get p35 if u lazy tweak mobo

just up vcore can OC edi without having to adjust too much

p45 can let u OC at relatively lower vcore but then u will have to adjust alot of things like gtl ref, vnb, vfsb to ensure u are stable at that clock....

ur q6600 is normally walled at around 450fsb....

just my 2 cents liao

450 X 9 = 4.05GHz d =D
@Uzary kinda depnds on what your stock core is at lor. For my super l33t 1.325 last timei tried took 1.6 to reach 400. But i'm guessing for those with better 6600's it would take a lot less.

no no no

different batch has different VID.
as fir the VID drop to 1.1625, it will happen if u enable 1 of the power saving features in bios.
C1E or ESIT, either 1.

i hav seen q6600 wit VID as log as ~1.23

actually not much different.
just dat my default voltage is lower.
it doesn't mean lower VID can OC higher.

anyway, for idle, i undervolt my q6600 to 1.024
still manage to OC to 270*9

Cant Get Pass 3.4Ghz on P5Q Pro

Processor = q6600 G0 Stepping with corsair h50 cooling

Current 3.4Ghz setting

MHZ: 378
Multiplier: x9
vCore: 1.450
vNB: [Auto]
vSB: [Auto]
vRam: 1.95

Temperature
Idle: 27 C" Max Load Temprature: 58 C"

Prime 95 Torture Test Stable 48 Hrs

Im using Kingston hyper 6400 4-4-4-12 2gb Modules X 2

I am having trouble running the rams at 400 FSB 1:1 Ratio.. im sure it can reach that speed 3.6 ghz with 400fsb 1:1, im just not sure how to set the motherboard settings.. so i leave most of the options on auto.

Any gurus know wat settings to put into ai tweaker in asus p5q pro for a 400mhz 1:1 overclock?

what's your budget ?

QUOTE(Dickong @ Aug 26 2009, 05:40 PM)
I have the same problem with you when i was using 6600GO, it will never go above 3.2g, anything above 3.2g not stable, i think the mobo problem, my mobo is p35 ds3 rev 2.0
*
I used that mobo before and still i managed to do 3.8ghz rock stable. So the mobo is not the problem

i still stuck with Q6600. Think to move to Q9550 before moving completely new platform with I7.

Honestly speaking, Q6600 is a great CPU for OC.
