Early reviewers are not paid by Apple, but they are all handpicked by Apple to loan them the devices before general release. So generally the reviews tend to be on the positive side. It doesn't mean that they are biased, just they will highlight the good stuff more.
On the other hand, you have websites like Forbes which is well known to talk crap about Apple while displaying obtrusive ads all over the place. Just check out their so-called 'reviews' on any Apple product. They all go along the lines of "Don't get me wrong, the [Apple product] is by all means excellent, but it is actually terrible."
If you are interested in the MacBook Air, you can check out MacRumors forums. You can get honest feedback from real users there. In my opinion, the M1 is without a doubt, a first gen product. Apple may have been planning it for years but real world testing has just begun. Don't expect it to be flawless. However, I believe most of the incompatibility issues will be solved within a year. It is up to you whether to wait and see or be an early adopter.
Hmm, what you mentioned about early reviewer is basically showing they are biased though.
The Forbes highlighted several incompatibility issues that objectively can’t be disputed. Unless it’s an isolated case for that reviewer.
I guess I will wait out instead of buying this in December.

Done reading the so-called "review" by Forbes. Don't you think the review is not logic at all?
Which part? Some are specific to user preferences (external display etc), but incompatibility with the programs he mentioned look legit.
