Direct comparison doesn't work, many fail to understand the cost of producing 100,000 cars vs the cost of producing 1,000 cars would totally be different. China market is way larger than malaysia.

finally someone that actually understand how economic of scale works lol.gif was having a hard time discussing this with /ktards few days ago that i just gave up.

It's not solely about production costs either, I'm sure. Factors like market positioning and the pricing of the competitors too bah. Companies WILL seek to maximise profits, and aren't charities.
If people are happy paying 45k for MYVIs, why rock the market by pricing the Binyue similarly, when it can easily be marketed as a step up? I think Proton's pricing strategy is sound, seeing that people are literally waiting half a year for their X50.

Got another alternative to x50 if you don't want

Yaris facelift. From 71k to 90k i think

Yeah quite a well spec Car I would say with 360/collision warning and most importantly Android Auto & Apple Car Play ready

Downside gonna be
-Low engine output for its engine standard
-Boring interior
-Smaller car compared to X50
-No rear A/C vent

Yes,that the trade off if you need, much more reliable transmission, reliable engine, and maybe more fun handling? Due to it being a hatchback. And also lower maintenance cost

If you notice carefully, both air filter and cabin filter alternately change every 20k which I think is reasonable. My Myvi also has similar interval.

but myvi is every 30k

X50 news is still fresh. Soon nobody will talk about it except those who owns it.

If compared side by side the pricing, you actually get full spec of Yaris at the price of Exec X50 which Yaris have the 360/Android Auto (Mayb better camera)
collision warning and stuffs. But still many would argue the CVT and Engine is not attractive and its a different segment car.

But in term of getting more value for the runs of the 85k, Yaris seems like a good alternative to X50 Exec variant.

So in the end of the day, to get the most from X50, go for Flagship, you will be totally incomparable to any cars available at the moment.

Very short review:

On sports mode, I did not even floor the pedal, only halfway, but the car jerked forward and accelerated quickly. The engine is really responsive and can feel the power.

The steering wheel felt light on normal mode but I couldn't remember how it was on sports mode, apparently it should be heavier.

I love how the panoramic sunroof let in so much light into the cabin. Makes the car feel more airy.

The seats were great, I like how there is sufficient support to the lower and middle back.

Build quality is okay - plasticky air con vents and door handles but I'm not going to nitpick on this.

Did not manage to try the other features like ICC/ACC/parking assist nor the 10.25" infotainment screen.

Current price with SST exemption is 79xxx, so my guest with SST it will be around 83k. From discussion with my SA, the flagship will add around 5k. He calculated based from the tax exemption on x70.

Nope. You pay price according to your car registration date. If got car 1st Jan 2021, register same day, still need to pay SST. Doesn't matter you settled all loan etc in 2020.

Let see 2021 budget. Hopefully gov extend the tax exemption.

Went to test drive flagship today but the traffic was so jammed so couldn't really test much.

engine is quiet when accelerating and when in sport mode, the engine seems slightly "too" responsive for me. I think comfort mode will suit me more.

The 360 camera is really bad in quality but as long as it gets the job done I'm fine with it. Speakers quality not as bad as I expected since many complained about it, but the middle does sound a bit hollow.

This is hot selling car, need to wait more than 9 months to get the car
Don't expect SA will give single cent discount at all
With 2 weeks , booking already reach 30-40k already..

Some buyers even pay extra money rm10-15k to SA for get the car soonest...

I think 10-15k a bit too much la, few hundred or thousand maybe la. The SST difference should be around 4-5k only so I dont think anyone in the right mind would pay more than that sweat.gif
