Based on the reviews, the 8gb ram machine performed better than the 16gb intel version in photo editing software.

So it's safe to say that the new 8gb ram is the new 16gb while 16gb is the new 32gb...  icon_idea.gif  innocent.gif

About the 256gb storage, should not enough.  tongue.gif

if the apps run same as ipad/ios, basically 8GB ram on MacOS is ipad Pro Pro standard (ipad pro is having 4/6GB)

Ipad Pro 12.9 + 256GB = RM 4,849.00

Curious MacBook Air 256gb with 8gb ram is enough to use? Maybe for normal use and light weight coding

Should be no problem. But my opinion is to upgrade to 16gb for long run usage.๐Ÿ˜†

Problem with the supply to Malaysia is because of COVID19 and output from factories.

I am looking forward to get the RM5k one.

Time to save up more to get it.

Hehe...

I was thinking of getting the M4.

But on second thought.... I am getting this.

Still...

My mind can change till the day I go to shop to buy.

I think 8GB is good enough to use for the next 5 years....just my thoughts...

I do have concerns on 8GB RAM especially come to open/working on huge Excel file. Considering the machine instructions are different now with ARM, i think RAM will make less sensitive compare to the X86 framework OS.

Thanks guys, appreciated your comments.
I plan to use 1 or 2 year, because MBP entry model seems not worth for me. Plan waiting next gen high end MBP to become my main heavy workstation.

Actually nothing to worry about. Your iPad Pro is fanless and they work great.

The good problem with Macs is they last damn long. My 2014 Air is still going good. No excuses to get a new one yet!

Hey we have the same model smile.gif , I bought mine in Dec 2014 and coming to 6 years now. Tempted to change but I still need bootcamp for some Windows based software.

I always calculate the "lifetime cost of ownership" - I paid RM 3955 for my Macbook Air back then and this translates to RM 1.80 per day over 6 years. Pretty damn good value for money for that.

PS: I have to admit I do sometimes miss playing PC games though blush.gif

Wow all the benchmark and reviews look pretty great.
This might be my first Macbook I will purchase, almost pulled the trigger on early 2020 Macbook air last time, lucky I held off because of thermal issue people reported.

Any idea when will this be available in MY? It's usually like a week after SIRIM approval, wonder if it has been approved..don't know how to check..

iPad and iPhones have been fanless long time already, I think should be no issue.

Also recently got a Celeron fanless, really digging it, its much nicer to use the device without fan.
