i haven seen a husky sing but i have seen a dobermann being able to say 1 2 3 till 10 ....and he can also play those ABC toys baby plays la...he is gd !!

Angel, the spot that we're talking about is in Kuala Kubu Baru's Pertak area. It's famous for it's mountain streams. The orang asli place that Taro is swimming in is deep in the Pertak area, but I know where it is.
I hope to be able to go to Pertak and take pictures of the place and post it up for you guys to see this Sunday but no promises ar Coz I have a BBQ in Rawang on Saturday.If it's not raining, I'll go to Pertak with my dad to survey the area. Then will take pics and show you guys. With luck, we might be able to organize a private LYN doggie picnic. |

yup...i keep him in my room la when im not at home then when i come back then i open the door and let him run a little lor...
but i don i would ever cage him unless absolutely neccessary la like when im sweaping and mopping the floor...i usually let him run loose..but later i might get a play pen for him so i can control where he goes in the night... |

ohh...for the 1st week i didnt really sleep..hahaha...i teman it till almost morning la...and i only slept like about 3 hours a day around the 1st week until i have trained him to stay off some dangerous places...and if i really too tired and need to sleep then oni i cage him in the travelling cage for a couple of hours for me to sleep...

he is obedient to me and my bf now edi but then he tends to get a little proud when we meet the nex door neighbour's dog..
i think is coz he lives indoor in a comfy room u see and he gets treats more often than them and me and my bf pamper him a lot a lot...and he sayang him like every 5 minutes...he i guess that makes him think he's better than other dogs thats living outdoors and well not pampered so much la the other dogs... |

 Yayay! I'm at my brother's place now, so I post some pics first coz... I forgot to bring my camera. I used my bro's camera phone to take some pics only. Don't be angry ar, the pics is the same as the one that Nezumi show you guys with Taro in it XD The place is located in the orang asli settlement, Kg.Pertak in Kuala Kubu Baru. I used to go there all the time as a kid and thought it was closed down 5-6 years ago because of the dam. Anyway, I checked it out and while there are a few malay playing near the rocky areas, further in (about 5-10mins walk) we will reach a clear bank with crystal clear water but it's a bit deep, about human waist-chest deep. If you guys want shallower, we can back up a little, where the depth is only about ankle-thigh deep. Those with smaller furkids can go there if you want If you guys want, me and my dad can meet you guys up in KL and bring you guys to KKB (via Batu Caves trunk road). Just set a date and we're off! I can't attend the 1U gathering because my brother's going outstation and I have to babysit BuckBuck and Cisco. My dad wants to bring Abby and Chelsea for a swim soon, so we might either go on 8th Sept or 15th Sept.We don't mind going everyweek if anyone wants to go as well. It's hard to give directions if you guys are not familiar with KKB area but let me know when you guys want to go, and me & my dad will meet up with you guys and go to KKB together. Anway, I'll offline after this and might only online again tomorrow night coz I have a BBQ in a few hours time. I'll catch up with you guys then. PS : Water is REALLY nice, no malay people, only orang asli with their doggies. But their doggies might react strongly to ours la, but pls don't make them angry ar. If our furkids bark at their doggies, we better scold ours. I know my Abby and Chelsea will definitely bark at them Just now I nearly want to jump into the water myself. We later found out that the gwai lo wanted to bring his doggies swimming but the malay ppl chase them away. So sad la... but this place dont have to worry la. Just bring own stuff to clean up if our furkids sai-sai or pee-pee. Bring some furkids food and ours as well and picnic there. The spot that I find (which I think is the exact same spot as Nezumi's) there's a large open space there for us to picnic after swimming but beware of kerengga la. Oh ya, if we are all going, each of us buy some candies or something and give to the orang asli kids la. Poor thing also. Somemore help us create a rapport with them. it actually depends on whether u are gonna keep it indoors or out la...
but then i think cage would b better if u choose between those 2 and if u gonna keep it outdoors...because it is quite uncomfortable being tied up all the time... but if u gonna keep it indoors then a playpen would b enough.. |

I suppose if put on that float thingy, the doggy will hardly balance leh, i believe without the float, they can swim quite well naturally, juz that we must keep en eye on them juz in case.

Doggies are natural swimmers, so no need worry. Besides, the water there is not deep straightaway. If you guys are worried, can stand by the bank and walk in bit by bit so your furkid can get the hang of it. Don't suddenly go deep and make them panic. My GR loves water, so she'll dive right in. If some of your furkids don't like to swim that much, there's a shallower spot a few metres upstream but we can still see each other one. Im getting excited liao. You guys confirm want to go edi or not? Go post in Nairud's pinned thread so we know who wants to go and can organize easier. I for sure is going on the 16th no matter if anyone is going or not The purpose of Nairud's pinned thread is for organizing only. Where's won ar? suddenly MIA liao? |

The best is of course Holistic. If you were to get a dog that is prone to skin problems, one should give California Natural a try. It really does improve the skin and fur. Other holistic types of dogfood are Canidae, NutriEdge, EaglePack Holistic, Innova Holistic... there are more brands but I will just mention those for now. If you can't locate holistic, go for super premium like Eukanuba, Nutro, Blackwood, ProFormance.... - How to locate a good brand of dogfood? Look at the ingredients, the first 5 listed food ingredients used should not be corn or wheat, should not be Meal, should not be Chicken Digest or by-products.... Choose one that says Chicken or Lamb.... not meal but the meat. Dogs can be allergic to beef and beef can attract more ticks. |

The breeder priced it at 2.2k but then can lower much much more wan cause no cert some more. I bought Casper for 1.6k only but Casper's fur not as fluffy as the sister.
I think 1.6k for Westie is ok lor, quite cheap. If you run a search in adpost.com for WEstie, some people are letting go at RM1350 and I believe you can find even cheaper ones. |

any idea how to train a ten years old dog be friendly to other dog?? my house guard dog really fierce, he don bite human but all animal he hate.. today just run in house to bite my muffin.... swt... however, he is really a good guard dog.. even can kill fox as well..

Then you guys should bring your furkids along to see if they can swim or not ma. Don't worry, the current is not strong at all at the swimming spot. Only further upstream the current abit strong, scare flush small furkids away but the swimming area is very very calm. BTW, you guys don't think only furkids will be swimming ar, you guys prepare to swim as well. Very shuang one if swim together with the furkids. By the time we reach Pertak, the weather will be just nice. The furkids will not feel cold de but if it's their first time swimming, you guys gotta go into the water first and gently bring your furkids to the water. Don't suddenly pull them in. Last time my Abby first time go into water also very cautious. Only Chelsea charge in like nobody's business. |

Well , due to my poor budget , i'm have limited fund on the dog , i think im going to ask my parents for some fund ... Because since it's a female , she needed to be spayed ... RM200 +++ right ?
Then i still need to pay an amout of deposit , RM150... |

spca does do spaying..i think its about RM90..u got to recheck...
but how they do it whether it is gd or not then im not sure... i agree with all of them that no matter what breed she is shes still loveable have u thought of any names yet?? |

if shes under 4 months old right...keep her in the hse and try not to let her out...i think flea collar i only recommended above 3 months or 4 months old...coz the medication might do harm to the small puppy...
dogs under the age of 1 is consider puppies...plus if u get her to do surgery i think u might have to consider getting an e collar as well to prevent her licking her wound... |

i think jaunty's Prince took around 2 weeks to recover if not wrong la..not too sure u PM her la
flea collar im not that sure oso but then my friend say not that effective on her previous dog la...coz still got some will come...i think frontline still have the better reviews... |

today i went to pets wonderland to get orijen..but they don hv the puppy formula...only the adult formula...no i had no choice and jus to get Acana...i wanted to get from Yang too but then mikey de food finishing too soon dy so i no choice dy ~.~
i tasted Acana and it tasted almost exactly like blackwood but a bit more softer la... |

just now i told my fren im getting a doggie for rm950,then she say me omg..i waste 950 for a doggie..then i told her,i like to keep pets ma..then she say if like why not go for spca adopt 1..then i told her i doesnt like spca doggie..then she say im not actually like to keep pet lo,is i like to get exp pet to keep..
then i told her spca doggie some got sickness & need pay rm250 to adopt..what do u guys think..if let u all dog lovers hear what will u all say..but then she will say she love huskie..but wont spend that much to get a doggie.. |

i think its true that we should help out at the SPCA one way or another as more and more dogs are being abandoned there each day..but of course the owner have the choice to decide where he would prefer his dog to come from right...
actually i think no matter what the current owner of all types of dogs should have a more responsible attitude in making sure that their pets do not get pregnant unless they were prepapre to let them...so that lesser abandoned dogs would be left out on the streets.. |

Don't think that pet shop doggies are free of diseases and etc. My friend last time spend over RM1k to buy a puppy from a pet shop and it died from dunno what sickness after less than 1 month. SPCA pups need a place to stay and most of them tend to be more loyal because they have been abandoned once. (4)if a dog keep at indoor all the time is hard to get tick/flea unless u got bring ur dog for walks and those grassy area might got tick/flea ...during raining season , tick/flea is around our residential area outside. overall my suggestion will be spend some time e'day n catch all the ticks if ur furkid reali get tick/flea clean the sleeping place, sooner or later the ticks will be gone. But if too much tick/flea then must use kill tick spray to kill those annoying tick/flea already ;. Last time we didn't spay Chelsea one because our house don't have males ma. So once we babysit BuckBuck and Cisco, and my dad found BuckBuck hiao-ing Chelsea.
Later we bring her to be spayed and the vet found puppy foetus start forming liao... That BuckBuck, look dumb but ar... |

I think mostly first-time dog owner would want to buy themself a nice dog.
And Those who want to adopt is becoz ever since they had bought themself a nice dog, it ended up dead becoz of old age or illness.. So It hurts too much and they made up their mind to help or give love to those helpless dogs. |

Went to SPCA just now , PALOMA was adopted already ... so sad ...
That woman call me go home consider first , when i made up my mind only go back... I guess i will have think about it all over again, all those dog there are very nice , got 1 even stand on it's 2 legs ... The thing is , if i get a not so big but medium size dog , and i don't get a cage for him/her , is it ok ? |

Hahahaha... I am looking for a doggy house so I can let Casper sleep in my room. Also intend to get a big tray for him to do his biz OR a wee wee pad holder, depending on which is more helpful.

owner pic with shih tzu....she said she just shift in 1 month ago they rented the place...before that tey were staying in condo thus when the dog finally got freedmo he misuse it and often goes out.adviced in future get collar, tag and microchipped him since he is very notti. she sms and thank me saying that i took very good care of him and now he is even fatter

Ahhhh , i saw a dog put up at SPCA website for PUBLIC ADOPTION.
It's a Beagle + Dalmatian breed (The owner told me.) I guess i will take him back for adoption this Sunday... It's called SNOOPY since it's got Beagle DNA inside him ... LOL |

I have made an appointment with the owner, i guess Snoopy will be adopted by me after all, got a kind of feeling that it will be...

Yesterday, I went to Joan's shop and bought a tub for Casper to sleep in my room. Casper does not really like boxes, tubs or baby tubs for shower. So, getting him into it was totally troublesome. When he step in, he would step out and run away, repeat for 10 or so times. When he step in, even when I feed him treats or pat him, he would stay 2 minutes and step out again.
After so many tries, finally, I just put a cloth under his sleeping tub so it wont be slipper against the floor. Then ask him climb him and told him the "down" command, he bend down and sayang him for like 20 minutes with the lights off until I sendiri nearly doze off. Then, I get into bed and continued to sayang him in the tub for another 15 minutes before I fell asleep and he fell asleep too. Throughout the night, he slept like a log. I wake up for toilet, I stepped on him accidentally but I quickly rework my steps when my feet felt something furry. Then I came back and he continued to sleep. He didnt pee or poo from 12am till 8am this morning! I wake up many times just to check on him and he's still all curled up in his tub, enjoying his new bed. Wake up this morning, walk him downstairs - he walks slowly with me now. Before this, he always just dash off from my room door, down the stairs. Then, I went to the kitchen and he came along. I made his breakfast and he looked out the back door of my house. He's been doing that since yesterday night and I kept looking out the window but nothing's there. Maybe 'something' was there but only he could see it. When I fed him breakfast, I locked him up in the cage only until he finishes. Then I let him out again when he was done so I went to wash his bowl in the kitchen. He was going to the kitchen back door sniffing and sniffing. When I finished washing, he was looking out straight at the window. I am sure he could see something I couldnt. I ignored him and I walked to the hall. Casper came along, went into his home (you can find what it looks like in my YouTube video in the link below), then he pee-d and havent potty. Came out to wipe his ding-dong and played with him a while, cleaned his ears and then told him to "go home!" Now I came upstairs back into my room to update my blog and reply here. Dont worry, he wont choke him. If he's friendly to stranger, doesnt make him look much like the suicidal type.
When he keep pulling, you just walk the opposite direction. He will follow you. You can tug the leash before turning around, this will irritate him - then over time, he will always turn his head back to check if you're there. |

I have a serious problem.
Anyone of you leave your furkid at home for 8 hours? What will happen if this is prolonged? What remedy is used to counter this problem? My grandma went to my aunt's place. My sister went to school and have tuition in the afternoon so she's not coming back home. My maid followed my grandma out to aunt's place. My parents working, so am I. Casper is home alone for the next 8 hours till my sister return at 6pm. This will be the same tomorrow and Wed also. Poor thing and I cannot take my mind of it. Hence this is also one of the reason why I would like to buy a female Westie to keep him company. |

er......i also left FIFI at home more than 8hours i think. I go out around 7.45am, back home around 6.30pm. She'll be in the cage for that period. Actually quite pity for her also, as she dun wanna pee in her cage. So 1st thing i arrive home is open cage let her pee and poo. i also think of getting FIFI a fren, but it will increase my expenses, and more work to do, i i cant really do it.

hmm...i think your puppy may still be feeling stress due to the shifting of environment...make him drink more water and play and spend more of your time with him...make him feel safe and comfortable...
we humans sometimes oso don poop when we change environment like going on vacation and stuff de la... sometimes its the feeling of being in a foreign environment that makes us feel uncomfortable..mayb your dog is experiencing the same thing... |

its alrite...if snoopy dont like water..then u can try making him love water...
i do this once in a while to my puppy as his treats and he loves it...try squeesing some fresh lemon juices into his water and let him have a taste of him...not too much of course as their sense of taste is higher than ours...jus enough to let him taste the sour and sweet taste...then slowly he will learn to love it but don gv always la...too much sour thing i think no gd for him oso de... Added on September 10, 2007, 8:07 pmbtw...u can try other fruits as well la...maybe a bit of orange juices...but let them be fresh once ok....like straight from the fruit one...cause those in cartoons may contain some things that are not gd for them... its understandable for a 1 year old plus dog to be a bit harder to adjust then a young puppy...coz they are too used to their initial environment already...
i guess all u can do is spend more time when snoopy now, and if he really don feel gd then its best sending him back la |

Ya , the owner told me it's best for me to get a puppy since im a first time dog adopter ... Haiz ... Snoopy is a very nice dog, just that he always wanna run out of the house , and i need to tie him up whenever we go out ...

actually don tie him up too much on his 1st few days here mer...cause he is still a stranger to your hse thats y he won feel well if he is tied up most of the time...
try spending more time when him and let him some space to roam around...jus to get use to the place.. |

Ya, cuddle Snoopy whenever you can to make him feel at home. Being away from his owner of 1 yr + sure will make him miserable de. Give him some time. Most important thing is that he's eating well.

my 1st week of bringing home my puppy la...i actually stayed up most of the nights coz i scare he cry or something la...coz he kept having tears in his eyes and kept waking up every 2 hours...
during the 1st few weeks would b the toughest as they are still adjusting la |

Make a flavoured soup such as boiling some chicken bones. Take away the bones and only leave the soup. I noticed he is very interested in other furkids when we goes out for a walk and he is very happy if there is someone to accompany him at home, even though that person doesn't play with him. Currently, my grandma is visiting so she is around in the house when we are away to work. Shushu just like to follow whereever grandma goes. However, I am still thinking on this - like whether the 2 dogs can get along with each other, the best time to get a dog (probably need to take some leave to housetrain the puppy) and what dog is suitable. On the expenses I agreed with you - since i will most probably be getting a smaller dog, it wouldn't be that much. Grooming chores I am also ok as that's what I do as part of the time I spend with shushu. Underground, I think snoopy is still adapting to the environment. Even human need some time to adapt when you change your environment - I am sure everyone miss their family the first time they are away from home. Snoopy probably is still missing his previous owner, especially since you have describe him as a very manja and quiet dog. Just give him more time and lots of TLC |

a companion is gd...that is if u think u have gotten the bad habits out of casper and is able to control the condition if u have 2 dogs la...like toilet train him properly and teach him and get him out of bad habits too...

He put a shih tzu puppy with her adult dogs, the adult will actually sit beside and let the puppy to stay there. THen the adult will go smell smell and like sayang the puppy. Of course the puppy will be excited too and get playful, until the adult also takut.
I dun wanna get another puppy(although i do really hope so) is bcoz, not much xtra time, money and space at home. |

In fact, I intend to breed Westie in my new home, moving next year (supposed this year but now got renvoation and chinese new year coming). My gf has a Japanese Spitz name Shadow (apparently Jap Spitz are banned in M'sia by MKA, dunno why). On the other hand Casper is like crawling mode (like ninja) all over around Shadow and then pounce at him to stand higher than Shadow. Sometimes, ter-scratch. Casper is overexcited and I wont consider him adult dog - maybe teenage dog la. I want to get a puppy female Westie to accompany Casper and soemday breed them. the 3 years gap is so that u have more time to teach casper properly...and that to ensure that he have already behave well...so that when the young puppy comes in, casper can in turn teach the young puppy to behave...this actually saves your time of training coz casper is more older and the younger one will tend to listen to him...
at least thats what i've been told... |

- i have two furkids.
- their age diff is about 2-3 months. - they get along fine, at home the smaller girl is boss, when we go makan angin the boy tends to protect her - extra food etc doesn't cost much, but luxuries will (i.e. buying 2 x cheaper carry bags, collars etc instead of one expensive one) - toys no need to buy extra, even if i buy one each, they will rebut one only and ignore the other - grooming time you WILL learn to schedule (learning how to groom properly btw is good fun - for you at least) - only problem is if you have 1 male 1 female like me is that you need to watch out for the girl coming into heat, then it is 'pampers' time. Normally 2 weeks long. - Or you can spay one or both of them my 2 cents only |

It is true, the older dog would teach the younger ones.... coz in doggy world, older dog is normally the pack adviser.... You got the Alpha, which is the leader. We humans play the role of Alpha.... but when we are not around, we got like a substitute loh, which is the oldest dog in the group. I found this through experience..... and it was really a BAD experience for me to learn about the same age gap thing......
Then I read a few dog behaviour and training books and dog keeping guides that advice on keeping your dogs with an age gap of 3 years apart. It really does make a difference. Some people have it lucky. If you have a breed that is naturally non- aggressive like a ckcs, then such cases won't come up. Shih tzus can be pretty aggressive.... I have been bitten by my old shih tzu before a number of times. So don't be fooled lah by what some people say.... I would take the safe way and wait for 3 years to pass.....even if you can't wait 3 years.... 2.5 years is still ok. |

If got strangers come , they bark non-stop 1 .. untill the person touch them ... then oni will calm down 1.. Perhaps i nid to bring them to socialise wif others dog more often ... LoL ... Xpeciali max ... wen c rotweiler oso bark till like mad dog ... den even i close d mouth ... he still bark 1... like crazy dog oni ... even say NO ... still act crazily ... I teach you one way is to pinch the doggy backside skin and his head will turn around. This is what I do every time he barks or bite on something dont let go, just curi curi pinch his butt. Pinch and smack = pain to skin but no harm to body structure like bone or heavy impact that may cause injuries. Some dogs indeed discriminate, my gf's Jap Spitz dont like indian - dunno why... I think because the Jap Spitz is white? Not sure but yes, there are discrimination even among dogs. Has anyone heard or seen a Poolky before? Hahah... 1 is selling at garage sales. I find the price high a bit.... being a crossbreed... also, this could lead to more people wanting to crossbreed to make money and to create a so called "new breed"..... then later one day end up homeless..... when people start mass producing "hybrids" then there will be one time the streets will have more homeless dogs, not only mongrels but more mixbreeds.

lol....i don dare to use those shavers and stuff la so i rather go basic grooming better ler...i scare later poke him or i cut wrongly or not balanced or something la...too risky...

Dont worry la, cut wrong the fur also can grow. Save some money to provide him better and healthier food ma... Dog fur grow damn fast la... one or two months only, wah liao eh, all over liao.
By the way, most shaver will not 'hurt' or cut the dog until bleed unless you purposely PUSH the shaver down and PRESS it against the skin. If you just zap past the fur, touch the skin oso wont kena so there's no such thing as poke him unless you purposely do it. Later, I pro with the electric shaver liao, I will start a grooming service... kaakakaka... I'm pretty good with scissors when it comes to grooming, acceptable la. When shaver, first time, got one lubang la near the butt. I cut a lot of the butt area to ensure that his poo dont get stuck on the fur there. Also, now Casper look like... got stripe due to the shaver. His fur stripe from head to tail, veli funny but cannot see with camera. If you see with eyes, more obvious - with camera, cannot really see the shades of fur. I might try to shave his name on his body next time... Hahahahaha... gila liao! |
