Just back from my Japan 7 days trip. Went to Seven ATM to withdraw via Wise card, got charged 220 yen for a 90k yen withdrawal.

Japan changed a lot. Now they start embracing digital payments.

End up use only 2k yen, rest is via PayPay Touch N Go and Apple Suica card. laugh.gif
The 2k yen also because some ramen shop in Asahikawa Ramen Alley didn't accept any of it and only cash. Turns out also my worst food in Japan. Very touristy area. Should skip XHS recommendations next time.

Also most eSIM sold in Trip.com rubbish. Can't even exceed 5Mbps.
Only the Japan eSIM Softbank in trip.com line works best. Can go 300Mbps+  brows.gif

Old traditional restraurant still very stubborn. Cash only. If you used Google Map to search restraurant, mostly will be cashless but if you used tabelog to search 4star above restraurant, mostly still cash only. biggrin.gif

I see. Hope Japan can be really cashless one day similar to China. I hate carrying their coins.

Also nowadays can't eat and drink at convenience store anymore (although purchased from them)?

Yes. They removed the sitting space for more shelf. You can eat outside at parking lot. Rubbis Bin also at outside.

Dear sifu sifu sekalian,

I would like to ask about Hokuriku Arch Pass.
My plan is to begin with Tokyo to Toyama for 2 days.
And end with Tokyo
Then i need to fill in the rest of the 5 days. Any ideas?
or is it possible to do day trip from Tokyo using only Hokuriku Arch Pass? so no accommodation.

or any cheaper way to travel to Toyama lol.

If Day Trip to Toyama no need any Rail Pass. Just buy Express Bus ticket. 30000 Yen buy pass just for Toyama are crazy.
Hokuriku Arch Pass for In from Kansai / Tokyo > Toyama > Kanazawa > Fukui > Kansai / Tokyo Out

I'm based in Penang and is planning for Hokkaido trip next Dec

Is it better for me to explore flights from KL instead of searching from Penang?

I don’t think there are any ex-PEN flights to either CTS or TYO.

You’ll probably have to transit at BKK, KUL or SIN.
