I think apps are better than dating agencies, and social gatherings are better than dating apps.

There isn't much value in a dating agency that an app deosn't already provide. Agencies can only match you with what they have in their pool, if their pool sucks so will your choices. So why limit yourself to their pool when dating apps gives you a much wider access and control?

Social gatherings are the best because everyone is there with a similar interest, so breaking the ice is really easy. Even if there are no targets in the immediate circle, being friendly with them opens you up to their circles, and you'll be personally vetted as a friend which lowers resistance.

I've been hesitant to question the need to pay premium for dating agencies, or even to get premium features on the apps.... But given my gender, I may come off as inconsiderate for men's circumstances glad to know others share same sentiment!

In my experience back then (as lady looking for men), I did encounter lots of bad profiles (scammers, hookup, undesirable, duplicate across platforms,...) But I simply worked within the free versions -- browsed 10 per day on CMB, if got mood then look into suggestions, never had the urge to pay to use more...

It's just so time consuming to engage with strangers to me, I just took my time lah. Already 30yo, +1 or 2 more years no difference ady

I don't mean it as a red flag against the guy, but was referring to the "10 profiles per day" limitation by CMB that a duplicate profile would be wasting the quota. That said, I used multiple apps too and was also part of the problem lol.

IC....I came across girl creating new profile because of losing the password of the old one. I think carelessness won't be a red flag but it could be a weakness needs to be deal with. And it is normal that duplicated profiles could be labelled as desperate...lol

This happened to ALL my matches.
Maybe it's just how lousy I am at talking. So I guess guys who can't talk are destined to be foreveralones?

One of the girl says it's not normal for girls to initiate conversation. Is this true? Guy has to do all the work? Or is this just a Malaysia thing?

Could be scammers.

So far I have like 4 active apps in use. Tan Tan, PakTor, Boo and CMB.

CMB seems most legit in terms of profiles and photos.

PakTor a lot of fake Thai and China Mei.

Tan Tan also got China Mei but they don't reply.

Boo has many many random stuffs but scammers also exist there.

For me, I have been chatting with one I met on CMB ever since I had the app back like 1 month ago.

She seems to fit my criteria and all but only set back is she taking things extremely slow, so I gotta follow the pacing too.

My Suggestion: give yourself a time frame, if friendship doesn't convert to bgr after the deadline, next and move on.

We went to Whatsapp and started our daily chats with the intention in mind that it will develop further. However, we are going step by step as in she doesn't want to rush into a relationship straight away. She wanna slowly get to know each other first then only slowly proceed.

Be realistic. For me I dont swipe on those model type or super gorgeous type or fat profile (health reason). I choose wifey material. So far few people responded. Going on my date form CMB this weekend.

Whether it work out or not yet to be seen. I will asked them out after around a month of chatting with them. Those don't want to go out, I just move on.

Take it slow. Don't rush. Sometimes girls get scared if you rush them. Go out makan2, chit chat, hiking, window shopping.

For me if the girl fit my criteria, I will ask them out after say a month of chatting. If they don't want to come out I asked a second time. 2nd time don't want, I don't bother already.

Is it worth it to pay for premium (Rm70 monthly) on CMB ? I like the userbase there, but that shit seems expensive compare to Bumble, Tinder, TanTan, etc.

Personally, TanTan and FB Dating is btm tier for me, too many fake profiles.
