QUOTE(alexkos @ Apr 21 2021, 01:28 PM) Is it ok? I saw got free apple share Yes ok. One of the good broker. Competitor is tiger. Moomoo is backed by tencent.Commission free trading My Malaysian fren can apply too Need to know if there's hidden cost like inactivity fee, option trading fee, withdrawal fee etc Anyone using? Is not commision free. Read properly. Commision free only for US customer. Asia get charged. The fees are straight forward listed. The platform fees does not work like normal platform fees. They call it platform fees but you pay when you make a trade. Keep in mind you need more than SGD2k to get that free apple share. QUOTE(TripleStandard Banglasia @ Apr 21 2021, 01:38 PM) Wrong. It's perfectly legit. If scam, people won't be able to withdraw money. If it's scam, it won't have license to operate in Singapore, HK and US. If it's a scam, won't be backed by tencent. It's not scam at all and it's under Tencent. Many singaporean join the Moomoo platform and also spend $2700 in order to get 1 apple share.

QUOTE(kart @ Apr 22 2021, 05:05 AM) Depends what are you looking for. Pure IBKR is still the cheapest in terms of commission and margin rates.Only cons is no access to real time price, complex interface. Moomoo only good for 1) real time price 2) possible real time option price (have not opened so cannot confirm) 3. Free apple shares. 4. Charting 5. US people as they get free trades while we have to pay. I am only going to open moomoo for 1, 2 & 3. Nothing more. If moomoo can lower their commision to IB price, and their margin at IB rates, it will be fantastic. Until then we can just dream on. This post has been edited by Ramjade: Apr 22 2021, 11:02 AM |

Holy fucking shit, Moomoo is way faster than Tiger.
Deposit is acknowledged in < 1 min, as opposed to Tiger's 5 minutes. Their mobile UI and stability, translations etc are done better than Tiger. I will use both for a few months to see, no harm putting stocks in both accounts, they don't impose custodian or inactivity fees anyway. |

Are you guys sure it's really commission-free?
I spotted some marketing tricks. Commission is low and attractive, looks good for promotion on index page of website, but look closely at the "platform fee" part. https://support.futusg.com/en-us/category11029 So commission-free means you will still be deducted platform fee from your cash/margin account. This makes me laugh lol: QUOTE Thank you for using moomoo. Platform fees are charged to enable Futu to continue investing in better technologies to improve our platform to serve our users better. They should say: QUOTE Thank you for using moomoo. Platform fees are charged to enable Futu to recoup the cost due to low commissions. |

QUOTE(Ramjade @ Apr 22 2021, 03:41 PM) It's only commission free if you are US citizen. Otherwise you pay. Yes extra commission is still commission. The true cost is the commission + "platform fee". If there is no activity inside your account, no platform fees. It is not like FSM platform fees which will be minus every quarter. Moomoo call it platform fees but in reality it is just extra commission charged on top of m=normal commission. And even if you don't buy or sell within the same month, any purchase and selling after one-month since last trade will still incur that fee. QUOTE 2. Platform fees will be charged per order and there is no amalgamation. 3. Cumulative orders per month: it's accumulated by natural month. So you buy one stock of APPL, not selling it within one month, incur first charge of platform fee. One month later if you sell it, it's another month, so any buy/sell activity more than one month after the last order will result in platform fee being charged. (The fee is charged for cumulative orders per month.) That's what I understand. Maybe I am wrong. Feel free to correct me. EDIT: here's the chinese version, for better understanding. https://support.futusg.com/zh-cn/topic76?lang=zh-cn QUOTE 2. 每笔订单分成多次成交,只按订单收取一次费用。 3. 每月累计订单:按自然月份累计。 So the platform fee is charged once, if the order is fulfilled in multiple blocks. I dont know how to get the money back if there are issue on withdrawing. I dont have oversea account. Only Malaysia saving account. There are better brokers out there than interactive broker but I never bother because hard to withdraw. One such example is webull. We can open webull. Deposit and withdrawing money incur extra cost Vs using Interactive broker route. Hence the reason didn't open webull. For me, my money overseas is one time ticket. I send my overseas money to my brokerage and never ever withdraw. Go read the thread below on opening sg bank account. You only need CIMB my account to get started. For overseas brokerage since they don't base in Malaysia, you need to have a foreign bank account to deposit/withdraw money. Most people choose SG due to its proximity. And people go for CIMB SG/Maybank SG (try not to use Maybank SG...). You can have a look at the "Opening a Bank Account in Singapore" thread: https://forum.lowyat.net/topic/1440794/+3320 Malaysia have always ban "Forex related stuff" because of Mahathir era. So you be the judge on that. Hoshiyuu, red streak, and 1 other liked this post

Free AAPL stock should be worth wasting 1 year of passport effective time.

did mine two weeks back, don't need to fullfill 3rd condition. I would say even if you do 3 trades at some losses its still gonna be worth it. can just buy/sell 1 shares of anything 3 times....

QUOTE(honsiong @ Apr 22 2021, 12:26 PM) Holy fucking shit, Moomoo is way faster than Tiger. Moomoo took quite long time to reflect in the account compare to tiger. deposit on sunday until now still no reflect yet.Deposit is acknowledged in < 1 min, as opposed to Tiger's 5 minutes. Their mobile UI and stability, translations etc are done better than Tiger. I will use both for a few months to see, no harm putting stocks in both accounts, they don't impose custodian or inactivity fees anyway. |

Last 2 days before they end the free Apple share!
Been a customer on this platform for a month and I must say other than cheap fees, the UI a little underwhelming compare to Tiger which is cleaner and sleek. |

need ppl to confirm on
1) option trading fee (prefer actual execution) 2) option data (available?) need to pay? 3) inactivity fee if any 4) min amount to maintain the account (i know opening is 2700, but what if the amount dips below it?) moomoo is advantageous because of speed of money transfer (way faster than TSG). With moderate fee I'm seriously considering in switching. Need my birth cert ready to apply for passport. Yes, I don't have one. |

QUOTE Client acquisition in Singapore has far exceeded our expectations since the official launch on March 8, and the strong momentum continued into the second quarter. Our superior product experience and laser focus on client servicing, coupled with our online and offline advertising and strong word-of-mouth referral, have helped us quickly capture the mindshare of Singaporeans. We are encouraged by what we have achieved in Singapore so far and are convinced that Singapore and the broader Southeast Asian market offer huge runway for growth. Despite rapid client base expansion, our quarterly paying client churn rate remained below 2%. They are not happy with you guys not trading. |

QUOTE(gooroojee @ May 21 2021, 08:34 PM) Explore new platforms and learn new things. Wow you are very different from those who long for the "free" stock. Update: Just checked the app and found one Apple share sitting there smiling at me. So, good news for everyone. Just a reminder: if you plan to keep the account inactive rather than closing it make sure it has good password/security protection. It's tempting for one to forget about the "inactive" accounts, let alone its protection. If someone misuses your account you will be in trouble. |

As of 1st Jun 2021, (0000hrs SGT ) new customers who have successfully opened a Futu SG securities account from 1st Jun 2021 to 30th Jun 2021 (2000hrs SGT) can enjoy 1 Free AAPL share when they fulfil all of the following conditions, Condition (i): Successfully open a FUTU SG Securities account between 1st Jun 2021, 0000hrs SGT and 30th Jun 2021, 2000hrs SGT (hereinafter referred to as "activity time"); Condition (ii): Deposited funds worth SGD 2,700 or USD 2,000 or HKD 16,000 within 30 days from account opening; Condition (iii): Successfully unlocked the Level 1 Trading Badge or completed 5 successful trades --------------------------------------------------------- Regarding the 3rd condition, is successful trade meaning any buy/sell of shares? If I buy a share and sell it immediately, is it considered as 1 trade or 2 trades? QUOTE 1.This offer is only valid for new customers with Singapore residential addresses, are at least 18 years of age, and have a valid Singapore bank account in their own name. We are currently limiting sign-ups to a limited group of nationality. Please click on the drop-down box during your account opening to see if your nationality is available on the list. I also saw this quoted T&C, does this mean we Malaysians can't benefit from the free AAPL share anymore? This post has been edited by Mr.Weezy: Jun 10 2021, 01:07 PM |

QUOTE(Mr.Weezy @ Jun 10 2021, 03:32 PM) Did u receive any successful referrals for the month of June? Hi. To answer you questions, i have looked thru past promotion TnC, https://support.futusg.com/en-us/topic166 (Mar-Apr) and also https://support.futusg.com/en-us/topic183 (May), the paragraph that you quoted are exactly the same in previous campaign. So my guess is.. should still work for Msian. But proceed at you own discretion ya.The T&C now clearly shows [Singapore] big big on the title, it's making me think twice to open. ![]() |

Does Moomoo allow watermarked/cross out documents to be submitted for account opening? or must be clean copies?

QUOTE(xiaobaiwm @ Jul 11 2021, 05:05 PM) Can't wait to get my cimb sg account activated. Do not bother about using banks. If for first transfer to activate CIMB sg-, just send sgd1.00 to it. Planning to do wire transfer. Which bank is the best? I heard mbb has the best rates but got agent fee SGD 20 Then use fintech to transfer the remaining agd999. Fintech like instarem/money match/bigpay/TransferWise/Sunway money have way better rates than banks. Cheaper, faster which means you can send more money to sg Vs using local banks for TT. But this one you need to visit branch.Google "Maybank isavvy Malaysian pdf" click the latest off file. Download it and follow the instructions. Keep in mind Maybank sg have min amount to maintain. Not sure it's still sgd500 or they have increased it to sgd1000. Failing to maintain the min amount inside means you will get charged sgd2.00/ month. The money inside there practically earning zero interest. If you don't want to lock up your sgd500/1000 don't open Maybank sg account. Instead go open CIMB MY account then open CIMB sg fastsaver. It takes about a month for everything to settle (for you to received all your mail in stuff from cimb/Maybank sg) This post has been edited by Ramjade: Aug 15 2021, 07:45 AM |

on a side note, moomoo is with futu, and recently tencent had some news related to subsidized business (moomoo attracts users via free stock signups). Tread with caution. good luck This post has been edited by alexkos: Aug 15 2021, 09:41 AM |

Translate (My own translation, consult a linguistic expert for a professional translation): The most difficult thing to endure isn't just retail brokerage firms undercutting each other's margin, but the online retail brokers backed by "northern tech/Internet giant", who in the past 5, 6 years use unlimited cash and resources to expand their business, take minimal fees, zero commissions and custodian fees, with widespread advertising and promotion, not counting the cost (of doing these) to grab market share. When they kill their competitors, become the market leader (grab huge market share), then only start to find ways to make money (profit) out of this group of customers. To this day, this sort of "I want everything" business strategy has proven its success. To be fair as this is business, such Chinese-style "First make it big, then make it strong" model isn't wrong, after all its is "the thin will has its meat eaten by the strong", a rule of capitalism. Without enough power, one awaits to be eliminated. Isn't this like the "Squid Game"? If the last opponent has big body size, strong and powerful, even with the same knife, regardless of whether one is chosen to attack or defend, what are the odds (of success)? One senior who worked in a Chinese-backed brokerage firm, when talk about these "southbound" online brokerage, furiously says that the country (China in this case) should exercise the antitrust laws to teach these nouveau riche a lesson. He even predicted that as mainland China tightens its supervision and regulation of tech companies, their doomsday are near. Didn't I say I don't want to politicize everything? Don't forget when one wants to embrace the nation (China) and embrace the opportunities in the Greater Bay Area, one shall definitely face challenges from the Greater Bay Area. The future of brokerage firms? Either they manage to find revenue pillars from other sources from brokerage business like i-Access*, or they are about to face a "Squid Game" with great disparity in strengths among the players. (*i-Access is one of the first HK online retail brokerage and popular among young Hongkongers decades ago. https://www.i-access.com/) This post has been edited by TOS: Sep 30 2021, 08:12 PM |

But you mention need to cough out money for rights issue.. US REITs I bought, no right issue wo. Also, it is monthly dividend. I give you some example. Fraser's logistics 7.x%-> 4.88% maple tree commercial 6% -> 3.83% mapletree logistics 7-8%-> 4 11% Ascendas 6.xx-> 4.9% Parkway 4.5% -> 3% The above are some of the recommended REITs. Lookat how low the yield are. The yield will be growing annually between 0.x-2x%. Why the drop in dividend yield? Share price increase. The higher yield are when I went in which make it worth it. So overtime, your original yield increase but it cannot outrun inflation. Not to mentioned as you put money in overtime, as the price increase the current yield will drop say 1-2%. QUOTE(MiKE7LIM @ Oct 9 2021, 02:26 PM) I got AAPL share and sold it... however, I didnt convert or trade in SG share market... when I sold APPL share and claim out, they converted USD to SGD for me.. i only got +/-S$180 ... S$200 seem better offer to me Avoid syfe. It is silly and stuoid to pay middleman to do something so easy to do.If you wanna focus only S reits and lazy to manage, can explore Syfe. |

QUOTE(TOS @ Sep 30 2021, 08:11 PM) https://www.mpfinance.com/fin/instantf2.php...&issue=20210930 https://finance.mingpao.com/fin/instantf/20...7%8c%e9%80%be10Translate (My own translation, consult a linguistic expert for a professional translation): The most difficult thing to endure isn't just retail brokerage firms undercutting each other's margin, but the online retail brokers backed by "northern tech/Internet giant", who in the past 5, 6 years use unlimited cash and resources to expand their business, take minimal fees, zero commissions and custodian fees, with widespread advertising and promotion, not counting the cost (of doing these) to grab market share. (*i-Access is one of the first HK online retail brokerage and popular among young Hongkongers decades ago. https://www.i-access.com/) Finally it blows to Futu and Tiger. Hi guys, I want to do a full withdrawal to my SG bank account and I currently have two sums
1) SGD in securities account 2) USD in US margin account (after selling the free stocks received :x ) Should I first convert (2) to SGD, then do one-time withdrawal? Is there any difference between these 2 approaches? Edit: self answered. I tried clicking here and there myself. First option became the clear winner because: - moo has competitive currency exchange, on par with IBKR - it becomes a telegraphic transfer sort of? Moo warned me of 30 SGD processing fee by bank for transferring USD out. This post has been edited by Takudan: Nov 22 2021, 11:35 PM |

QUOTE Companies & Markets Futu becomes first online brokerage to receive approvals-in-principle for all SGX memberships Megan Cheah 387 words 10 February 2022 Business Times Singapore STBT English © 2022 SPH Media Limited DIGITAL brokerage Futu Singapore, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Nasdaq-listed Futu Holdings, has received approvals-in-principle (AIP) for all Singapore Exchange (SGX) memberships, the company announced in a press statement on Thursday (Feb 10). This makes it the first online brokerage, through its trading platform Moomoo, to receive AIPs for full trading and clearing memberships for securities and derivatives in Singapore. With these AIPs, Futu Singapore, which is a capital markets services licence holder regulated by the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS), will be admitted as a clearing and trading member of both SGX Securities Trading and SGX Derivatives Trading. In addition, it will hold clearing membership in SGX subsidiary The Central Depository, as well as become a depository agent of the financial institution. Through the memberships, Futu Singapore will have better access to SGX's investment and risk management solutions, the press statement added. It will also be able to tap onto the local bourse operator's pool of international investors. These memberships will enhance security and efficiency for the execution of trades on its Moomoo platform, supporting multiple fast transactions. Gavin Chia, managing director of Futu Singapore, said the AIPs, which come less than a year since it entered the Singapore market, is a "vote of confidence" in the company's business strategy and vision. "Since we entered the Singapore market, we have been committed to deeply understand the pain points of retail and institutional investors, and from there, provide them with better investment experiences," he added, noting that the AIPs will further strengthen Futu's business imperatives. Separately, Futu Singapore has received approval from MAS to start its business as an exempt financial advisor, providing financial advisory services on investment products and promoting analyses and reports on them. The platform had achieved over 220,000 users in Singapore within 3 months of its launch in March 2021. Its parent company, Hong Kong-based Futu Holdings, is backed by Chinese conglomerate Tencent and has 17 million users globally, through its presence in Singapore, US, Australia and Hong Kong. Futu results. The article confirms its "cash-burn to attract customer" strategy. Finally, its net profit fell 6.3% (GAAP) to 500 million HKD yoy in Q4. Sales and marketing expensed double yoy to 337 million HKD last quarter (well, your "free" AAPL stocks comes from here). Higher marketing expenses are seen in SG and the US. Last quarter, about 90% of new paying clients came from HK, SG and the US. For the whole year 728k new customers sign up a new account, beating their 700k target. But the new account sign-ups has peaked after a sharp rise in Q1 last year. For Q4, new paid clients only grow by a mere 77k. As of end of Dec last year, Futu Bull and the international "moomoo" app has 17.4 million users, rising 46% yoy. New account openings rise 94% yoy to 2.75 million. Cutomers with assets grow 141% yoy to 1.244 million. For Q4, Futu revenue rise 35.1% yoy to 1.603 billion HKD. Of this, commissions and fees rise 19.3% yoy to 857 million HKD. Interest income rose 83.3% yoy to 618 million HKD. Wealth management ad corporate service business sees a drop in revenue of 2.2% yoy to 128 million HKD. For the whole year, revenue increases 114.9% to 7.115 billion HKD. Gross profit rises 126% to 5.909 billion HKD. GAAP Net profit rises 112% yoy to 2.81 billion HKD. QUOTE(tadashi987 @ Apr 13 2022, 02:18 PM) received this from Futu wah you faster than me.. got shocked when received call from Moomoo.beware that you still subject to Platform Fees $0 for the first year, $0.99 / Order thereafter* https://www.futusg.com/en/fee/stocks/stocks-us ![]() then also these lines I not very sure what it means... some other additional charges? QUOTE 2. An order can be divided into multiple transactions but Platform Fees will only be charged once. 4. Low-priced stocks are generally more volatile and have the possibility of being delisted, investors need to pay attention to these risks. In order to protect the interests of investors, commissions and platform fees are charged at maximum 0.5% of the transaction amount respectively. If it conflicts with the minimum standard, we will charge $0.99/order for commisions and $1/order for platform fees, according to the minimum standard. Example: Buy 5000 shares at the price of 0.59, calculate the commission according to the number of shares = 5000*0.0049=24.50, and the 0.5% of the transaction amount is 0.59 * 5000 *0.005=14.75<24.50, then the commission is charged as 14.75. don't sound like "free", more like misleading. QUOTE [3:32 pm, 13/04/2022] +65 3129 5222: so if you trade the US stock or either ETF, you won't be charged fees for the platform fees and the commission fees. [3:34 pm, 13/04/2022] +65 3129 5222: so for eg: we will charge $0.99/order for commisions and $1/order for platform fees Free platform fee for US stock market will be activated immediately upon account opening for one calendar year. Platform fee will be US$0.99 per order thereafter. You won't be charged for these two fees during the promotion period. IBKR still cheapest haha no platform fee. Can some Moo Moo gurus enlighten me:
1. If SGD convert to USD, using their Upstream Bank rate with no commission, does it give better rate than Interactive Brokers? I read here the spread is 0.6%? That's like Rakuten Malaysia spread roughly. 2. The US stocks/ETF, is it stored under the custodian account held by Moo Moo? ie will we still be subjected to the estate duty when account holder pass away. IB you can't get away from it legally. 3. Based on the FAQs I read, seems like IB is still better when it comes to buy and hold US stocks/ETF. Anyone disagrees? Many thanks. |

I wonder anyone subscribe to the 5.8% PA guaranteed return in MM Cashplus.
is it worth it ? since its better than buying BIL, and yet secure and licensed by MAS, guaranteed by SIPC. |

As long as US fed keep the rates high, you will continue getting 5%+. It's not limited to 30 days. It's limited by how long the US fed keep interest that high. |

New users who make their initial deposit of any amounts after June 30, 2023, 12:00 (SGT) can enjoy a 5.8% annualized yield on any underlying funds of Moomoo Cash Plus. The 5.8% annualized yield is only valid for 30 days. Max subscription amount into any funds under Moomoo Cash Plus for this campaign is S$ 80,000 for each user. E.g., If the first fund, Fullerton SGD Fund chosen by a new user has a 3.9% annualized yield return, Moomoo SG will make up the difference to ensure a 5.8% annualized yield for 30 days after the client's first subscription. |

Moomoo HK now waives the minimum 30 HKD dividend collection fee and replaces it with a uniform 0.2% fee on total cash dividend amount. However, you are still subject to a minimum of HK$30 if the total cash dividend amount minus the registration and transfer fee is greater than HK$60
See 3.3 Others "Dividend Collection Fees" section: https://www.futuhk.com/en/support/topic2_335? 香港明报 reports: https://finance.mingpao.com/fin/instantf/20...%b2%bb%e7%94%a8 |

Because moomoo has launched in Msia (but yet to be able to trade), you need to have ur VPN to SG enabled in order to sign up under moomoo sg.

I won't be trading in moomoo MY that's for sure because of that stupid Malaysian govt stamp duty.
I trade using syfe SG, commission is only USD1.49 regardless of how much I trade in US shares. |

Some don't like use wise transfer money so far away. They want to do it everything locally. The few bucks lost via conversion is peanut out of the long term profit .. Most important is got invest. Sit idle in the bank or small amount gain from FD is worse. |

Moomoo just launched this campaign and is new in Malaysia (Feb 27th launch)? How to have anyone claimed yet?source: https://www.prnewswire.com/apac/news-releas...alaysia%20today. Also stated at the terms there need wait another 5 days after the 30 days for the stocks to be issued: https://www.moomoo.com/my/support/topic9_120 Task: Create a group of two people, both to successfully open Moomoo MY universal account and deposit a cumulative amount of at least RM6,000 into the account before 11:59 PM MYT on 31/3/2024. Apple stock will be issued upon successful deposit, and will be activated if both maintain the assets (cash, stocks and other assets included) of RM6,000 (or equivalent currencies) for 30 days. Due to stock price fluctuations, the total asset value is allowed to drop by 10% from the stated amount. This campaign has nothing to do with any company and its affiliates that are rewarded with shares. not sure why don't they use FPX for Deposit transaction.
if using FPX, almost real time update of account balance like other brokerages. now using transfer and tally using account number is quite slow process. This post has been edited by sjz: Feb 29 2024, 10:57 AM |

yup. didn't pair up. Relatives not interested (although it's possible only Moomoo SG users can enter the group reward in the first place), & pairing up with non-relatives has risks so if u are ok with those risks go ahead This post has been edited by Medufsaid: Feb 29 2024, 02:01 PM Davidtcf liked this post

mine took around 2 hours+.
as i said before, they should consider using FPX for deposit. balance will b reflected almost real time. but could be due to some cost incurred hence they not using FPX. |
