Wouldn't call the other fan (with lesser blades) inferior. Both fans aren't being used to their maximum capability anyway, so at such a low capped speed - the difference is negligible. It's only at higher RPMs where the difference will become more obvious. More over, the fan is cock blocked by the silly panels too.

Just like the PS4 Pro's nidec vs delta fan, I wouldn't say either fan was superior to one over the other either.

Given that all else is equal, a fan that has more blades is more quiet than the one with less no?

why should i stop nitpicking? is it hurting your feelings when an inanimate object is being criticised? it was designed in such a way that its massive and heavy, a huge tradeoff from last gen where the consoles were much smaller, but much louder also. and almost every single reviewer out there put an emphasis on the silence of ps5, so when people find out they’re not getting the same components it’s reasonable to assume the noise performance is not going to be the same either

iit must be pretty significant that there has been multiple reports complaining of the same thing. also a lot people actually have their consoles set up on a desk with their monitors. 5db is also a significant increase, especially if you’re using it on a desk. that’s why people spend a bunch of time in bioses to tweak fan curves.

Nvdia AIB partners have this kind of moment as well with the POS caps vs mlcc . That one fixed by driver update but some users reports getting lower clock speed.

Okay lah give you guys a very simple scenario before bed:

Both you and I pay RM2299 for a disc version, and it turns out that my unit runs noticeably more quiet than yours due to difference in fan design (or/and coil whine for that matter).

Will you seriously be satisfied with that?

Scenario1: go to bed with tears becos still can't preorder a ps5.

Scenario2: say "aiseh man", and proceed to increase tv volume by 5 decibels.

Scenario3: diedie bring to sony centre ask for better fan/replacement. But get rejected becos the fan is by design and not faulty.

Thing is you feel unsatisfied becos u know some other ppl might have a better fan. Maybe the default fan is the louder one.

And they MIGHT call to confirm this to those who POed. And one not so great news is they are not sure if PS5 games will be available on the same day.

I'm very familar and expecting some issues for being an early adopter. Regardless, the fan noise is the least of my worries especially after knowing about the difference of both fans.

It's normal in the production industry to replace parts as long as it is functional and meeting the the requirement thats why there are new revision for the same thing. The complains that I have seen on reddit mostly about coil whine and disc spinning .

Don't want to come across as corporate stooge but that's what you get being an early adopter. Also be fair and judge only after receiving it stop speculating for something that is not definite . Stay positive !! Don't jump on bandwagon of something that could be a non issue or problem with something else. Wait till you got your unit then fire away ..
