Maybe this has something to do with the installation of win xp when turning off some features in BIOS...

from the screen shot, we can see that there is something about read error. I will suggest insert the the driver cd then boot from it to run custom test on optical drive, simple and easy to verify whether is hardware/software fault.

Well, at the time I tried to insert DVD and check the content, the laptop couldn't read it. Same with another DVD.
Damn, that's one faulty drive indeed... Gonna get my docs and handle it to the service.

Aren't they suppose to come to your place for service? Where are you supposed to bring your laptop to service?

if you only tried in windows, I suggest you try first to boot from driver CD if you haven't do that yet. izzit too early you make the conclusion? sometimes the hardware is working but just when boot to windows then only not function, else then will be hardware fault

hey guys, i use cpu-z to check my hardware & i found out that my ram is on 333Mhz instead of 667Mhz that dell offered me. So, is this dell fault or my cpu-z error? how i can b sure of that?

u chose T7300, just wonder do u do a lot of "heavy duty" tasks like pic/video editing? if not i will just get the lower-end proc for cost saving sake. what about gc? integrated or dedicated? again, it very much depends on your purpose. go for dedicated if u play games a lot.

as for software, what in my mind now are notebook hardware control, spybot, ad-aware.

too bad they dont offer better soundcard .. and i doubt that laptop nowadays has nice speakers, where as what im using now is provided by JBL Pro.

My 1520 operation :

Previously I've stated in page 15 that my LCD is facing bleeding problem, the coating of media button paint is peeled off, DVD drive noisy as well as Hard Disk having clicking sound all the time.

So, DELL ppl have came with all replacement parts for 1520 and ask me want to change what ?? Huh, it seems that they can almost change the whole laptop part without further checking of my problem. They ask, "which part got problem, we'll replace it at once!" Wah, then I complained the problem above and they replaced them immediately. They've replaced the whole palmrest, Hard Disk Drive(SEAGATE to HITACHI) and DVD Drive(NEC to LG). After they changed those parts, they started to take out the LCD which is bleeding. When they want to replace another one, they found that the replacement LCD is already cracked So they said they will replace another 1 the day after that. They left me with a LCD cable before left.

Since then, I've heard nothing from them anymore. It's not until 2 weeks later then they only call me because they had left the cable on my hands (I didn't complain further cause the current LCD is still working perfectly at that time). They said that they have to come again to get back the cable, if not their salary will be suspended! It is very obvious that they have forgotten to replace my LCD, they wouldn't be coming if ot because of the cable. Only then they have come and replace my bleeding AUO LCD with another bleeding AUO LCD (AUO= AU Optronics). I think it is a common issue with those truelife LCD, I'm ok with it anyway.

For the Hard Disk, it still produce clicking sound every 1 to 2 minutes in quiet environment. Changed liao but still persists.

Until now the laptop works perfectly without any problem. The overall DELL service is ok lar, I've never tried before so this is the first time experience with DELL service.

Any 1520 user here use notebook cooler? what are your laptop temperature when idle and play games (mine is around 55 when idle and 68-73 when playing games) ?

Does this notebook need a cooler at all because it is way cooler compared with other model especially ACER.
I've tried VIGO NINJA before but the temperture is the same.
Anyone can tell your experience?

Try google for Notebook Hardware Controller program and go to the Hard disk tab. set the advance power management to Max Performance (254)
it seems is duno wat power cut.. forget the term... it has silenced mine... pretty good program... can tweak around with the notebook hardware (with appropriate knowledge la...)

The problem is the program cant find the Microsoft Framework after I've installed the NHC program as well as the Microsoft Framework. So the Program cant run at all!! That's why i'm still wondering how to solve this issue...
