Trying to decide between Air and Pro. I'd like to get a sense of how warm it gets.

Do you use it on your lap?
Does it get too warm? (compare regular surfing vs YouTube/Netflixing)
How big a difference between AC and non-AC room?

My Pro 15 2015 gets a bit toasty and that's after undervolting and disabling Turbo Boost. Ugh.

I just pulled the trigger and bought MBA M1 16GB 1TB SSD via education pricing few minutes ago via Apple Malaysia website.
Took the Apple care protection too.
ETA around 24 feb to 3 march.

Bought it for my wife since her MBA 2014 4GB 256GB showing its ages already.

Planning to grab her old MBA & compliment it with my ipad pro 2018 11” LTE. laugh.gif

Btw, i am also planning to buy Ugreen USB C hub with the dual USB C inputs at Shopee.

You guys got any problems using it so far?
How about the infamous Wifi interference when using the hub? Still happens?
Hub gets hot after a while?

Appreciate your feedback guys. notworthy.gif

My advice is not to use that sort of hub unless the laptop is constantly sitting on a desk. The hub itself takes 2 USB C ports and I would recommend the hubs that use just a single USB C port. I have 3 different hubs and I find the one which just uses a single USB C port the most useful. Initially I gotten the same with the dual USB C inputs, then when I purchased a new monitor which had a USB C connection, I found that with that hub, there is only 1 power delivery USB C and I can't connect the monitor to it.

My wife will be constantly using it on a small study desk.
Having a 1 usb c hub means she will have to deal with the long usb cable dangling out which is not quite practical as the desk is just small enough to put her MBA on.

Slanted due to attaching many devices via the hub overtime ya?

Why? The charge won’t even get thru or will just charge at much slower rate than normal?

There are some postings on reddit... saying any PD items that charges ur macbok will cause ur macbook to brick, this also includes LG's USB C PD Monitors...

i'll get a USB C hub, but the USB C port shall only be limited to peripheral stuffs... charging will still be using original charger + independent USB-C port

Slanted due to thick cables like RJ45 or HDMI connected to the hub. The cables' thick/heavy head causes the usb hub's 2 male ports to bear full weight of it. But other peripherals like usb etc are mostly ok and wouldn't cause any problem.

Like this i might as well get the official apple USB C AV multi adapter just to be on the safe side.
Or charging thru the official adapter will have similar problem? sweat.gif

Any good non-PD USB C hub you can recommend?

How about this one? You recommend this?
RM158 via shopee vs RM349 official Apple multi AV adapter USBC laugh.gif

DLink USB C hub without PD

I’ve read thru several reddits on USBC hubs bricked out MBA & MBP M1 when users powers their machine thru the hub.

I'm using UGreen hub, even charging through the PD. No problem so far.
The only thing is the hub will become very very hot.. at times it feels like burning your skin when comes in contact. So yea, i read above some one recommend dont charge with hub PD, and kinda agreed.
It do no harm, but its very hot.

RM158 for that is okay..

But for me, I'll prefer to get a hub that still has a USB C port, but just remember to not use the PD function

Yes.
I think any USB C hub sure will get hot.
Even my 256gb USB C pendrive I cucuk directly with MBA get very hot.
I have used cheap RM180+ no brand 10 in 1 USB C hub with PD bought at shopee. I charge the MBA, connect monitor, keyboard, mouse, and USB pendrive no problem.
But it is very hot.
After read it may brick the macbook I dont dare again charge thru PD.

I do the same with my Satechi USB-C hub as well! PD with it but after reading all of the issues faced, I became a little paranoid using PD on it sweat.gif sweat.gif sweat.gif
