any recommendations for 1tb entry lvl m.2 nvme?

am looking at pny cs1031 from shopee / sn570 from amazon SG

initial thought is to go for cs1031 due to easier handling for warranty since its based in MY but concern is that pny isnt as reliable

try to keep budget as low as possible for fast storage

thanks in advance

Can consider also Kingston NV2, similar price, but faster R/W

im using an older ssd from them, the KC2500, it was a pretty good value drive
the KC3000 that replaced it isnt that great in terms of value

NV2, seems good on paper, TLC nand, dramless but so is the PNY CS1031
pcie gen4 support although its speeds only reach gen3

Toms put this in the Not Recommend category

If you only have Gen3 slot available, this would do fine as a storage drive but it would be wasted potential if chuck into a Gen4.

thanks guys, after some review and screening available prices, i have decided to go with SN570

57sgd SN570 on offer 67sgd 1tb sn570

plus first purchase 10sgd off for app, total dmg 190rm pre tax

didnt show any indication for the tax calculation though the shipping free, indicated 7sgd there though so not sure if its that one

Rm190 is a damn good price but you do sacrifice warranty and risk having it gone and in use in some Kastam officers PC.

SN570 still DRAMless by the way.

yeah im aware, thank you for the input,

was looking at dram-ed ssds but they are beyond what im looking for in terms of pricing,

on top of that my current ssd by the comp manufacturer lexar nm620 also dram less, i used it fine, so i guess speed isnt my priority at the moment

my minimum threshold would be sshd in terms of speed comparison

so i figured that with 16gb ram i dont expect major hiccups for it too

Nowadays midrange affordable NVME SSDs are commonly DRAMless, but the higher Gen4 speeds might better mitigate that buffer loss.

NVME SSD that's DRAM-less is fine as it can utilize HMB by using RAM

Cheapest SN570 1TB I can find from Shopee is RM297. Transcend MTE220S 1TB at RM295. Do you want Stupid Nonsense or the one with DRAM and much more TBW?

Oh, Kingston KC3000 1TB at RM383 as well.

yep therefore need to make sure my ram is more than sufficient for my system, luckily i chose my system with x1 16gb stick than x2 8gb stick, just need to buy 1 stick 16gb same ram to double it up

but based on what i read, it doesnt really take up more than 1gb (in extreme cases) for ram no?

haha i can understand your frustration with dramless drives

but paying that extra 33% or even >50% for that bump in speed and not too much more tbw (which i wont be using much anyways) is what i dont think worth for me

190rm vs 383rm

different use case scenario for me i guess

U re better off buying the KC3000. It will last u few upgrades down the road, meaning u don't have to worry about SSD few years down.
Or the MTE220s , I have this as well for back up files.

Some costs are not worth saving, yah.

And minus the local warranty. Plus, it uses your system RAM.

Now to find MTE220S 1TB is rare, I see shopee only got 2 seller now. While SN570 1TB mana mana pun ada. And Crucial P3 is HMB, Solidgm P41 is HMB, Kingston NV2 is HMB, all of these are HMB and 1TB easily to find everywhere. Face it, lower speed SSD with DRAM are getting phased out for HMB.

And 33% more expensive puts the KC3000 on another bracket of price segment in the upper midrange Gen4.

If that price MTE220S is better but at RM190 that is a good option.

Usually less than 100MB, it only cache the look up table.
