This guy overclock Q6600 heavily on P5N32-E SLI. Any idea?

it can be done, but it requires hard modding (and voids warranty too) smile.gif

i've previously reached 333x9 with 1.30vcore. nb votage is stock, but need to bump the vtt voltage to 1.55v. blush.gif

The problem with the P5N32-E SLI when it comes to OC'ing quadies is not a software or BIOS related issue, its tied to their hardware design and thats why some other 680i mobo manufacturer such as XFX came up with a new revision to address the GTL issues. But for asus.......thats why I'm never going to be getting another asus mobo again....lol

For 65nm procs (including the Q6600), recommended not to go over 1.5v..... keep temp below 60-65'c....

Of course, the lower the better..... me at 1.400v 24/7 already sweating... laugh.gif

Stock vcore in BIOS? What's your vcore at load?

Anyone here using Q6700 stable oc @ 3.6GHz (360x10)? Just thinking of possibility on P5N32-E.

get artic cooling latest extremely heat sink, claim to cool up to 160W, should be sufficient for a quad core.

OCZ, dun need to worry too much about the vcore, anything below 1.45 should be quite safe

btw not many q6700 can reach 3.6 too.

I will let my proc run below 60-65'c just to be safe. smile.gif
I am using 1.296v 24/7.
I will check the load vcore later. notworthy.gif

Yes it does. However, your rig might not as stable as with an OC with disabled EIST/C1E.....

Another problem with EIST/C1E turned on, especially with high vcore, is that the vcore might transiently overshoot the safe limit when you go from load to idle.... that's one of the reason of having vdroop (you can read more about vdroop in my C2D/C2Q overclocking guide..... or you can google more about it) smile.gif

For mild-moderate OC, with lower vcore, there shouldn't be a problem with enabled EIST/C1E.....

Maybe need wc. No point getting only 3.2GHz(24/7) as dual core 45nm can easily doing 3.8GHz.

Thanks for the info. Just as i thought. It worked on my overclocked q6600 on p5n32-e sli.
But my problem is the vcore keep constant at 1.325V.
I aready
-vcore is set auto
-power management is set to "power saver" in windows vista
-EIST is set to enabled
-C1E is set to enabled
-TM1 & TM2 is set to auto

Did i missed something? Your suggestions would be appreciated.

Additional info
- my PC is prime95,memtest86 & OCCT stable at 2.4GHz@1.15V, 3.0GHz@1.325V
- EIST in action -- FSB 333MHz X 9 = 3.0GHz , FSB 333MHz X 6 = 2.0GHz

You mean the vcore is the same even when running at 2.0Ghz (333 x 6)? It shouldn't be.....

The Q6600 generates huge amounts of heat...when compared to my E2160 with both running at 3Ghz and the Vcore of the E2160 at least 0.15V higher, them temps are still at least 10C higher....

hi all sifu, what is the suitable hsf to tame q6600, just for a mild oc to 3.2ghz. is HDT-SD964 ok? i know most might recommend s1283, cm 212 & etc but my prob is they are too tall to fit into my poor mid-tower, and kind of out of my budget too... thks~

I think you would need a better HSF although I don't know which better HSF will fit your casing....

I guess it would also depend on your proc too..... can't confirm it but maybe a lower VID q6600 will run cooler at 3.2Ghz (due to the lower vcore required to run at 3.2Ghz)....

My Q6600 G0 is running at 3.2Ghz at 1.400v BIOS (see my sig), cooled by xigmatek S1283...... temperature at load is 64-65'c using prime95 and 61-62'c when folding.... And that's with a naked rig.... rclxub.gif
