5G Catalyst will not be Smartphone ownership.

Smartphone drives 4G

IoT drives 5G
So, please ignore 5G for now. By the time change next phone, 5G is not even fully deployed in Malaysia yet.

Yup, couldn't agree more! It's just that if you want to get a phone with a SD865 processor now, Qualcomm is forcing you to pay for the 5G hype. I wouldn't consider trying this F2 Pro if it wasn't priced below RM2k laugh.gif

Yes, only if we can opt out the stupid 5G lol.

But F2 Pro adoption and the hype is not that, I am still waiting ROG3 announcement

Don't think that will be cheap given historical prices of ROG phones. It's a pity Asus didn't bring the Zenfone 6 into Malaysia, would love to try the rotating camera hmm.gif

Each Telco can only deploy based on the BAND Licensed to them or they leased from other company that are being licensed by the Gov.

Digi and Celcom 4G are being licensed from someone.

I don't think 5G should be a consideration right now for getting a phone in Malaysia coz I think we're at least 3 years or more away from seeing 5G implemented on a wide and meaningful way in our country. There was also an article of some sort about the Galaxy S20 Ultra not supporting some 5G band in Malaysia too and that's a RM5000 phone. If you're buying the Poco F2 Pro and planning to use it for at least the next 5 years or so then I do believe that your concerns are valid, and hopefully someone here from the Telco industry or subject matter expert can help clarify this for you smile.gif
Yes, but most reviews of the cameras are just average at best, with the exception of the macro camera. Seems that one is pretty good smile.gif

Thanks for the feedback guys.

Indeed, the 5G chip bundled increased the phone costs and the 5G usage in Malaysia wont be that fast as the Telcos need to go thru the similar infra upgrade like how they implement 4G.

Qualcomm always about monopoly, even though all those EURO body try to stop that. They saw opportunity, coz most other SOC manufacturer not yet reaching 5G milestone as Qualcomm.

Yes, they are starting to show their true colors now. Imagine the license fee being paid to them for every mobile phone sold in market.

Plus you have the trade war with Trump that now seeks to prevent Huawei from developing newer Kirin SOC and Samsung receiving so much flak for their Exynos, that emboldened them even more laugh.gif

Sad. Few years back, seeing huawei and samsung rising tying to go in SOC market, with okay performance. Mediatek sort of just not here not there.

Now 2020, with reason you mentioned above, only Apple can fight Qualcomm, but they focus own brand product only. Android, we're at mercy of Qualcomm now sad.gif

American companies are always about monopoly. Be it Microsoft, Qualcomm or Google. However when others are monopolying like Huawei with its 5G, you can see how they behaved.

Chinese phone manufacturers is flocking to Mediatek (Dimensity 820) and HiSilicon (Kirin 820) for their mid range SoC. They are way faster compared to Snapdragon 765G. Lets see how they gave Qualcomm a run for their money.

I think I can say my experience differs from yours. Most of the taiwanese pc hardware that I bought has great after sales support, whereas those american brands has really poor support taking months for simple RMA. Yeah, they do replaced it in the end but not after being sent in for months. Apple sent back the same iPad with backlight bleeding after weeks. Mushkin merely gave a RM140 credit for a failed SSD after months.

Only positive with a western company would be Western Digital.

My Sony Mobile can't replace me a new unit but 100% refund after two week, same go with Samsung.
Asus Padphone battery pregnant after 8 month, no warranty.
Huawei Mate 20 green light (minor), no replace and consider not faulty at their site, went Huawei FB group, post there and my account BAN.
Lenova send for warranty claim due to charging issue, 2 month to detect problem, 3 month for part arrived but refuse for claim cause my phone warranty expired at 4 month.
