Any recommendation for transit option? M
Thai Airways seems to have super long layover
*
If you got budget, SQ has direct SIN-CTS flights during ski season.

AA has direct KUL-CTS flights too, but not daily service.

Otherwise, you can fly in to TYO or KIX and do a domestic flight to CTS.

from penang youre kinda out of luck since theres not much major airlines will stop by, but if you go back to same route of KLIA, you can take ANA's Blue Day sales that comes quite frequently.

they have free domestic flights to select from if you fly in internationally to KIX, HND or NRT. so if there is good time to fly to CTS its worth to check out

depends on what you want to see

if winter + spring season (Nov-May) you get to see really white snowfall kind of sceneries plus lots of winter sports and winter lights

if summer+autumn (Jun-Oct), temps are around 20-30C in the day, you get to visit alot of the fruit farms, flower gardens which blooms

if follow based on how i prefer my usual Japan trips its usually spring or autumn season to visit for cool weather, but not too cold. hokks can get super cold during winter like -15/20C kind so alot of people not really prepared, plus winter gear will be an extra expense to many

Airasia departure from CTS airport is 9:40 am, so need to be there by 6:40 am. Earlist train is 6 am, arriving at 6:28. What other alternatives available? What do most people do, stay overnight at the airport? Book a hotel nearby on the final night? Thank you

First Airport Bus Leaving Sapporo Station at 5:15Am but need 70 minute travel time...So...you reach Airport also 6.20am - 6.30am
No diffrence from earlist train (5:50am) from Sapporo Station and reach Airport also around 6.30am
Unless you stay at Chitose City and take Taxi to Airport but early morning got extra 15% surcharge....

Thanks for the replies. Still unsure whether to go in March where it is still winter or postpone. If go in March will likely confine to just Sapporo, Otaru and Jozankei. Prefer to go in July where can include Furano and Biei for the flower and farms but flight and accommodation is even more expensive. Maybe I am just too late to plan for this year.

Most hotels in Chitose offer free bus shuttle to Chitose airport. They usually start ferrying hotel guests to the airport as early as 6am

Go Autumn, the scenery is even more spectacular during autumn. Can go to various places in Hokkaido to see the foliage.

Looks like we will postpone Hokkaido to next year or so. Thinking about Japan in 3rd week of June. Internet says it is rainy and low season. I wonder how heavy is the rainy season over there.

Any recommendation for fruit picking and/or factory tour In Tokyo or at nearby cities like Kamakura, Kawaguchi, Mt Takao?

Many thanks

3rd week of June is peak season. Start of Summer. Furano & Biei will be packed like hell. Based on my memory & experience, Hokkaido in June not much of rain.

Nearby Tokyo can fruit picking will be [Karuizawa Garden Farm]. Starwberry Farm at Karuizawa.

Wife want to visit farm and eat fruits. All is covered in snow in March while to late (read: too expensive laugh.gif) to plan for this year's Furano Biei.

So to appease, aim for Tokyo instead while browsing for cheap flight tickets biggrin.gif
