yes it works if your BIOS supports it. At the moment , its only supported on Intel-Powered Hackintoshes only
*
Intel only? AMD still support, at least for the older version like 10.4.5. For the newer version, i not sure AMD can be supported or not. smile.gif

Just my 2cent.

Early this year ago, i install macosx86 in my P4 pc. Too bad for asus mobo, the LAN won't work sad.gif Anyway, it's a great try for me cos' i didn't use mac os before. Next year i plan to get macbook pro or other newer macbook

gud luck (and be patient) for your OSx86. biggrin.gif

Yep! My current issue is the agpcart, once it recognize as agp bus, it don't have QE/CI sweat.gif

hazz, you should go insanelymac forum for more details. There's got guide for installing mac osx, and some drivers guide like gc, network card, sound card and blah blah blah.. biggrin.gif

Just make it simple for you. Firstly, you do need dvd-rom/writer to read and burn mac osx iso. Then, get the latest iso, 10.4.8 with sse2 patch, cos' your processor is SSE2. Boot the dvd and install, similar like winxp installation. And remember to go customize install, tick only the component you need to install for your machine. If everything is fine, it should be able to boot after the installation.

If you get stuck at the (/) apple logo, restart your pc and press "F8" before booting to the apple logo to get the console screen. Type "-v -f " without the quote, and press "enter". Right now, you need to edit the NV40 kext (.plist) in order to let mac recognize your gc. After editing, remember to repair permission. Check the insanelymac forum under tutorials(the genius bar), i forgotten those codes to repair the files.

Basically that's it. You might encounter some driver problem, like network card driver, sound driver and so on. Check the forum for more helps or details XD Btw, anyone can feel free to correct my rough guide thumbup.gif Merry Xmas, Hackintosh cool2.gif

i press -v -f and it stuck at the GeForce.ktext

how do i fix the driver problems here?

After you type -v -f, it still won't boot to desktop? You might want go to single mode by typing -x

it's like what my macbook boots into Mac OS but it stuck at blue screen before it loads the desktop things
*
Either you type "-x" or "-s", i kinda forget which one is single mode or console mode. doh.gif doh.gif If you cant even load into single mode, i guess you can try boot into console mode before you re-install hackintosh. biggrin.gif Remember, you need know some basic command in the console mode.

I thought one fella in this thread says that you don't need to burn it.. Just mount it would do..

Nyway, you can't actually create a cd iso based on DVD AFAIK

Oh ya... Err. guys i'm wondering... Can my pc handle OSX without any conflicts? Sked drivers problem...

Centrino 1.5 GHz
Sigmatel C-Major
Intel PRO/100 VE
Intel Extreme Graphics 2

How? =3 Currently waiting patiently for my Whooping 2.4 gb of JAS 10.4.7 to complete
*
Hmm.. Kinda hard for your pc to handle. Centrino and Intel EG2. You can try. Good luck to you wink.gif

QUOTE(youngkies @ Jan 12 2007, 07:35 PM)
you will need VMWare for that..
*
yep!! Then you need do some configue here adn there. Not so easy install via VMWare compare to dvd installation. cool2.gif

Sad to say that Celeron is not driver problem. You should try google to check celeron is SSE2 or not? If it's not, don't bother to install hackintosh wink.gif You need at least SSE2 to install hackintosh. And as for your integrated graphics, i'm not sure mac os got such driver or not. sorry dude.. Try go http://insanelymac.com for more help

Check this out: http://wiki.osx86project.org/wiki/index.ph...allation_Guides

10.5 (Leopard) is available although buggy. laugh.gif

Btw, how do I update my 10.4.7 to 10.4.8? I heard that there is something called "ppf" patch to update.
*
That's cos' it's under beta. That's why it's buggy. Just beta release by apple. And they bypass the kernel (as usual)

Just get 10.4.8 update from apple site or ehem site. And you must get the patch kernel in order to work for your hackintosh.

or if u hv the JAS 10.4.8 DVD, then run the installation again wit the new patches, it will just update the OS without clean installation/removing all the previous stuff as long as u dont format the previous partition, just click the installed partition to continue with.

gosh! i changed my GC to 9550 but i still cant get 1280*1024.. if select system preferences, it will go out of range, if edit the boot.plist, the screen will go all crazy and unreadable when boot into OS. what more can i do? does that means something wrong with the GC driver etc, or compatibility of my system issue? anyone any idea?
*
Hmm.. what's your previous gc ? I use 9550 before. It depends on brands i think. For my case, i use the 9700.kext. Put your gc id and dev inside it. And reboot. It should work. I can't use AGPGART for my case, i think is my mobo issue. My mobo BIOS don't have the option to set Aperture size. Weird right? If 9700.kext don't work for you, then you might want try Callisto build driver (it won't work for me)

thanks for the reply.

callisto + agpart by katana pack works for me.. it detects the right GC but no QE/CI enabled and cant change the resolution too. at least graphic acceleration and opengl is enabled. can run skype  thumbup.gif

9700.kext, it enables my QE/CI but then graphic card is not detected as 9550.. weird!

the real problem is i cant seems to make it suit 1280*1024.. i dont mind not having qe/ci for such low end GC, but at least i want to hv right resolution on screen, else hard for my eyes.

oh ya my GC is MSI RX9550 256mb. else i gonna change GC to Nvidia for easier patching and better functioning in hackintosh.

one more thing, what is the aperture size in BIOS?

without qe/ci, wat else u cant do? all i can think of now is cant watch dvd.

@minority

ya agree with u.. gonna fed up wit radeon and change to nvidia
*
If you want set to 1280x1024, you can try type "Graphics Mode"="1280x1024x32" in the boot screen. If everything works fine, it should give you that resolution. Then, you can modify the com.apple.boot.plist. Since you use callisto, it should have the option to set the resolution. Or you might want delete AGPGart. AGPGart is very unstable atm. It still alot of bug. If you use AGPGart, you should set the aperture size in 128MB. I think that's sum up everything. Ooops, forgot one thing. Without qe/ci, lotz of stuff you cant do or have buggy app. Eg, dashboard got some animation and w/o qe, i really find it really lagging or sometimes hang. sweat.gif Well, it depends how you use it. Personally, i prefer with qe/ci. I use 9700.kext and add "Graphics Mode"="1280x1024x32" in com.apple.boot.plist. It works fine for me, except that it detect my gc as 9600gs, i can play games like wc3 brows.gif

ok thanks.. i will try again with 9700.kext later then. i tried tht before, it worked once before something else wrong and i reformat + the mouse tearing is horrible.. else gonna change another GC or just wait patiently for the 24" iMac  drool.gif

callisto gives resolution choices in preferences, but everytime i choose 1280*1024, my screen goes out of range and nothing else can be done.
*
That's what happen to me as well. That's why i use 9700 instead.

I attach this antitear to solved the mouse tearing issue. Actually i get it at insanelymac forum. You need mightymouse app.

U guyz think my PC spec can run this smoothly??

P4 2.4GHz 533FSB
512MB DDR
Ati 9800SE
*
Err.. smooth as what? biggrin.gif It's unstable.. That's what my opinion. Best is you using processor that is SSE3 (PD, C2D, etc) support. Well you can try. You better go #osx86 and find prasys. He does help alot.. Or you can find me.. I also willing to help ya. First for the start, dl 10.4.8 with SSE2 (P4 is SSE2 processor) patch iso at torrent. wink.gif

i tried installing osx86 (jas 10.4.6) natively on my hardisk. i wanted to boot only to osx so i wipe my whole hd clean. when i boot the jas iso, it gave me the installation menu and all the others. i noticed one thing, in one window(i cant remember which), it detect my iso disk as 10.4.4 and not 10.4.6. i wonder whether i wrongly downloaded the iso.

i formatted the hd to hfs+ partition and went to install osx86. the installation went smooth but when it restart after the installation process, it did not recognized the boot sector.

i went on installing ubuntu for its grub without wiping the osx partition but again, after restart, it did not detect the boot sector. did i made mistakes when installing? can anyone help?
*
Guess you dl the wrong version hmm.gif

what do you mean boot sector?
Is it boot menu/boot loader?

Performance much faster in 10.4.9 compare to 10.4.8 because of updated opengl in 10.4.9 rclxms.gif

PS: That's what i heard so far. I just finish dl the dmg, but havn't install blush.gif

It seems very convienient.

But i afraid, using XP like this will be attack by spywares, rite?
