say liao, changing to a higher wattage psu doesnt necessarily means you will get to oc ur proc any higher smile.gif... its jz dat ure ensuring that your rig gets all the power it needs to run properly smile.gif my advise is try to increase the voltage, and since ure targeting 3.6ghz, u jz need 400x9 to do it, which i believe your motherboard can easily cope with it with very little vnb increase... nowadays i see many ppl getting bad chip for q6600, needing 1.5v+ to get 3.6ghz biggrin.gif
*
ok. i'd tried to set to 400x9 with 1.5v but still failed to load into windows, not even bios. i'll have to turn off and on my rig to get into bios again. i left dram voltage to auto and little bit vnb increase, but still failed. why? now i'm running at 3.5ghz at 1.475v and others back to auto. really bad chip!! sad.gif

its not recommended lor since urs now 3.5ghz oso nid 1.475V .
1.55V is still considered acceptable .
but u nid to make sure ur casing got good ventilation and everything so d proc heat wont affect other hardwares as well .
ur using 4890 which also generate lots of heat .
dat might b d problem of ur hanging PC .
hmm , anyway changing to 850W might not solve ur problem .
even i7 OCed to 4ghz + GTX285 SLI wif overvolt mod only use around 680W .
urs might juz nid around 450W++ only .

Added on May 14, 2009, 9:07 pmanyone can give comment on my OC setting ?

im currently trying to run 3.75ghz at 415x9 1:1 830mhz DDR2 4-4-4-12 2.2v

vCore 1.5
PLL 1.6
vNB 1.49
vTT 1.39
vDIMM 2.2

i got reading 46C idle 55C load >.<"
to me i think still considered low temp ^^,
any comment guys ?

today, my cpu running at 3.6ghz @1.5v......haven't try prime95. will try to lower the vcore later. i think my CM690's ventilation and airflow should be ok lor. i have 1pc CM 90cfm 120mm long life fans at front for sucking air and another 1pc at side panel doing the same job as well, another CM 120mm fan at the bottom sucking air and back panel blowing out hot air. i oso put 2pcs 8cm fans on top to blow out hot air as well. and i oso added an extra CM 90cfm 120mm long life fan to my hyper 212 lor. will add another 90cfm at the front panel for sucking air in when changing PSU this weekend. hehehe....

no no no

different batch has different VID.
as fir the VID drop to 1.1625, it will happen if u enable 1 of the power saving features in bios.
C1E or ESIT, either 1.

i hav seen q6600 wit VID as log as ~1.23

Added on September 13, 2009, 4:44 am
actually not much different.
just dat my default voltage is lower.
it doesn't mean lower VID can OC higher.

anyway, for idle, i undervolt my q6600 to 1.024
still manage to OC to 270*9
*
i admire ur default voltage. tempting!!!!
