when i bought my macbook pro back in 2014 it was like RM4099, and a few months later it was revised to more than RM5k. very lucky.

I just pulled the trigger and bought MBA M1 16GB 1TB SSD via education pricing few minutes ago via Apple Malaysia website.
Took the Apple care protection too.
ETA around 24 feb to 3 march.

Bought it for my wife since her MBA 2014 4GB 256GB showing its ages already.

Planning to grab her old MBA & compliment it with my ipad pro 2018 11” LTE. 

Btw, i am also planning to buy Ugreen USB C hub with the dual USB C inputs at Shopee.

You guys got any problems using it so far?
How about the infamous Wifi interference when using the hub? Still happens?
Hub gets hot after a while?

Why? The charge won’t even get thru or will just charge at much slower rate than normal?

Like this i might as well get the official apple USB C AV multi adapter just to be on the safe side.
Or charging thru the official adapter will have similar problem?

I’ve read thru several reddits on USBC hubs bricked out MBA & MBP M1 when users powers their machine thru the hub.

It got to me fast maybe becoz i taruh Tim Apple an email which prompted a next-day call from Apple SG to find out what was going on... Apparently I found a bug on Apple's Online Store which prevented me from updating my payment method...

my macbook air just got bricked yesterday,

connect to my usb-c hub with hdmi cable on it, leave it to sleep and charge, next morning dead

the laptop wont turn on and there is a ticking like noise when i press the power button

looks like the issue is related to usb-c port with PD (power delivery),

so pls get a proper usb-c hub and certified apple thunderbolt devices.

Other than that i love everything about it, doing work, compile some huge code works so much faster than my own desktop

Same same. Don't want to take any risk. But maybe can still use the USB-C ports for peripherals? 

Planning to order mine by using Maybank cc..later on can I change it to EPP?

When it comes to USB-C hubs, don't stinge on them. Get a reputable one especially with the recent cases where power delivery through 3rd party hubs are bricking the M1 Macs.

My order changed to shipped today, eta 9/3. Gonna ship from china.
So that's about 3 weeks from date of order.

Whats the alt browser you guys use besides safari and chrome?
Tried to use chrome but its really consuming too much resources and generating a lot heat also..I tested using chrome to watch some live Twitch streaming on full screen and the cpu reached 100c, while safari only recorded at around 50+ degree on the same video streaming settings.
Safari is no doubt a good browser, but just wanted to know if there is something better outside.

Hey guys.. i’ve been not keeping up with mac or other brand laptops for many years, my 15” macbook pro has serve me very long.. but its due time for a major upgrade.. i’ve been looking for verious brands, initially thought that i might find something better elsewhere... but then again i started to read about praises on the M1 apple chip.. so, please advise me on few questions below. But first, i’m going to spec to highest end laptop possible, with budget cap up to RM15k.

1. Is the M1 macbook a big deal? Is there any other powerful laptop brand to compete this within my budget?
2. Between M1 and i9 macbook pro (top spec) which one to go?
3. I realize macbook air now having similar spec to macbook pro.. how to even choose between them? If macbook air is as powerful as the pro, then the air is a better choice because its lighter and more portable?

Any advise will be appreciated and thanks in advance

Ordered Gold MB Air 256GB on 9th June and it was shipped out on 11th June. Until now no movement from where it was picked up. China also MCO ka? lol!
