Hi guys, can please recommend an affordable mesh wifi model? Currently looking at Tp-link M4 should be enough for my need as my Unifi plan is 100Mbps (upgradable to 300mbps),
- can replace my old router (Dlink dir-842) ? or it should work with my old router
- can only 1 unit working standalone?

Thanks in advance

Yes and you should replace the dlink, ignore TM’s instructions that plug it into router.

Yes also for the 2nd part but you would not be taking advantage of any mesh features, in which a normal router would better as it has more lan ports.

If you only want one unit then why you asking about mesh? Mesh units sacrifice a few different features to gain the meshing capability (multiple AP sharing same wifi). If you're not going to use that, definitely don't buy mesh unit, there are cheaper better options.

Hey guys ! Would just like to confirm, if Netflix is hosted locally, why would there be buffering when streaming ?

It is happening the whole day for me, not just at night.

I’m watching Dolby vision content on Apple TV

Anybody else have this problem?

I am unable to use ipv6 because my router doesn’t seem to be able to enable it properly

The TM stock router is actually not that bad, it has serving me well more than 2.5 years, but it has unstable connection just in my master room in 2nd floor, other living room in 2nd floor is good with 30mbps in 2.4ghz

Normally tp link mesh sold in a pair, so if it can working well with 1 unit then i can use the 2nd unit in my other family member's house, which has exactly same problem as my house.

So if a new router is more recommended, can pls suggest 1? Thanks

TP-LINK AX20, my router is 70ft away from the rear most room of my house with 3 walls in between. Still can get full 100mbps on 5ghz.

Yes, it works with one unit BUT it has to be connected to either your router or modem. It means you can't disconnect the Ethernet cable and move it to 2nd floor if you only have one Deco unit. For the mesh system to work, you have to buy at least 2 Deco units; one Deco unit (Main) connected via Ethernet cable to your existing router/modem and then pair the other Deco unit(s) which you can then place it at the WiFi dead spot. Bear in mind that most of the Deco units only have 2 nos Ethernet ports. So, make sure the Ethernet ports you needed are sufficient before buying.

Ask yourself if you really need 300mbps? If not, save RM30 every month.

300mbps with mesh for RM159 is a good deal. Not many got the call.

That's sound amazing, but any other cheaper alternative? My house do not have wifi6 devices tho

My house devices all rely on wifi, 2.4 and 5ghz, so the cable ports not very important here

Additional:
My neighbor wifi (green) is stronger than mine (red) WTF, that's why keep interfere my wifi i think ?

seems least interference, already not same channel, but weird why your neighbor set channel 5 sweat.gif maybe is auto, tell your neighbor set manually to channel 6 laugh.gif
channel 1, 6, 11 is the only non overlapping channel for 2.4Ghz
try use 5Ghz when possible, 5Ghz have more channel and alot less interference

It was lesser at this time, sometimes i can scan >10 wifi around

My route initially was channel 5 too (it was auto) before my neighbor install their wifi, my 2nd floor signal weaker since then..

80% of my usage is using my laptop, which can't connect to 5ghz biggrin.gif

Tenda AC23, cheap but comes with stupidly strong 5ghz coverage
Swap out the wifi card on your laptop with one that supports 5ghz...just get Intel AX200

Skip AC10, signal strength wise AC23 is in a different dimention
No problem, I replaced mine right after the technician installed my service
Yesterday my line was down, SC still willing to give me support despite I'm using an aftermarket router.
