hi, anyone knows any person or organisation that takes in cats infected with sporo for rehabilitation?

last weekend i brought a stray to the vet because it had sore eyes. turns out it had contracted sporotrichosis.

vets advise were:

1) if i cant rehab it, have to find someone who can because the commitment to do it is quite high.

2) PTS (put to sleep)

so now im trying to look for people who can save this cat. i only have medicine for 2 weeks and after that i might euthanise the cat for the greater good.

if anyone has any avenues please send me a pm, thanks.

my queen just delivered 4 litter. but the last one is premature and very undeveloped. hope it can survive.

Just saw this message. I hope your kitten survived. My cat delivered 6 kittens and 2 were stillborn. The last one is the runt of the litter and we were worried it would not survive (bald headed and very weak). It was back in November during CMCO and we called nearby pharmacies to find out whether they sell milk powder and feeding bottle/syringe for baby kittens. After that we had to help the runt get enough milk from mother cat during every feeding then supplement by bottle feeding every 2 hours. By the time he's 1 month old he slowly grew stronger and growing more hair. By 2nd month old, he's starting to look handsome. Now he's the fattest/heaviest and most handsome out of the litter and is well loved by everyone. We're really thankful we managed to save him.

For me usually I would just put newborn kitttens and the mother in a good sized cage with a litter box n other basic necessities for the mother. This is to prevent the mother from transferring the kittens to other unkown places eg in a cupboard etc. its the mother's instinct to do this until the kittens can walk and fend on their own. I would let the mother go out of the cage every now n then tho a mother who just delivered do not walk around too much. The kittens will eventually learn to use the litter box in the cage on their own. Once they are used to doing their business in the litter box then only I would let them out the cage roaming around the house. U can also use a play pen or a small room if u dont have a cage.

Having said that maybe others have different and better ways of training their kittens smile.gif

We dare not put our mother cat and kitten in the cage because worried their little legs will get caught in the cat cage grill. We put them all in a big cardboard box and mother cat trust us enough not to move the kittens elsewhere because we accompanied her during delivery. You only start training kittens how to use litter box when they start eating solid food. Before that, mother cat is the one stimulating kittens to do their business by licking and cleaning them.
When your kitten grows little teeth and start eating the dry food (we feed dry food for Kittens to mother cat), you can start putting the litter box near them. Get a smaller one which they can climb in/out from easily. The best teacher is the mother cat so you must let her use the litter box - don't clean too much i.e must have the smell of her urine/poop there. Then monitor kittens - if they look like they're going to pee/poop, take and put them in the litter box. They will usually smell their mum's pee/poop, try to cover it, then start doing their business there.
Hope this helps.

please adopt. don't buy. you can go to https://www.petfinder.my/ to find a free bsh or other breed. many stray cats out there need your help.

stray cats can be beautiful too, if they are well taken care of. to give you encouragement, this is a stray cat. when I got him, he is hungry, dirty, and kutu infested kitten. 50% rescued by others, 50% chance die from hunger or car roller, if i don't rescue him. look how beautiful is he now.

user posted image

once you got your cat, you eventually will be cat lover, and eventually you will know the harm of buying. not gonna elaborate how breeders work, but yeah, just like eating sharkfin. the killing stops when the buying stops.

More than 5 years ago, we originally planned to adopt from PetFinder and contacted the person. However, her requirements were those who adopt must not put the kitten in a cage. For us, we do not plan to let out the kitten we adopt because don't want to risk it getting attacked by other cats outside or knocked down by cars. While it won't be 24x7 in the cage, we will lock it in when nobody is home. The person who put the cat for adoption said even that is not acceptable. So, in the end we bought a 6 month old kitten for a few hundred ringgit from a couple who had to sell because their young child is allergic. No regrets because the cat we got is the sweetest ever. Never scratch or bite any of us and love belly rubs. He also uses the scratching post only and does not scratch anything else once we told him not to do so the first time he tried to do it. So, whether you adopt or buy, most important is to be a responsible pet owner.

How do you guys handle needy cats?

When small, mine is quiet. After a year, he's become a spoiled, needy cat. Keeps meowing for attention no matter morning or night. Doesn't sleep much like a cat should be, just want to play 24/7. I do spend time to play each time, but i also need to focus on work and personal sleep. Tire him out by 1-2am doesn't work as well. Each night i think i'm getting only 3-4 hours of sleep before he makes loud noises again.

I don't have a 2nd cat due to cost and living in small apartment (most JMB disallow pets).

Have you brought him to a vet recently to check on his health condition? I will do that if his loud meowings persists into the night. Male cat so gonna be much louder. If meowings don't stop, confirm the owner cannot rest.

How old? spayed? neutered?

Most ppl may not agree with me but I cage my 2 cats at night, basically they are trained from they were very small to be in the cage n sleep at night, they are already used to it, usually I will 'tuck' them to sleep everynight before I go to bed, n let them out in the morning so that they dont bother me at night. Sleep time is one thing I cant compromise coz I'm working frm 8-5pm except now that Im on my sabbatical leave sweat.gif other things like food they can have anytime wink.gif

One of the advantges of training my cats to be in the cage is when i have to go somewhere for a while, i can send them to a cage based boarding place without stressing them out too much, that is if i have no other choices huhu..

Didn't go to vet. Cos he becomes quiet and normal once i approach him to play. When i stop play and leave him for a while, bising again. So i think he's just attention-hungry.

1.5 yrs old, bola gone dy. I don't cage him since small, let him freely roam the house. All his toys (plush toy, string, box etc) are readily at the living room for him. But he die die wants me to play string with him 24/7. Dont want to play by himself.

Anyone here had success changing litter from bentonite/ clay litter to tofu?

I heard overall benefits of tofu is slightly better. Lesser dust, and cat doesn't inhale/ eat bentonite particles.

But my 8 year old has been very difficult about this lol. Even though I gradually mix (talking 20% tofu 80% old bentonite), she just refuses to use her litter bin.

She controls and goes like once a day only now. Sometimes relieving herself outside her bin even.

Should I just give up? I tried 2 brands, most recent is pottycats i think.

Hes quite big edy not really a kitten anymore huhu usually they will be less active when they grow up especially after neutering, I guess he is really spolied sweat.gif I watched 1 of Jackson Galaxy's video about training cats to let u sleep at night, he doesnt recommend locking the cat out of the bedroom or restrain them like what I do to my cats laugh.gif instead he adviced to just ignore him n eventually he will stop and learn to let u sleep something like that huhu..

My cat completely hates it.
This morning she unleashed a load under the dining table instead.

Cleared her bin and reverted to clay again. I guess she's just not meant to use tofu.

But now, the cat get smarter. Rarely 5am wake me up. I wake up, he heard movement on bed then will jump up purpurpur me. Best wake up call

Hehe. I don't agree cage too. Free roam inside house. No go outside. House is their cage. But your house, your choice, so no comment.

Feel pity leh put in cage, like 90% of time in prison only. I had 2 fcov cats isolated in a room. I also feel pity their roaming space so limited and trying find adopter who can give them bigger space to roam.

Need help.
My cat, was found in my drain laying on its back with all feet up, bleeding nose and mouth.
He's breathing heavily when I found him around 7:00pm. (now the breathing already slow down & I think he's sleeping). He can still walk a bit just now and pick up his head.
Hopefully he's not being knock by cars.

What can I do to help him tonight... tomorrow morning I will go to veterinary for checkup.
