yea these @&@%$+ male cats are most like how you've described, even tho neutered @ a very young age.
Those that likes to bite are the dominant types, n they will bully other cats.

I don't know about solutions. unless you have ways to tire them to death.
*
Yeah I have a one as described. I also looking for the solution. Bite me until I bleed like crazy. I really dunno what to do with him. Release him to porch, within an hour ready to pick fight with outside cat. Zzz. Now is self isolation in room like prison

My female cat just gave birth to 3 kittens.. unfortunately, 2 died. Not sure what to do with their corpse, for the time being just wrapped them in a paper and put in an empty box.

Also, is there any special food to give a cat who just gave birth? Preferably wet food since she can't eat dry food at all. For now, just been giving her royal canin.
*
Tanam saja. I just gave wetfood to mummy cat. But not consistent also. Sometimes give dry

Spending way too much on wet foods.
My 2 cats are very fussy and even though I have royal canin dry foods they want wet foods maybe 3 times a day. Often they leaving quite a bit.

I have tried many brands.

What wet foods are people using and you happy with.  I have bought cheaper brands but they just look and smell terrible. Pay a little more and you can see nice fish or chicken.
*
My favourite. Ciao! Maybe cause smell like human food. Quite expensive though. Cheapest is rm3.70 per can

Hi guys, I'm new to this kitty thing, but I'm a bit worried about getting swindled when it comes to the price of a BSH kitten. Is RM3.2k considered standard pricing? Should it come with a cert as well?
*
please adopt. don't buy. you can go to https://www.petfinder.my/ to find a free bsh or other breed. many stray cats out there need your help.

stray cats can be beautiful too, if they are well taken care of. to give you encouragement, this is a stray cat. when I got him, he is hungry, dirty, and kutu infested kitten. 50% rescued by others, 50% chance die from hunger or car roller, if i don't rescue him. look how beautiful is he now.

once you got your cat, you eventually will be cat lover, and eventually you will know the harm of buying. not gonna elaborate how breeders work, but yeah, just like eating sharkfin. the killing stops when the buying stops.

Anyone here had success changing litter from bentonite/ clay litter to tofu?

I heard overall benefits of tofu is slightly better. Lesser dust, and cat doesn't inhale/ eat bentonite particles.

But my 8 year old has been very difficult about this lol. Even though I gradually mix (talking 20% tofu 80% old bentonite), she just refuses to use her litter bin.

She controls and goes like once a day only now. Sometimes relieving herself outside her bin even.

Should I just give up? I tried 2 brands, most recent is pottycats i think.
*
No issue for me. From those cheap sand litter to tofu. Didn't even mix. Direct change

How old? spayed? neutered?

Most ppl may not agree with me but I cage my 2 cats at night, basically they are trained from they were very small to be in the cage n sleep at night, they are already used to it, usually I will 'tuck' them to sleep everynight before I go to bed, n let them out in the morning so that they dont bother me at night. Sleep time is one thing I cant compromise coz I'm working frm 8-5pm except now that Im on my sabbatical leave sweat.gif other things like food they can have anytime  wink.gif

One of the advantges of training my cats to be in the cage is when i have to go somewhere for a while, i can send them to a cage based boarding place without stressing them out too much, that is if i have no other choices huhu..
*
You miss the sweetest part of having cat as pet hehe. My 2 cats sleep in room with me. Before sleep, one will purr me, I touch touch touch until sendiri fell asleep. 5am one will purr me, and I just blindly touch touch touch continue sleep.

But now, the cat get smarter. Rarely 5am wake me up. I wake up, he heard movement on bed then will jump up purpurpur me. Best wake up call

QUOTE(jukoh @ Mar 11 2021, 03:37 PM)
More than 5 years ago, we originally planned to adopt from PetFinder and contacted the person.  However, her requirements were those who adopt must not put the kitten in a cage.  For us, we do not plan to let out the kitten we adopt because don't want to risk it getting attacked by other cats outside or knocked down by cars.  While it won't be 24x7 in the cage, we will lock it in when nobody is home.  The person who put the cat for adoption said even that is not acceptable.  So, in the end we bought a 6 month old kitten for a few hundred ringgit from a couple who had to sell because their young child is allergic.  No regrets because the cat we got is the sweetest ever.  Never scratch or bite any of us and love belly rubs.  He also uses the scratching post only and does not scratch anything else once we told him not to do so the first time he tried to do it.  So, whether you adopt or buy, most important is to be a responsible pet owner.
*
Hehe. I don't agree cage too. Free roam inside house. No go outside. House is their cage. But your house, your choice, so no comment.

Feel pity leh put in cage, like 90% of time in prison only. I had 2 fcov cats isolated in a room. I also feel pity their roaming space so limited and trying find adopter who can give them bigger space to roam.

He's breathing heavily when I found him around 7:00pm. (now the breathing already slow down & I think he's sleeping). He can still walk a bit just now and pick up his head.
Hopefully he's not being knock by cars.

What can I do to help him tonight... tomorrow morning I will go to veterinary for checkup.
*
Hope he is fine. I also dunno how. Perhaps spend more time accompany him

lol yeah my two cats are never caged unless we're taking them to the vet. They aren't allowed outside either - average outside cat lifespan is 5 years, average inside cat lifespan is 15 years.
*
If outside cat lifespan 5 years i will be glad. From my experience it's 6months to 1 year.

Outside my house got alot of strays. I do put some buffet food for them at my porch. The rate is 9/12 cats are dead or missing within 1 year. Still got 3 cats roaming outside for 1 year+.

Dead reasons usually roll by car, bitten by stray dog. Some just goes missing. I assume they are dead too cause sometimes neighbour say they clean up corpse at garden few times d. Or kill by snake cause got snake incident in neighbourhood too.

QUOTE(Hobbez @ Apr 12 2021, 04:28 AM)
What do you people think about caging a cat? Becos like others say, cats have short lifespan if allowed to roam around. Cos of cars, dogs, fighting and getting sick....etc.

Now every "expert" says it is not ok to cage up a cat. And that is true - at first. Cats hate it. Especially stray cats.

But what if the stray cat had to spend WEEKS in a cage being boarded at the vet due to operation....and has since become "trained" to accept a cage?

What if after going home, the cat doesn't like the kid in the house becos that kid is just noisy and a bit rowdy with the cat?

So from my observation, the cat actually prefers being in the cage NOW. Especially if got litter box and food/water provided.

It seems the cat has come to associate the cage with "peace and quiet".

Is it ok to keep the cat in the cage from now on? What if the cat is suspected to have FIV or FLV and caging it up is actually a good move to lengthen its life?

Or can a previously stray cat (actually just free to roam here and there, and being fed by multiple houses) be "trained" to become an indoor house cat?

Has anyone done this before? Made a stray cat become a indoor house cat?

So many benefits for cats to be indoors. And definitely can live > 10 years like this.
*
All my cats are stray and fully indoor. Once you indoor, is highly subjective to let them roam outdoor. They can go missing, accident or contract virus home. But my neighbours let them roam. Pro and cons. Freedom vs those risk.

My cats fully indoor and roam freely in the house. I never believe cats like to be cage. Do you want yourself to be caged? We can't even stand for half a day. They no bising doesn't mean they like. It's they accept. Like prisoner, do they create riot daily? They just accept but doesn't mean they like.

I have fcov cats too. Keep them in a room. Feel pity despite have a full room. They always meow want to out of room. I can only let them vacation out once in a while daily.

What's the point of long live if you live in prison? And the prison is freaking small. Cage vs room vs house. If you think cat likes to be in cage, open the cage door. She like she will stay there forever. If she is not , it's your self fulfilling prophecy.

What if nobody at home (all working) to care for the cat indoors?

And due to a health issue, is best to cage the cat, otherwise will get worse?
*
I don't understand why free roaming inside the house give problem to health? Maybe can explain more. If you worry your things get broken, then you have to adjust your furniture. Surprisingly none of my cats break anything. They walk delicately.

If leg issue like you mentioned, I think the cat can decide herself when to walk and jump? Takkan pain still dumb dumb go jump. Like human, whole day sit sofa die first or another human who walk around daily?

QUOTE(Hobbez @ Apr 14 2021, 12:25 PM)
What if the cat is suspected of having FLV or FIV? And these are long term health issues which make them more vulnerable to get other issues.

So the best step would be to cage them up permanently (but in a large cage)?
*
Do you scared the cat infect other healthy cat? If there is only 1 cat again I don't understand why roaming around inside house is issue to health.

The only thing you need make sure is doors windows always closed. Then they won't roam outside and missing.

Well, all cats are different, and this cat already get an accident after being uncaged just for a few days. Suffered a big wound on the leg dunno caused by what. Maybe dog bite........

And the former issue is also leg related  dry.gif

As for roaming inside house, well the cat doesn't seem to like being confined to the house; previously it was a free roaming stray cat, so you cannot expect it to like being indoors. However, being in the cage seems quite ok for it maybe, after so long being boarded at the vet (so gotten used to being confined to a small cage).

Secondly, the people are not in the house to "jaga" the cat. And then they also don't like the smell of cat poo indoors.

And finally, I am not the one looking after the cat. Just asking out of concern for its future and wellbeing. I am just helping them to look after it if you understand what I mean  laugh.gif

I also seen in my housing area, numerous cats dying after getting knocked down by cars, so I am fully aware how short of a life that a stray cat has. Not even 2 years for many of them. It is a very harsh life out there.
*
Seems complicated lol. How many cats and dogs in the house? So you are in a sharing housemates / working adult house?

For my cats, they always want out the room and roam. They will meow once in a while. Now you mentioned, yeah they won't meow in cage too. Sometimes I put those fcov cats in cage in living room for a 'break' away from room. But of course if you open cage door, they will roam. This shows they don't want be confined either.

I am not cat, but rationally no living things want to be confined. You are right outside can't survive long. My experience is 3/11 outside cats is surviving for 1.5years now. Others dead or missing.

Ok. Background stories are clear. You can't keep that cat indoor because your family don't like. Not about the cat health prob cause it's never a problem to health roaming inside the house.

I also have communities cats which few houses fed. As mentioned now only 3/11 survived after 1.5 years. It breaks my heart everytime one of them dead or missing. My own consolation is, at least they lived their live with freedom. And won't lack of food during their lifetime living in my neighbourhood. I also have the urged to adopt them but my house full of cats. No more capacity.

Heck I can also buy a cage, caged them at the porch. But what's the meaning? I am sure it's not what the cats want.

Since the cat is injured and will injured easily again outside, best you can do is find the cat an adopter that can give the cat cage free life. Temporarily you can cage him while searching but for whole life? That's torturing.

Of course there are alot of ppl who cage them. But that doesn't mean it's the right thing to do, at least in my opinion. I think you are in dilemma too, otherwise you won't be asking opinion. Finding adopter is best solution, it's just whether you want go the extra mile persistently. Lucky you know sending to shelter is gg

My cat is infected with kutu...
Saw tiny worms crawling on my sofa.

So now i comb as much as i can to get rid the kutu.
Question is, my cat sleep here and there in house. I'm trying my best to identify the spot using roller dust to stick the kutu. If my cat is clean already, will it easily get infected if i didn't clean properly the house?
To totally terminate the kutu in house is like impossible mission. Scare the kutu drop here and there.

If i use mosquito spray to spray the area, will the kutu die?
*
Got 2 ways.
1. Spray with frontline once. Can last for weeks without reinfection, if your house plenty kutu. That spray rm80 can use multi times.
2. Put revelation. Can last 1 month per dose. Rm40 per dose.

Bring kutu cat to vet la. They will do either step for you. Then next time you know what to buy and can apply your own if you want jimat vet consultation
