if it's under your Suggested, you can send a message and free to swipe, 20 profiles or so a day not too sure

if Discover can only heart, swipe need beans, if out of beans need to pay

Wow sifu from finance subforum diversifying into love life brows.gif
Kasi 2 cents here: Always go the extra mile by leaving personalised messages to every person you like: ask/comment something about their profile to start the conversation:
- skip the formality: hi how are you etc. are pointless exchanges to me. I hate small talks tongue.gif
- get to know the person faster: see how they talk about themselves, and whether they steer the conversation back to you (to show mutual interest)
- show your sincerity in investing for the to-be relationship: after all, if you can't even spend the extra minutes to write a nice message to start, will you even commit down the road?

People can tell if you copy paste message like "hi beauty, I like your profile smile.gif" it's a turnoff no matter how flowery you decorate your template message.

Getting old la. Need to settle down.

Thanks for the tips. Yike. I have just been leaving likes without any messages. No wonder no text or likes back sad.gif

What's your recommendation range? I put 80km. Don't know if it's too big area.

Oh, mind if I ask what's your age? I think CMB is a platform for 20s-30s... Not sure about the pool for other age groups.

Personally, I prefer meeting weekly and 80km would be too far for my taste to make that happen... So I put 40 back then.

Also, just to give more perspective to you... I used 2 dating apps back then for about 2 years, FB dating being the other -- that's also where I met my bf tongue.gif I think it's totally fine to use multiple apps to see which app you like more, but be warned that it does not necessarily speed things up, because you will start seeing duplicate profiles on both apps. It takes a lot of time to sift through many fake/scammer profiles, so it can get pretty disheartening sometimes. Don't give up if you are sure that you want to settle down with a partner one day, but remember you can always do it at your own pace and take breaks whenever you want smile.gif

Hi everyone. Been quite a guest lurker for quite some time, but finally registered an account to talk about it haha. MCO hits hard, esp for extroverted people. I have started using several dating app since then and I was wondering what's everyone's thoughts on the best dating app for men? Here's my personal thoughts on the several apps I have tried on and off for the past 2 years:

Badoo: 0/5
Not for Malaysians I feel. All I managed to swipe is foreigners :/

Tinder: 1/5
It was the first dating app I tried, I think this was one of the "og" dating app in the market anyway. But bad experience. Most of the girls there are looking for dtf and what's worst is there are way too many scammers and fake profile. Didnt really like how people can put a cartoon pic or animal pic etc. I felt like girls there are only there for the grams "follow me on IG: xx to know more about me wink.gif ". People there also seem effortless! I mean surely there is some great users there (seen some success stories in the past) but I am too unlucky that I see empty bio, fake pic, group pic, which really made me ugh when I am swiping. Matching rate are low too! Maybe around 100 times, I will get to match with 2-3 girls when I'm on a lucky day, but if not, then it would be 0 matches. That is probably not the worst. The worst has to be when you chat with them, they ghost you or send you their IG profile ... Or scams... "do you have Line? I do not use this software always". Oh please, this is obviously a scam and who the heck in Malaysia call an "app" a "software" anyway?

FB Dating: 1/5
The user pool is a mixture of locals and foreigners, also felt like users there doesnt put effort on their profiles (ie: anyhow snap one pic and put in). Worst is I always see users who are mutual friend of my friends, quite awkward that it is displayed there somehow...

Tantan: 2/5
100% Chinese-speaking user pool. As a Malay who is seeking more friends from various race, it is quite hard to find people to communicate with you, and quite hard to get likes. Even if you get likes, you might need to use google translate to talk to them. Other than that, most chats I got was asking you to download another casino/live streaming app puke.gif I re-installed it recently but I think the quality dropped compared to the early days when I used it! I remember when I first tried, the user pool quality were quite decent, but now scammers everywhere...

Hinge: 3/5
Ok this app is not avai in Malaysia afaik. But I stay in JB and work in SG so I am also putting this in. Hinge looks like an atas version of Tinder imo. They also have an audio prompt on the profile. Girls there are realllly pretty and put effort to put their pics thumbup.gif (imagine dating app version of IG), but the user pool seem to be filled with majority 18-20 year old girls! I am already 28 so it is hard to find girls who are willing to like me! And I dont think i can afford to date a singaporean haha. Can only use this app to see pretty amois. Brownie points for real amois thumbup.gif

CMB: 3.5/5
Overall a decent dating app, for those looking for serious relationship kononnya. But the drawback is...bagels are only given every noon :/ Great thing is there is not much empty bio since you are somewat obligated to fill in the profile. All the girls I met is quite friendly albeit i did not spark with any of them. Felt quite hard to get match due to limited bagels tho. Also limited likes (look screenshot). Been playing...I think around 2 years now? Only 95 likes? Also another expensive premium :/

Omi: 4/5
Started playing this app early this year, so far it is okayish. They have verified profiles only option so i think it's quite ok la. One thing I like is you can replace omi app logo with another logo in your phone (hey, i want to play it during working hours and not letting my colleague see that the notifications are from omi lol sweat.gif ). Their premium is also cheapest of all app I have seen (tinder 2nd cheapest fyi but drawback is tinder doesnt have quality match at all). Ok so another thing i really like is i can seek self validation here. For a guy, sometimes they play dating app not only because they want to get chats etc, but also to see their "market value". The ranking thing in the app is quite satisfying (see screenshot below). I would say Omi is like a "Malaysia version" of Bumble. As of now, I have dated few girls from Omi altho it didnt spark well either, but it was a great date and we are still friends. One drawback among all app is that you need some kesabaran if u want to find Indians and Chinese in this app! Overall, I would say most apps has various race but lesser in omi lol

Bumble: 4/5
Bumble is one of the app that everyone in my social circle calls it an app who those looking for serious relationship too. So far, I don't deny that and people I have managed to swipe or even match seems like from professional career. Most people here speak English too. Girls I seen look okay too, looks real. I also like the "verified profile only" filter as well. But the only issue is "ladies message first" might not really work in Malaysia! I think the society teach us that guys must take the initiative etc too much and seems like most girls I matched with are shy!...so far, I have decent matches, but at times, girls I matched doesnt know how to start a convo, hence I am getting "empty successful" match if you get what I mean. The Premium is also quite expensive compared to other dating app (RM110 if bought for 1 month). I've also met several people here, altho it seems that people I met are really genuine and those who chat are really those who take initiative/not shy (had one date where during first date...she talked about our future which honestly freaks me out abit haha sweat.gif )

Nowadays physical dating is already possible with dating agencies eg Dateworks, Lunch Actually. Why are you still only looking at apps?

Walk into agency office. Tell them your type of woman. Plonk down some cash. And you will meet someone soon.

Or you can just join them on an one-off dating event and meet many women immediately.

So I assume it sort of blind date? But is it costly? Imagine not meeting the right one to even be friends after many rounds..

Not a blind date purely…agency will match your requirements with a girl as best as they can and set up a date for you both

Oh soga. Will try if dating app doesnt work. I find dating app more niche than agencies after brief googling. Also mainly because I'm sort of busy with projects recently to set up a date for the moment being. Thanks!
