It is seriously nice. Mounted them in my board without soldering, nice thing about sandwich-mount cases.

The sound! Hnnnngggh inducing thocks!

True to Gazzew's word, the switch is smooth stock, you don't need to lube it. Although I will still experiment with lubing some before soldering them in. I don't think the modder in me will forgive myself if I solder it in stock. Lol.

Update with pic. Getting closer to finishing my endgame.

layout i would die for.

minus the split. never experienced it, n never really type in a long session.
so dunno how i will like it or break it.

nice board tho !

Looking for keyboard recommendation, budged i guess should be below RM400... Trying to hunt for Tecware Phanthom Elite with Gateron switch but seems like quite rare in Malaysia now so would like to see if there's any other alternatives. Currently using Aula F2058 with blue switches that's having some double click on certain key after 1.5years of use, thinking of Brown switches which is a bit quieter to use for work at late night, and would like to have the numpad as now working from home... RGB is not a must. icon_question.gif

P.S: Was looking at Logitech G413 previously but seems like there's a lot of complain on the switches and cap so will refrain from that...

The Tecware Phantom 2020 non-elite with Outemu Brown is still available. Outemu Brown is nearly identical to Kailh Brown and Gateron Brown.

Tecware is also selling Phantom L low profile which is cheaper (below RM180), and the low profile brown switches are not bad for mainstream.

Was aiming for that but then i read some mentioning the Outemu switch is a bit inferior in quality and need a lot of switch change in period of 6 months while Gateron/Kailh switch is better while does priced higher...
Now checking out Keychron C2 with hotswap Gateron, price below 300 so still fits my bill plus option to swap to Kailh switch in future... maybe? hmm.gif

Gazzew's switches are "enthusiast-grade" switches made by Outemu and are compatible with the Outemu hotswap sockets of the non-elite Tecwares.

Can check out the range at www.gazzew.com

For silent tactile, check out the Boba U4 (not the U4T I posted last page).

Uhh really not sure what you want now.

Hm, nice info. Will look into this.

EDIT: Impressive switch (sounds really quiet with lubed on Youtube video) but the price are a bit high for full keyboard upgrade so maybe will stay away from this racun at the moment tongue.gif

Haha, i did mentioned budget under RM400 so was looking around for anything below RM400 sweat.gif

My criteria was:
1. Full size with numpad
2. Prefer brown for tactile while keeping noise down
3. Prefer backlight but not like RGB is must
4. Wired as will use at home for work and gaming
5. Have hot-swappable for for future service/maintenance/upgrade, i guess hmm.gif

here's a list of frankenswitches, source: https://www.reddit.com/r/switchmodders/

usually, we do this with our spares. also, note that these are just based on personal preferences, and most are just swapping parts then call it a day. tbh if you know the characteristics of the base switches, you can make them with cheaper alternatives.

got the 3-pin g-yellow smd pro. imo, it's just like normal gateron yellow smd, with relatively less stem wobbles, and pre-lubed at factory.

this time i just did a minimal switch tuning (spring lubed with krytox gpl 107; mdi switch filmed), to see how long the factory lube will last, starting today biggrin.gif

edit: just found out my qmk code for cx60 didn't have codes for capslock led; fixed.

Looking for recommendation with these spec. Any recommendation?

1. Form factor: TKL (non-exposed switch)
2. Switch: Linear switch
3. Connection: 2.4ghz wireless
4. Hotswap: Optional if switch is good enough
5. Budget: Below RM500

Was considering Everglide SK87 or RK987 but the Bluetooth connection might not be as reliable as 2.4ghz cry.gif

qmk buat hal again. it's the times that happens twice a year, a.k.a. breaking changes, i.e. if you chose to upgrade, it will break your qmk installation.

for those who run qmk in msys2, 0.12.52 will break stuff. to revert to 0.12.51, run the following command in msys2: 'git reset --hard  8ba537f' (without quotes) alternatively, just use qmk msys aio installer, https://github.com/qmk/qmk_distro_msys/releases/ (tested and confirmed working for 0.12.52)

qmk 0.12.52 breaks stuff in linux too. however it's much easier to resolve this: just delete all the previously configured python modules in ~/.local/lib/pythonx.x/site-packages/, rerun 'util/qmk_install.sh', 'python3 -m pip install --user qmk', then run 'qmk setup' to check the qmk environment. copy the missing udev rules to the correct directory if necessary (instructions will be given during 'qmk setup')

the proper output with 'qmk setup' will be similar to the following, if it gets fixed:
CODE

$ qmk setup
Ψ Found qmk_firmware at /home/user/qmk/qmk_firmware.
Ψ QMK Doctor is checking your environment.
Ψ QMK home: /home/user/qmk/qmk_firmware
Ψ Detected Linux.
Ψ All dependencies are installed.
Ψ Found arm-none-eabi-gcc version 6.3.1
Ψ Found avr-gcc version 5.4.0
Ψ Found avrdude version 6.3
Ψ Found dfu-util version 0.9
Ψ Found dfu-programmer version 0.6.1
Ψ Submodules are up to date.
Ψ QMK is ready to go

2 new python modules are now required to run qmk: hid and pyusb (along with their os-specific dependencies). 'util/qmk_install.sh' will take care of everything.

Hi Horns,

I see the latest release is 1.4.1, released 9 days ago (3 days before your post). Do you mean to say you recommend we use 1.4.0?

I need to setup QMK on a new machine, hence the question. I no longer have access to the old machine so I had no idea what version I was using. Probably 1.3.2 or older.

qmk msys aio installer works fine. 1.4.1 is the latest version number.

the upgrade issue happened to my existing environment based on msys2 setup from https://www.msys2.org/

good news: i fixed my existing msys2 environment to work with the new qmk cli already.

the clue was from my linux environment, i.e. removing old packages from python's site-packages directories in that environment manually. in this case:

1. add export QMK_HOME='/f/path.to.my/qmk_firmware' in my .bashrc;
2. replaced qmk.exe and copied qmk-script.py (from my qmk msys2 aio installation) into mingw64's bin directory in my msys2 environment;
3. deleted qmk_cli and qmk-x.x.x-dist-info from msys2, then rerun 'python3 -m pip install qmk'

somehow, these old qmk packages (qmk_cli, qmk-x.x.x-dist-info) cannot be replaced, and needed manual removals.

CODE

$ qmk setup
INFO Found qmk_firmware at F:/path.to.my/qmk_firmware.
INFO QMK Doctor is checking your environment.
INFO QMK home: F:/path.to.my/qmk_firmware
INFO Detected Windows 10 (10.0.19041).
INFO All dependencies are installed.
INFO Found arm-none-eabi-gcc version 10.1.0
INFO Found avr-gcc version 8.4.0
INFO Found avrdude version 6.3
INFO Found dfu-util version 0.10
INFO Found dfu-programmer version 0.7.2
INFO Submodules are up to date.
INFO QMK is ready to go

now everything works again hehe

sorry i'm not familiar with products from these brands. i heard of rk and ganss, but not 北影 (maybe it's a new brand)

k87 seems to be the better one among the three, but it's also better to double check if it comes with gateron ink like you said, because from what i can see in the options, they are normal gateron, not ink.

thanks for pointing that out, someone also pointed out that the Gateron Inks retail for much expensive than the K87 doh.gif . Picture in the page shows Gateron Inks, but when I double checked with the seller, its actually using Gateron KS-9 switches. What else should I double check for regarding the custom PCB?

right, it's too good to be true. if it's ks-9 (gateron smd, i guess it's 3-pin), then it's correct based on the options offered.

other than that, i guess there is nothing else to check; maybe the working URL to download the functional software for board configurations.

the shop that sells cx60 pcb now starts to offer a kit called star60, https://item.taobao.com/item.htm?id=645957293029

- keyboard construction: top-mount; from description, you can add o-rings below screw head to have dampening effects;
- case: cnc-machined, anodized aluminum top and bottom pieces;
- plate: cf, brass; layout: 2u-shift 64-key (gk64 style); support for pcb-mount stabs;
- case angle: 6 degree

as of now, the options are as follows:
package 1: case only + cf plate;
package 2: case only + brass plate;
package 3: case + cx60 pcb + cf plate;
package 4: case + cx60 pcb + brass plate.

you should be able to use other 60% pcbs that support 64-key layout (e.g., yd60mq, dz60). the current cx60 pcb has smaller silver solder pads (thinner walls, smaller holes); heat conductivity is lower than those on yd60mq and dz60 (both have larger gold solder pads). it's better to use 63/37 solder wires with higher flux % (2% or more) for better flow with cx60 pcb.

kbd75v3 is plain by today's standards, https://item.taobao.com/item.htm?id=646548107113 (currently out of stock; maybe they will be available at their international site later)

however, for the price, you get:
- a top-mount 75%;
- plate and case foams (they are poron);
- cherry screw-in stabilizers;
- a hefty build (2kg+)

the stock case screws are now torx. the pcb is black in color (after refresh, new kbd75 rev2 pcb will be black, not white anymore), with qmk firmware of kbd75 rev2, via-enabled by default. the case looks similar to v2, but has minor changes compared to v2. the case angle is 7-degree.

i will put lightly modded sp-star white into mine; stabs changed to everglide's crystal v2; fully foamed. i prefer fully foamed builds; slightly muted but typing sound is clean and singular, and typing feel are solid.

edit: .. and oh by default there is no fn key in the stock layout. just download via and assign it accordingly, https://caniusevia.com/
