I keep on reseating the hsf n apply as5 even change to my latest casing plus try my air flow by many way still no different, only last resort might lapp the hsf plus the proc, or only way change to wc. Again i dont understand when my proc. reach 72c i can still touch the heatsink becos its only warm not hot, dont know why, my only ideal might be the sensor giving me problem. My vid is only 1.275
*
if your heatsink is not hot, there maybe heat transfer problem, coz when your proc temp is that hot your heatsink should be scorching. but yea, can be temp sensor prob also.

That's a nice overclock. However, you should stress with "Small FFTs" in prime95......

hi Sifus,

I planning to get a Q6600. Is the G0 version out at the market ?

Pls recommend a mobo wif the budget around RM400. Which allow me to perform some basic OC.

Thanks in advance for the answer.... really noob in OC...

For OC'ing Quadies....the range of mobo's that can stably OC'em to something respectable like 3.6Ghz are normally based on the P35 chipsets and above, there are quite a few choices around.....of course you can try to use older chipsets but will normally need more time tweaking and mucking around in the BIOS.

Just change my FSB to from 266mhz to 333mhz for my Q6600. Don't even dare to push it further since I'm using air cooling with Asus Silent Knight II and Arctic Cooling MX2 TIM. This is the result after 10 mins of Prime95 using SmallFFT.

Thanks for your suggestion but I usually have my PC on for 24/7. Don't wanna shorten the life of my comp even further. hehe

3.6Ghz with 65C on air is nice.

The temp is nice for its not ment for long term use also...as I was using a high CFM delta fan....boy way it noisey...for long term use at 3.6Ghz its better to use water cooling....much much quieter and also cooler...

Whats the VID of your proc?

Agree.Even bryanyeo87 ex gem Q6600,need only 1.375vcore for 3.6ghz but still temp hit 71 C(Thortling point) on air(Xigmatek 1283 lapped and NMB 180cfm screamber tongue.gif ) and need liquid cool to tame it down(Apogee GT,Nirox P2800 pump,Homemade tupperware reservoir,1/2" ID generic tubing,TT Fan and Gigabyte 1x120mm rad) sweat.gif Even so,the temp is still hitting 63 C

Emm. Auto is not recommended when OCing. Also 10 mins of prime95 won't show you stability. Yeah, overclocking is easy. But getting it stable is a challenge tongue.gif

Try OC it higher at least 3.40GHz smile.gif

i wonder how come you guys can set the vcore so low and yet prime stable.

i just changed my Q6600 G0 stock hsf with hyper212 and changed all my 3d aurora fans to the 90cfm fans (2 exhaust, 1 intake).

I tried several settings to achieve 3.0GHz
bios vcore 1.325v 9x333
vcore 1.325v 8x375
these 2 setting, i can prime stable around an hour plus only... then my pc hung.
load temp shown in core temp is 63C

i bumped up my vcore to 1.343v 9x333
this time, i can prime stable for slightly more than 3 hours. then pc hung again...
load temp in core temp is 65C

btw, i primed using the second option where it says generates maximum heat, most power consumption...

the only 2 things i changed were the multiplier and vcore settings in bios. others left as auto. is there some other voltage i need to change to get it stable? what is this vtt in my bios?

maybe i will try 1.400v and test again tonight. but any other suggestion from u guys?

Some are gems procs which require less vcore....

My Q6600 is normal quad which needed a bios setting vcore of 1.35v to get to around 3.0Ghz.....

See my sig... I need 1.4v to get to 3.2Ghz..... doh.gif (my vdroop also quite large actually)
