows XP. Try installing NET Compact Framework 2.0 at your PC first. Get the update from Microsoft here:

One name is from SIM card the other from phone. You have to disable showing contacts from SIM card

You can get MMS settings from Maxis via internet request and Maxis will send the MMS settings to your phone

Dear DrWho,

really appreciate your reply. will take action now.

as for the experience for the hard reset, i am feeling that the phone is really clean, i like it because i feel more confident, and it is not hanging till today. the 'funny files' that i saw via the 'file explorer' before the reset are all gone ... hehe.

once again, thank you.

good saturday afternoon.

Oh, forogt: -

where or how do i 'disable' the contacts view from the SIM please?

Hi! Just got my LG KS-20. However, the activesync cannot even detect the phone. Is there any special setting that I should use? My USB Data cable still charge my handphone, so I believe it is fine. Anyone faces the same problem? THANKS.

Hi,

have you tried this: -

go to USB connection > choose USB Activer Sync instead of USB mass storage.?

hope it helps.

You can either edit you Registry or use the free Advanced Configuration program to do it. For Advanced Config goto Phone to disable Show SIM Contacts

Download cab version 3.2 from here: http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?p...=AdvancedConfig

This is one of the best freeware for PPC. As useful as SKTools
