I got the Nokia modem and two DLink mesh. But the coverage is very poor. I put second mesh in my room also speed is only 10% of the speed outside. Any tips on how to optimize? I already tweaked the bandwidth and channels ...

This was the one they used last time, Nokia GPON
Not many info online
I did asked him is it possible to setup my spare huawei HG8240H, he said not compatible

Nokia is not like Cisco or Juniper with open access to documentation.

You can plug in your Huawei ONU and get the fiber reading. Post here if you don't know how to read it.

I don't know how Allo works. Maybe authenticate serial number, maybe PLOAM password.

You can ask him for the password, setup yourself and try. Given how noob they are, I think that guy just don't know how to setup and tell your it's not compatible.

I will give it a try later
I think it would work consider someone said they need only PLOAM pwd

The fiber is terrible.
Theoretically PON will stop working when it reach -28dBm.
You are only 3dB away from it.
Considering it's a new build, I will not accept this.

He spliced and fused the fibre, might be the culprit?
I will ask him to check again

Did you see him use a fusion splicer? If not then it's not fusion spliced and the chance of this joint causing the problem is high.

If he did, then could be this joint, or it could be other joint outside the house. It could even be a bad repair.

Mine was 18+ dBm when first installed ~13 years ago.
I checked just now and it's 22.75 dBm.
They do degrade just sitting around. If you don't get them to fix then it will be out of your pocket in the near future.

He did used a fusion splicer
The only thing I know so far is, last time he was not able to install is because of "high fibre reading" which Allo sent a team to tinker with the DP later
After that he came to do the installation

Well then let's see if they are willing to fix it for you or just consider this to be "within spec".
But I say push them to do it.

All he need to do is get fiber reading upatream and the segment that gives the biggest drop is the problem.

So he first test at the DP, then maybe another box/DP upstream of your DP. Rinse and repeat.
If an adjacent DP has great reading them maybe ask him to swap you over. That's if he is lazy to do the diagnostic.

Whoever use your current DP later will be the unlucky one.

Maybe ask if they know where is the OLT located

I suspect you're way too far from the OLT

Recently upgraded 1Gbps they did test my existing fiber cable which is 4 years old with reading of 16dB which they say is still within acceptable level.

Here is my better Speedtest after turning off QoS from my asus ax6000

I'm expecting the issue to be around after he swapped all the equipments
And I bet you they will ask me to accept whatever speed that thing is able to spit out instead of checking the infra
If they refused to fix it, this case is going to MCMC

I think it is in another side of the bandar, at least 400m away (straight line distance)

-16dBm is very very good actually

Since the number is negative, lower is better

-27dBm is alarm threshold at most OLT already

But if it ain't broke don't bother laugh.gif

Try not to unplug your fiber connector too often, usually -30dBm then it will be blinking LOS already

Maybe take this opportunity to just cancel the whole thing altogether.
This kind of fiber reading will give problem down the road.
The installation already so many problem.
Just call the whole thing off and try 5G broadband instead.
