As far as I know, Macs does not use 815g. That's probably reason why you can't find driver for onboard video. You will have better luck with NVidia or ATI.

I got stuck at that reso too. Are you on Nvidia? But i don't read anyone talk about any better resolution than that.

Someone asked me to try nvkush, instead of the nvinject.
*
I found nvkush and nvinject does not work for my Nvidia 8800GT 512MB. You can try NVInstaller (nvinstaller.com), it works for me before.

I no longer use NVInstaller anymore. Right now I use EFI string to make use of existing OSX 8800 GT drivers.

As far as I know, no Macs uses 865g. So no existing osx drivers for 865g unless some one mod or write a driver. If your hardware is not in the HCL, most likely the driver is not available. Good luck in finding driver.

EFI strings does not work for 865g. It merely provide the video hardware info with OS X. In turn OS X recognise it and loads the correct drivers. For example, 8800GT card is available for Mac Pro , therefore OS X have the driver. If you want to run OSX on PC, get your hardware as close as possible to Intel Macs.

What do you mean menu is blank ? Menu appears blank or menu does not appear at all ?

I tested right click on Kalyway 10.5.2, it work fine. The usual menu pop up. You can try control key with left mouse click, is the same.

Look, dood.

There is no start menu or the need of one in Mac.

Spotlight can quick launch any apps anywhere in your mounted volume, shortcut or alias files simply a bit irrelevant now.

If you still prefer the old way of compiling shortcuts and manage it for fun or just for eye-candy effect, drag them into the dock, if it gets a bit crowded there, try creating stacks within the dock.

* I thought you were having missing menu contents, that's funny.

Probably something wrong with your installation DVD, could be corrupted. Reinstall and try again. If still can not, get others leo4all or etc and try agin.

Look about in the installation option for the above items in the list.

oh-oh...my new BENQ 22" LCD completely nuke my MAC OSX installation. It now keeps rebooting itself.

I understand you can press F8 at startup to manually set the video mode but how?

When it boots up, all i can set is the -v option, which is no use since it'll reboot very fast.

I read somewhere i can use ?video to check the video mode, but it's not responding to this command.

Do i need to enter -v -x -s (or something) to set this? I read somewhere b4, but can't find the info again!

Coz you are running into one of these white menu issue, it only happened to a few of the graphic chips.

Or you can go irc.osx86.hu and look for a proper fix.

-v is verbose mode, where the load sequence is rendered on screen so you can diagnose the hang.
-s is single user mode
-x i think is safe mode

After pressing F8, the Darwin screen will prompt something like Boot_
That's where you key in the boot keystroke and press return.

If it still doesn't load with all these, try change another kernel to boot.

Thanks, but on my setup, i think it ask me to press ENTER for startup options instead of F8...anyway, i can get to the screen below:

I found the parameters again here:
http://apple2pc.blogspot.com/2008/02/darwi...ot-options.html

I read from somewhere i need to enter the
"Graphics Mode"="1680x1050x32@60"

Is the 'x" suppose to be 'x' or '*'??

And how to change a different kernel? Re-install? sweat.gif
need to try tonight.

yea just type x as the letter 'x', but it is not 110% will work. It depends on your gc driver u installed. Normally if the driver supported for your gc, you can adjust the resolution from system preferences. Btw, by default u do need to press F8 to go to the darwin bootloader. For your case, at your startup system file (forgotten the name of the file) already written to enable the darwin bootloader.

fyi, u don have to re-install hack for the kernel. U can just replace the existing kernel with new 1 via some program (such as transmac or macdrive which can read HFS+ partition) then you must remember to repair permission via your hack disc.

on the prompt Boot: _ (yes, type it here and return)
you can type the kernal name to boot with,
sleepkernel
speedstepkernel
nforcekernel
modbinkernel
vanillakernel
kabylkernel

according to kalyway, all kernel is installed but only one is load.

If your system was working fine before, try get in with -x (as in x) and try remove the new kext you have just installed most recently.

-v will let you see the hang is occur during which kext is loading, looking for the looping error line.
