Hey we have the same model , I bought mine in Dec 2014 and coming to 6 years now. Tempted to change but I still need bootcamp for some Windows based software.

I always calculate the "lifetime cost of ownership" - I paid RM 3955 for my Macbook Air back then and this translates to RM 1.80 per day over 6 years. Pretty damn good value for money for that.

PS: I have to admit I do sometimes miss playing PC games though

Yes I'm loving the Big Sur visuals too, glad that it still supports older models.

About the fan, honestly it's running most of the time and yes it's certainly noticeable / loud. But I have this issue on both MacOS and Bootcamp.

Actually now that I think about it, the fan noise has been prominent and continuous ever since I had the OneDrive app on both my MacOS and Bootcamp sides (i.e. all my files are always on continuous sync to cloud).
Stopping the continuous sync on OneDrive almost always slows down the fan noise (unless I have tons of tabs open on Chrome).

If you have any continuous sync apps to cloud, perhaps you can try pausing them to see if there's a change to your fan noise.
