May I ask how much you guys spend in a month on cat food? I kinda dare not count the cost because mine are mainly eating wet food so the money spent is substancial.

Spending way too much on wet foods.
My 2 cats are very fussy and even though I have royal canin dry foods they want wet foods maybe 3 times a day. Often they leaving quite a bit.

I have tried many brands.

What wet foods are people using and you happy with. I have bought cheaper brands but they just look and smell terrible. Pay a little more and you can see nice fish or chicken.

wht wet food u buy?

can cheat add wet + kib, c they will eat ornot, or
add warm water to wet food to increase volume, so d cat is full and wet food can last bit longer.
i think prodiet broth is cheap + can see got ayam etc instead of those all grounded up type..

I have just 1 cat, 1 year old. Spending rm60/month for kibbles. I don't feed him wet food from cans. Only sometimes give him boiled chicken breast.

Also do you let your cats graze all day - I mean have dish of dry food all day or do you only put dry food down certain times.

Mine have always grazed. They eat when they want. They have got used to wet food several times a day but they are so fussy they will often either eat it all up or leave it. In the heat of malaysia food doesn't last long.

I will try boiled chicken again as it certainly cheaper than 3 cans of food per day

free feeding cat will be spoilt,
+ d food wont be fresh, and
it will definitely cost you more cos they over eat,
and refuse to eat food tht was exposed to air, ants etc ..

That's the thing... after eating wet food for some months mine don't really want dry food already....and the cheaper wet foods makes my cat vomit sometimes. Had to buy better ones but they eat about 4 times a day so my money is just flying away. Sometimes I boil chicken to add into their wet food, but cannot do very often because they don't like it. My cat also sometimes lau sai if she eats rice, so cannot add rice to her food also. Currently I rotate these few canned foods:

Fussie cat
Royal Canin
Carnilove
Aixia Kuro
Sheba

Thanks for your input.

Dry foods tried lots of brands but settled on royal canine as they often didn't like very expensive higher protein ones. They have been fine on that.

Wet tried sheba, fancy feast and others. Also tried boiling or steaming chicken.

I think I will try keeping feeding times - easier when working but not so easy during lockdown at home when cats pester a bit and I give in too easily

Take note the canned fancy feast we have in Malaysia is not the same as the recommended one in other countries. If you read behind the can it says supplementary feeding only. I suppose if you are also feeding kibble and other foods then it is ok.

I feed mine whenever he's standing at his food bowl. Just 1 small scoop each time.

He's pretty much a spoiled cat. I have been working from home for 1 full year (before getting him), so always need human by his side.

If your cats need to lose weight, meal times are very good for this. Make sure they don't lose weight too fast, this will cause them to have fatty liver disease.

Mine are fed four times a day, two wet two dry. The dry is by autofeeder.

I guess our pets are all spoiled coz most of us are working from home during this pandemic laugh.gif n I've been on sabbatical leave for almost 4 yrs now, cant imagine how my pets will cope without human companion during the day when I'm back to work soon confused.gif
