Is ADATA XPG SSD SX8200 ok? Want something that last long. Aiming for WD Black SN750 but if the Adata is ok, i'll take it since cheaper.

Depends if you can accept the performance decrease.

Bigger drive with DRAM usually have longer life span, to further reduce data written to SSD, you have to move your download folder to somewhere else,
they can be network drive or external drive.

How long does it take to check for bad blocks on a 500GB ssd?
I'm currently running badblocks command (via linux) to check because Ubuntu>Disks say it has 32 bad sectors. badblocks has been running for 4 hours now. Is this to be expected?

Regret didn't use -sv. Only use -v. Dunno the percentage of progress rclxub.gif
UPDATE: I cancel it via ^c. Seems like 5 hours for 30 percent (based on my interpretation on the block number)

FYI, currently the drive is connected via USB2.0 (in ext hdd case)

https://superuser.com/questions/240641/how-...-on-a-1tb-drive
^ Looks like it's gonna take more than a day rclxub.gif

Is my SSD dying? Reallocated sector count = 32 (20hex)

it also cannot be formatted. i try with gparted. format it to ntfs. looks like the operation success because i can copy file into it. after unplug the drive and plug back in, it's not ntfs anymore (back to raw). bangwall.gif

Maybe the port unstable power? Try use port with USB3 or at the back, that is on mobo?

I see the SSD still new, maybe see after few days, if not then need RMA

MThe Game Stack Live event will take place on April 21 and 22, where we will know more precisely the dates on which these new technologies will make their arrival on PC

But then the game itself need to support directstorage.
PCIE gen 3 also can benefit from directstorage, it would really suck if MS decide to only support for gen 4.

Hello SSD sifus, can I please get some help on deciding which SSD that would fit to my current laptop?

I currently have ARES V laptop by Illegear with this for the storage

1st M.2 Solid State Drive: 500GB M.2 PCIe NVMe Solid State Drive
2nd M.2 Solid State Drive: None
1st 2.5" SATA Drive: None

Now I'm looking through Shoppee for 1TB SSD to add to the second slot to increase my storage size.

Would any of these be ok?

1) https://shopee.com.my/Silicon-Power-NVMe-PC...7911.7443997652

2) https://shopee.com.my/Silicon-Power-NVMe-PC...7911.2095142026

Apologies if this is not the place to ask.

Thank you for the suggestion! Now in between those 2, would one of them be better than the other? Or just the same?
