Considering our country's economy now many companies will have very tight budget now.

Bercham, Ipoh Gardens, Pasir Putih/Pinji, Simpang Pulai all not sure if they'll have 3rd phase of expansion returning back to Ipoh after Allo completes its expansion to Batu Gajah.

They're now also going after Penang, Kedah, and Johor after this.Need to allocate significant budget over those places.

Well @culain99 in our early discussion at this forum, some of us have given our point-of-view on why Allo doesn't cover the whole ipoh city. From the observation, Allo only rollout it service to area unserve by T× U××f× and some believe Allo don't want to overlap with it.

But when T× heard about Allo plan, T× have been aggressively this year by laying new cable and setting up FDC around ipoh city (noticeably at Pasir Pinji, Pengkalan, Menglembu area).

But don't lose hope, maybe in the future Allo might cover other area that is already covered by T×. An agent once told me this earlier "Rome wasn't built in one day".

Bangsar South/Kerinchi in KL also have Allo infra. Their fibre also now kena cut. laugh.gif

https://forum.lowyat.net/topic/5049114

But their setup is a different there. Viewqwest leases the passive optical fibres themselves and runs their own active equipment such as OLT/ONT fibre modems for last mile instead of City Broadband.

Correct me if I'm wrong, City Broadband was last time known as Setia Haruman which was a sub company of the Setia developer who founder later sold its company to the gomen and started another company known as EcoWorld. Later the company financial turned red and it was forced to be sold to TNB and some foreign investors. The company splitted and renamed to become Allo as what it is today under TNB group but also Viewqwest started to established their presence in Malaysia.

I might be wrong anyone know a more correct version of its history?

Batu Gajah Perdana already have Unifi since 2017 including TMN Puspa Pusing.
Meanwhile at Taman Pusing Baru recently saw TM contractor laying fiber cable & white FDP box.

Also notice that Taman Mewah Indah at BG have stack of TNB poles yet to to be install but few months back TM did install fiber cable at that Taman. 🤔
The only thing i'm not sure for what purpose did TM pull the cable coz there is only one fiber cable on their pole from the main DB..😅

I heard that City broadband was formally known as cyberjaya broadband and according to my friend he heard that cyberjaya broadband is not that reliable(on their own infra at least) confused.gif ?

This my own understanding. The package is called Astro & Broadband.

Those area under Unifi have 5 package - 30Mpbs(RM98.95), 100Mbps(RM148.95), 300Mbps(RM168.95), 500Mbps(RM238.95) and 800Mbps(RM318.95).

While those area under Allo have 2 package - 50Mbps(RM99) and 100Mbps(RM129).

For better understanding, it's best for you to ask Astro agent.

But currently, Maxis is doing promo with Astro. Upgrade 100Mbps to 300Mbps @ RM129 + RM61.32(Starter Pack).

It was known as Setia Haruman before it was acquired by TNB. Was not doing well earlier because they only service mostly Setia group's projects and company internet connections.

Need to take note and be aware that Astro & Broadband contract has a steep RM1500 early termination fee if you decide to switch provider or move to somewhere else where there's no Allo coverage within the 24 months tie in.

The special offer for Allo is different from TM HSBB coverage. You get 50Mbps symmetrical speed on top of your Astro IPTV which does not use satellite dish.

The higher early termination policy is due to the Astro bundled PVR decoder box which costs a lot more.

Allo Technology(City Broadband) AS45410 relies almost entirely on just 1 ISP to fulfill its bandwidth transit needs making them almost like a reseller to NTT Asia as its wholesaler.

Almost 90% of its bandwidth routes through NTT Asia. So if NTT Asia is problematic, this is almost unavoidable that Allo City Broadband will be affected as well.

It's still a small ISP unlike Maxis, Digi or TM where they have a mixed redundant backup routes to play with when one of their transit carrier ISP goes down/experience technical issues.

I am quite confuse here , i seldom read about news around on broadband, normal people like me consider all new to it sad.gif
90% of all the Image hosted by you are https://www.imageupload.net/ gone , even on other thread, i suggest you upload to this forum attachment.

My question , Actually how many ISP is actually available in Malaysia ?
TIME , MAXIS , TNB , Astro ? Astro ISP ? or just a renting ?
Who is partner ? Allo with CIty Broadband as partner , TIME , Maxis and Astro partner ?

As for this thread , Allo Technology Sdn. Bhd is own by TNB which going to be an ISP with own cable and to expend in Ipoh ?
Compare to Maxis and Time (TIME base on KL only) all are using Tx network fibre renting about RM70 per port ?

Also there are some I don't understand , Allo renting Tx Line or they construct their own line digging the road ? Taking example as Maxis vs Allo different ? compare to maxis which you can switch from Uxxfx to maxis after contract over ?

Saw some of your post mention If uxxfx already cover the area/garden FDC Cabinet v1 but only specific road was not cover , Allo Fibre will not interfere / prioritize ? So Allo will not cover the road and leave it to Tx ? Problem sometimes an area is cover by Tx but some road more than 7 years still no fibre , how would you consider it as ?

Also , it is possible to have Allo and Tx Uxxfx together in an area or road ?

Any Allo sales lead who wants to answer his questions?

My images at the first post were all still intact last check. I WILL NOT take the chance to upload them on Pictr.com which is the image hosting partner of this forum for SECURITY and PRIVACY reasons. As you've noticed why most of my images on imageupload.net got removed. They didn't like me using TOR Browser to upload them anonymously and I must say many of the image hosting sites out there are indirectly related to intel agencies and authorities who does profiling with registered accounts. The image hosting provider for this forum pictr.com requires registration that is one of the main reasons why I choose not to use it but instead hot linked my images from external image hosting providers that accept TOR uploads.

You know those captchas which you need to solved are not child puzzles just to verify you as humans. They've other purposes such as to record your image canvassing data, your ping times to identify which region you're from and many other things. It isn't that simple.

Pertaining to your question, no Allo Technology S/B the data ISP division of TNB does not rent from others, it BUILDS its own last mile fibre network.

TM, TIME and TNB Allo all builds and operates their own individual last mile fibre networks but they allow layer 2/3 arrangements by other ISPs to route through them with their own accounts. From the OLT switches at the exchange until the fibre modem at the customer's premise is individually owned by them(Allo, TM or TIME) while they allow partnering ISPs to route their connections back to their data centres making use of their last mile infras.

About the overlapping of infra with existing TM coverage, it depends on the telco's budget and interests to provide competition in that particular area or not. If they feel that the area/housing garden is worth attacking or putting up the challenge to the already existing telco they they might have a go.

But I don't think Allo's original plan was to put up a direct fight with TM and steal all their customers away. They wanted to cover areas which were neglected by TM and comfortably have those areas to themselves such as the wide Blue Ocean strategy but unfortunately TM "JUMPED" and got grilled by political parties for their bad handling approach and thus they didn't want to lose out those areas to other players since they already served them copper for so many years.

You see, the strategy for deploying passive optics is to bring a certain "quantity" to an area to break even and achieve profitability. No point if you'd just pull a few strands of fibre to an area and service a few homes. Your maintenance alone will exceed your revenues unless the users a prepared to pay premium prices or dedicated P2P lines. A street cabinet can serve up to about 2000 ports per garden/area. If your area is already served by TM Unifi, do you think it might be a risk for a smaller ISP such as Allo to bet their stakes in those areas just to cover a few roads ignored by TM.

Also there's lots of considerations you need to put in mind, not only occupying ports, logical/virtual stuffs such as IP pool sizes, are most people on TM already tied with long contracts, bandwidth capacity, etc..
