I see. Currently on public IP using IPOE. Will I be forced to switch to PPPOE on my router with this new ONU or can still use IPOE?

Also how's the performance of this new Nokia ONU?

Using this with PPPOE atm
Not sure about the switch TBH, but the installer told me for all the new subscribers (in Johor at least) will be on PPPoE
Peformance wise, I can get around 930Mbps max with this ONU
Runs a bit hot as well, and really lightweight

After using the service for almost a month, I'm confident enough to write a review now.
I've used Maxis, Time, and Unifi so far
Switching to Allo due to the endless congestions and routing issues with Unifi everynight
Still in contract with Unifi untill November 2026, hence at the moment I'm having 2 fibre lines active in my house
Allo is my main fibre while Unifi is the backup line, connected to UCG ultra with Asus AX88U as the AP

I registered online during promotion on 7/10/25
The plan is 1Gbps (1000/500), 6 months free, RM139 for 24 months with 2 free mesh routers
The original installation date was 17/10/25

1st intallation attempt
The technician contacted me on Whatsapp a day before installation
However, when he arrived he was not able to go ahead with the installation due to "high fibre reading" for all 4 of the DPs behind my house. CS said in an email it will be repaired in approximately 5 working days. It was Dwali during weekend so I expected it will take around a week.

On 24/10, I sent a follow up email as no updates were given
Allo said they have no ETA on when the repair will be done

On 29/10, I saw someone working on the DP in the afternoon
He left after an hour, CS did not send a follow up email so I have no idea the issue was fixed or not

2nd installation attempt
On 30/10, the technician sent me a message early in the morning for the installation
He pulled the fibre through back of the house, celling and out of the wall using existing electric conduits, no fibre wallbox was giver and the fibre is sharing the same FWB as Unifi (I installed it)
For the fibre, he spliced and fused a slimmer cable to it, put a plastic protective case on it before terminating it with a APC connector (Green)
He was not able to continue with the installation as he didnt bring the correct equipments (missing the pair of mesh routers)
The installation will continue the next day

3rd installation attempt
31/10 morning, he arrived with a pair of TP-Link EX220, with a Nokia G-010G-T ONU
Despite multiple attempts, he couldnt get the promised 1000/500 of 3 different sets of router
The best speed we were able to get on LAN was around 500/100

He said should be a router issue and he will give me better router instead, but the whole installation was postponed again
I did asked him to leave the ONU so I can try to troubleshoot with my own gear, but his superior said he must bring everything back

2/11
Allo finally sent me a installation notice via email, before this it was all done by the technician

4th installation attempt
4/11 morning, I asked the technician for the OLT credentials so I can setup using my own Huawei ONU
He didnt give me any, but he showed up without the equipments again just to tell me he didnt bring anything
Also, he said the reason for not giving me the credentials is because it will cause him issues when the service is activated without him signing off
Another postponed installation

5th visit by the same technician
5/11 morning he showed up, this time with the same Nokia ONU but with a pair of Dlink DIR X3060Z (custom Allo version)
These are AX3000 instead of the AX1800 given previously
We were able to get the full 1000/500 this time, he said it was a configuration error from the server side last time, not the hardware
The fibre reading was around 20dbm
He refused to give me the OLT credentials, again
After signing off, I paid RM100 for the whole installation

Setup
user posted image
I was given PPPOE instead of IPOE, without a VLAN
By default IPV6 was enabled and works fine
After he left, I ditched the given router and switched back to my Ubiquiti gear
2 days later I contacted customer service for public IP subscription
They changed the PPPOE credentials to ".premium" instead of the usual ".res", with a different password

Experience on the network
I'm not a gamer hence not a reliable sources for game ping results

However, from what I have noticed
No more congestions in the night, especially for CF related websites
Even CF speed test consistently showing ping below 8ms
user posted image

Routing to China is ok, around the same as Unifi/Maxis and way better than TIME
Ping to CF and Google is 50% lower than Unifi, to Microsoft is 50% higher than Unifi according to Ubnt's network monitor
Tried to use Controld DNS with Allo, ended up getting servers in LAX (190ms) so I switched back to Next DNS and Adguard, both are fine (20~30ms)
At the same time, Ubnt network monitor reported ping spikes on Unifi for a few occasions, not once on Allo

I did noticed slow downs on Youtube for a few times, during the night and only for a few minutes (for 2 weeks), all is well now
I tried uploading big files to One drive and Google drive, the max speed I was getting from a single file was only around 80Mbps
Only when uploading multiple (12 files, 1Gb+ each) I will be able to see the upload speed going beyond 700Mbps
Yes, somehow I was give 1000/1000 symmetric plan after subscribed to public IP...
Torrent is fine on both public and private IP

Been using it for 3 weeks now, fibre service has been up 24/7 apart from a few times when I was itching to tinker with the setup causing it to disconnect lol

Overall I'm happy with the network, the installation not so much
2.7TB used until today, and my Unifi failover never kicked in
I just hope I will never have to deal with another visit by the technician again
