Looks like the reports of dead PS5s on day 1 is increasing (not uncommon). But all the reports has one very similar trend, a sudden freeze, upon reboot a quick data base rebuild, another freeze and dead system.
No, Sony won't have stock for you to exchange. |

QUOTE(iGamer @ Nov 12 2020, 09:19 PM) Why would you do that? Dead launch day consoles aren't uncommon. Revised console doesn't mean there won't be another issue.QUOTE(tsunjeck @ Nov 12 2020, 09:31 PM) Its just software issue regarding rebuilding storage when transfer from ps4 to ps5 and then putting it on rest mode That's unlikely the real reason. |

More importantly I'm skeptical the foam they put around the APU would last years without eroding with all that heat and the humidity in some countries (oh wait, that's us!!).
Once that foam starts eroding, the liquid metal can leak out and if it touches any conductive area, it's gg PS5. |

QUOTE(shinjite @ Nov 12 2020, 10:01 PM) Good, but that's because I use nail polish and electrical tape. There's zero chance of leaking because unlike Sony, I only put 1 drop - the size of half a pearl rice grain. From all the teardowns I've seen, there's so much LM that has been applied on the PS5 which is a little mind blowing to me. The LM should NOT be sloshing around after removing the heatsink, but on the PS5 it does. |

QUOTE(shinjite @ Nov 12 2020, 10:10 PM) Yeah, I saw one teardown video and the LM is literally sloshing towards gravity when he was holding the mobo while talking to the camera. Yeah here's hoping they've gone through the right tests for nothing to happen in the future. With regular thermal paste, the only point of failure is it dries up and the worst that could happen is the PS4 shuts down. LM doesn't dry up especially with heat, there's always going to be a point of failure with it if not insulated properly and the worst that could happen is turning the system into a paperweight. This post has been edited by SSJBen: Nov 12 2020, 10:26 PM |

QUOTE(Shinka @ Nov 13 2020, 03:18 PM) Guys do PS4 arcade sticks/peripherals (not the controllers) work on the PS5? They work yes, as long as they are officially licensed.read online that they do actually work Arcade sticks that uses brook PCBs however are not licensed, so it's up to Brook to issue a firmware update (which I'm sure they will). |

QUOTE(HolyHuman2000 @ Nov 13 2020, 04:15 PM) GH didn't break the law or do anything illegal. Its fairplay , willing buyer willing seller. But its unethical practice, and optics of their rep will continue to deteriorate. These days, online businesses if too reckless can cause enough boycott to affect their sales. If that Brandon Wong guy is really GH staff...lagi teruk. Not stating PWP stipulations prior to purchase IS breaking the law. Learn some consumer rights. Only reason why they aren't in trouble is because everyone who bought from them doesn't know their rights nor do they know how consumer law works in malaysia. wkn liked this post

QUOTE(HolyHuman2000 @ Nov 13 2020, 04:25 PM) I would like to understand this better and ready to stand corrected. Consumer Laws, Act 599 Sect 12 - But when the consumer make the full combo purchase rm3k, they already know what they are getting. How is that not stating stipulation? (a) if he gives to a consumer an indication which is misleading as to the price at which any goods or services are available; or (b) if an indication given by him to a consumer as to the price at which any goods or services are available becomes misleading and he fails to take reasonable steps to prevent the consumer from relying on the indication Got it? I was already in the business of game sales during the time GH just started as a small fry in LYN in 2007. They have learned to twist the law because they know consumers don't know better. EDIT - edited for some clarity. This post has been edited by SSJBen: Nov 13 2020, 04:34 PM |

Yes exactly, but just to make it clear for everyone else I will quote you again:Thanks bro. QUOTE(HolyHuman2000 @ Nov 13 2020, 04:25 PM) I would like to understand this better and ready to stand corrected. @boldedBut when the consumer make the full combo purchase rm3k, they already know what they are getting. How is that not stating stipulation? This is exactly what Act 599, Sect 12 protects YOU as a consumer: (b) if an indication given by him to a consumer as to the price at which any goods or services are available becomes misleading and he fails to take reasonable steps to prevent the consumer from relying on the indication ^Pay special attention to the underlined sentence as the seller (Gamers Hideout) did not in any form, time or matter mention the PWP stipulations to the buyer(s) PRIOR to the opening for the PS5 pre-order. There is also another law they broke with regards to shipping. All forms of shipping must be specified and cannot in any way use the term "Special". So whatever their "special CMCO shipping" is without specification, that is indeed breaking the law. But of course, who wants to report them and bring them to court? Typical mentality is - aiyah it's just video games, don't think anybody gives 2 fucks about going through all the hassle to deal with bringing them to justice. Seems like digital edition SKUs are getting disc edition models, starting to become common.
Those who got it saved themselves quite a bit of money. |

So many speculations on this thread, most of which all based on guessing. Sorry to say, but you guys don't know what the fuck you're talking about. Be in this industry for a while and you'll understand what you see on the surface is the total opposite of what's happening underneath it. Now, for more important issues, if you guys got so much time to argue about legal matters and pre-orders, read more on the issues of the PS5 instead - https://www.resetera.com/threads/ps5-troubl...-thread.324889/ XiuKeong liked this post

QUOTE(dark_heart07 @ Nov 16 2020, 03:27 PM) Oh shit. Now this is scary as fuck for me. Hope the batch for MY next month will not facing this prob 2nd or 3rd batch of production maybe? All the US n EU current one is 1st production right? The entire global launch within this year is in the same production cycle, including Malaysia. Don't think Sony has made any revisions to the hardware yet and even if they did, you won't see those units until sometime late in 2021.Every PlayStation before had a minor hardware revision only after a year of launch. Same goes to pretty much every console ever made. Don't see why or how that's changing, considering there's a pandemic going on. The difference this time is that if your launch day console were to fail, there are no replacements for you - not immediately at least. Warranty is just a superficial statement. QUOTE(iguana_dude_619 @ Nov 16 2020, 04:29 PM) Well just hope Sony fix some software problems by the time Malaysia get PS5. it seems quite a few people having software bug/problem when using external storage on PS5. That may be firmware fixable. But certain things, like coil whine cannot. Here's an example of the dumb things Sony didn't contract whoever their PSU OEM was to do: ![]() Not even basic hot glue on the copper coils? They're basically naked and under high loads (which will be common), will vibrate so much and you'll hear that dreaded buzzing/whining. EVERY PS5 will suffer with coil whine, until they do something about it. This can't be fixed with a firmware. Then on to the noise the chokes for the APU which will also whine. |

QUOTE(jenniferjen @ Nov 16 2020, 05:23 PM) I think there are 2 things you may need to take note before going into panic mode. I'm not in panic mode, I read the problems because I like digging into flaws to expose the hardware. Indeed, the people with problems are the people who are the loudest. If you are looking into a troubleshooting thread, sure 100% of the post there are talking about PS5 failure in certain of extend. Secondly, it's a new launch, every post even in reddit will mainly talk about issues and faulty, but we will not know how many % of them face such issues, probably just minority. yes, we need to be caution at time, but there're always the risk to take when purchasing the first batch and one should understand this before they PO. As it stands, the issues are of course still a minority but I'm not talking about the number of issues, I'm looking deeper than that. Let's take an example, the people having forced database rebuilds all stem from one particular game: Call of Duty Cold War. So the question is, why? Not how many is facing the issue. Why is CODCW only causing this issue and not any other PS5 game? If you actually did read the thread and many of the reddit threads, you'll notice that the complaints are all very similar to one another - they are consistent. This goes the same for other issues as well. |
