yes, the sooner the better. the new firmware cannot reverse what's already done to failed/readonly drives.

KC3000 2TB can get as low as RM725.90 voucher applied at Lazada, although i already bought 1 during 11.11 sales @RM800 and still unused yet, but can't resisted to get another 1 for the other rig.

SP A55 is fine but seems like Silicon Power likes to change components around (such as the controller), so peformance may vary from online benchmarks and your one
PNY CS900, would avoid, it uses the Phison S11 controller, known to be unreliable and dies, supposedly fixed but I wouldn't trust it, can google SATAFIRM S11 for more info, Kingston A400 is also another one with the same controller, as well as many other budget ssd
no comment on the ADATA, seems okay

Personally I would go for Crucial MX500 but no 120gb model
But then again, seems like the T400 only supports SATA1 (1.5Gbps) speeds anyways
So no need to get such a high peformance drive

I would say get the SP or the Adata

Also do note there's quite a lot of scam fake ssds on laz/shoppe these days, mostly Kingston A400 and WD Green, sometimes some Samsung ones too but rarer.

dramless would be slower, but for your machine... probably doesnt make too much of a difference, still better to have it though

as for fake ssds, they're tough to spot, they even have the name of the real product and have real capacity too (eg you buy 1tb you get really 1tb. unlike those fake pendrives), but of course the components inside are cheap chinese knockoff
It would also not be detected by the oem software (eg, Kingston SSD Manager)
The listings just feel sketchy to me, you cant trust "100% authentic gurantee, lowest price gurantee, lots of 5 star reviews from shopee, everything can be faked, only for sure option is LazMall/Shopee Mall, so far didnt see any scams with those tier of sellers

but hey feel free to drop a link here to check before buying

Tq, once I get my new drive I need to replace my 256gb nvme.

I found YouTube tutorials to clone boot drive to new drive so I don't need to reinstall windows and program files.

cant blindly trust prefered or prefered+ too, those just mean more people chose them
but I've still seen some that are scams

anyways, consider this https://shopee.com.my/ADATA-ULTIMATE-SU650-...8521.7905409270
I have purchased from this seller before for other stuff

Generally I tend to avoid sellers from china, but now some scams have set their location and claim to be local seller
I also try to see if the seller has a presence outside of the online marketplace (eg, physical store, own website)

Bought this one solely through the recommendations here and the attractive pricing during sales.
I am pleasantly surprised after checking out some YT reviews of this model that it can perform so well vs the mucn pricier Samsung 980 Pro!

Maybe due to all the packaging Samsung added to their NVME??? /s laugh.gif

Hi. I'm new to this ssd stuff. Just bought me a new 1. Anyone could do a favor by recommending a cloning software? It's Adata SX8200 Pro, fyi.

Haven't do anything with it yet. Just arrived few hours ago.

Also, its comes with a thin piece of heatsink. Good to use it on a laptop?

Thanks in Advance.

Macrium Reflect is the best
unfortunately they are discontinuing the free version
you could use the trial
or go hunt down the old free version

Usually SSDs come with bundled software too, like WD, Crucial, Kingston and many more brands all bundle Acronis True Image
not sure if ADATA does it

heatsink, if it fits I guess you might as well put it on

Hi guys, What is alternative budget model for ssd that reliable enough for data storing?
I will using KC3000 for main desktop ssd.
I think i need another 1/2tb storage, not sure if I should get HDD or just get some 2.5 inch ssd. I have two m2 slot, but i think to keep the balance for another kc3000 in future once i downloaded more game

Just a curious question here which would help me to choose.

With the plethora of faster and faster DRAMless (HMB) Gen4 SSD, would it still make sense to go for slower Gen3 SSD with DRAM?

I mean would you still pick a Transcend MTE220 (3300R/2800W) over a Crucial P3Plus (5000R/3600W)?

I don't mind picking up the MTE220S (if only I can get it at a great price) for storage purposes. The high TBW is the one factor that I can't ignore.

I see. I intend to use either as a primary boot+windows drive for the next few years, while waiting gen4 SSD to come down in prices, which then I will swap windows to the newer drive and use the older SSD as a storage drive. Tbh, these TBW means nothing much to me, I had a MLC SSD supposedly with far higher TBW than TLC SSD but it failed on me after 3+ years of normal use.

Yeah very tempting at least 50% off the prices you get from local sellers but then if anything happen, no warranty yo sweat.gif And I would be wary of any too cheap deals from Amazon as I heard from Redditors that Amazon US is crawling with fakes and Amazon apparently don't even care, doubly if we are buying something that will not be covered by their customer protection policy. Unless ur living in SG, imho thats too risky.
