yea just type x as the letter 'x', but it is not 110% will work. It depends on your gc driver u installed. Normally if the driver supported for your gc, you can adjust the resolution from system preferences. Btw, by default u do need to press F8 to go to the darwin bootloader. For your case, at your startup system file (forgotten the name of the file) already written to enable the darwin bootloader.

fyi, u don have to re-install hack for the kernel. U can just replace the existing kernel with new 1 via some program (such as transmac or macdrive which can read HFS+ partition) then you must remember to repair permission via your hack disc.

Well, looks like my MAC OSX really kanasai already....nothing works. Mainly due to the ATI 4850 + LCD widescreen monitor i suppose. It was still working with the ATI 4850 + 17" CRT monitor. I suspect it could also be the DVI connection, but i'm not going to revert back to VGA. Looks like it's bye bye to MAC OSX for now. Hopefully Apple or ATI will released a driver for 4850 in err...1 year's time?? doh.gif

So sad... cry.gif

Hmm...or maybe i start buying some cheap parts in GarageSales to build a C2D HTPC...does the E21xx CPU works as well as a E4xxx CPU? Anyone here use E21xx for their MAC OSX?

Matrix, that's too bad. I read natit no support for 4850 yet.

Just bought Samsung 2253BW 22" LCD at PC Fair last Sunday, all working fine at 1680 * 1050 60Hz.

1) Kalyway 10.5.3 with NVInstaller 0.52, LCD working fine with DVI. Before installing NVInstaller, resolution
stuck at 1024 * 768. After installing NVInstaller, OS X auto switch to 1680 * 1050 res.

2) Retail install, 10.5.4 with EFI strings, working fine. No need to do anything, just plug and play, voila 1680 * 1050 mode.

I have hook up my old 17" LCD to 8800GT second port, making dual monitor. It works, no problem. thumbup.gif

guys, wanna ask, can my xps1530 have leopard in it? and izzzit dat all the hardware are working flawlessly?>
*
Dunno whether it will work on xps1530.

Not all hardware work flawlessly, simply because Apple did not write any drivers and test OS X for PC, OS X is meant for Macs only. However there are some motherboards, graphic cards, etc are quite compatible with latest Macs. If you really want to run OS X, check out the hardware compatible list.

@myee
Coz you are running into one of these white menu issue, it only happened to a few of the graphic chips.

Or you can go irc.osx86.hu and look for a proper fix.

Hey..i finally decided to try installing
I erase my HDD using disk utility in kalyway installer..
I then partiton it to 2 partitions..
One named ACER as MS-DOS and the other MACOSX as Mac OS X Journaled(Extended)

Then i insert my acer recovery dvd and it restore sucessfully and i restart..
Then it get stuck after the acer word..
Just a black screen...and no activity on my HDD at all..(light not blinking)
What can i do now...
I repeated it multiple times..

I can't even get back to vista now...
there's one moderator who did this way and also using the same laptop got it working perfectly..

Added on August 9, 2008, 9:04 pmWithout caring about my vista i just install kalyway into my laptop..
After that it boot smoothly..
Then when i restart it won't boot again..
It will just go to the appl logo then restart..again and again..

After installation on a partition, it'll screw up your partition map.
Boot with the Kalyway Disc again and F8, boot with
CODE
-s

when you reach the ssh3.2 prompt or something like that, you have to reactivate the flag for both the partition for Vista and Mac,
CODE
fdisk –e /dev/disk0
flag 2
update
write
quit
reboot

disk0 is assuming the disk you are fixing is the primary disk (disk1, disk2 and so on)
flag 2 is the partition number, assuming flag 2 is the second partition you installed your mac.

After reboot, still with CD, do fdisk again for your window partition.
Which is same as the above except this time do
CODE
flag 1
if vista is on the first partition.
**Also you may try download Gparted Live CD to flag it or either using Norton Partition Magic.

After that try boot into vista, possible that it'll get winload.exe error, i was trying with XP, it got screw up big time. Here you'll just need to insert your Vista CD/DVD and "Repair Your Computer" after the language selection.

yes there is actually. But not leopard, it is tiger. I last time dl 10.4.9, it trimmed out all the PPC code, only left the intel code and the iso is only 1.5Gb (iinm). After install is roughly 2-3GB+.

Hi hackintosh newbie here,

I plan on building a OSX86 box and I've been reading up on the hardware compatibility list on OSX86project.org.

here are the list of items i've shortlisted:
QUOTE
Motherboard: ABIT I-45CV (RM160) or GIGABYTE GA-G31M-S2L (RM190)
Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo E7200 2.53Ghz 1066fsb 3mb (RM385)
RAM: 2GB Kingston PC800 DDR2 x 2 (RM125 x 2 = RM250)
Video: ATI Radeon Sapphire HD3650 512MB DDR2 (RM200) or NVIDIA Galaxy 8500GT 512MB DDR2 (RM200)
HDD: SATA 2 Seagate 500GB 32M (RM250) or Western Digital 640GB 16M (RM270)
Casing + PSU: not sure how much it would cost. hopefully something small. suggestions?

optional purchase: WIFI USB stick: D-Link G122 (RM80) or Netgear WG111A (RM75)
Decision on the components was based on my budget of < RM1400 and complexity in installing drivers/patches (if necessary).

I was wondering if some of you hackintosh sifus can look through and give me some pointers or suggestion for alternative components.
oh and maybe clue me in on which installation would be easiest (kalyway or leo4allv3, etc) smile.gif

thank you all in advance
