I called Dell asking about downgrading to XP, they said there are some drivers which are not there yet. It will take around 2 months time before they make this available
How do we know when there is a new or updated driver version from Dell?
Added on August 10, 2007, 2:05 pmJust installed XP, and the Driver CD can't seem to find most of the driver like Bluetooth, Video, Sound etc
Anyone managed to get all these installed?

QUOTE(ahaha @ Aug 10 2007, 06:32 PM) dzi921 did you call the Dell support b4 downgrading?? I am wondering if the Vostro XP drivers can be used instead since the hardwares used are the same.... Btw mine the compile the driver which you downloaded?? Best if you can give in detail how you did it and what drivers did you download since in the Dell support website there are many drivers/softwares and not all are actually needed I think such as diagnostic tools and such.... I've called Dell and Microsoft Dell said they are working on the XP drivers Microsoft said I can legally downgrade to XP Pro cause I have Vista Business. Just take any XP Pro CD and install it. So I took a Dell XP Pro CD and installed it. It didn't prompt for product key The drivers are not from the 1520 Dell Driver page, but for other models. I've tested all the list mentioned above and it is working fine. Will provide the links later on If you are desperate, just google the driver based on the number (e.g R153997)

QUOTE(David83 @ Aug 10 2007, 08:06 PM) Wow ... this is so great. Only applicable to Vista Business? Vista Home Basic and Premium are not able to do so I assumed? You cannot downgrade if you have Home Basic It's only for Business For Premium, I'm not sure, but my guess since Premium is > Business, it should be possible

QUOTE(David83 @ Aug 10 2007, 10:01 PM) My Premium is referring to Home Premium. Not Vista Ultimate. Maybe you mistakenly thought Vista Ultimate as Vista Premium. Is there a version called Vista Premium? Vista Ultimate is greater than Vista Business. Sorry, my fault. I think I meant Ultimate > Business

QUOTE(Darkmage12 @ Aug 11 2007, 10:44 AM) does this laptop have bluetooth built-in? Mine has it built-in but not working with XP cause no driver. Vista is fine Funny, I just went to Dell website and seems like the current 1520 doesn't have bluetooth option QUOTE(weirdguy @ Aug 11 2007, 11:22 AM) I found out that Dell Complete Cover Plan had changed name to DellCare. Also, price is more expensive than the previous plan. I think it had happened right after PC Fair promotion ends. Can someone verify this? If it is true, that's mean I need to bring down some specs to fit my budget. Hai... Yes, I think they just changed it this week cause last week is still the same

QUOTE(leizmende @ Aug 12 2007, 10:53 PM) i had install window xp for my 1520. i able to install all the driver provided here except bluetooth. i keep asking me to activate bluetooth using Fn+F2 or radio On/Off switch. It noting happen when i press Fn+F2. Anyone can help me 1) Is your laptop with Bluetooth inbuilt? 2) Have you enable the Bluetooth. Check the switch on your left. And the LED light on your right (next to Home button) If you have both corrent, What I did was go to Device Manager, add the driver manually by select the .INF folder Then only do the installation. Can you try? Added on August 12, 2007, 11:23 pmYou have to extract the R161378.EXE file. I use Winrar to do it Then point the directory to <drive>\BTW5_1\Win32\drivers This post has been edited by dzi921: Aug 12 2007, 11:23 PM
