Open a blank notepad , maximize it.If you see the white isn't white more like grey and dots which means you have a grainy screen.
It's more simple if you have an LCD monitor to compare.

It comes only with GDDR2. That's a typo or misleading clause.

Quality is definitely better than Intel GMA X1300.

what do u mean by grainy lcd screen? i using my 1520 to watch movies it is a bit blur..is this grainy?...but playing games and viewing pictures all fine
*
Grainy screen is the whole screen covering with little black specs. Just imagine as if you kept your laptop for a long time and there's a layer of dust on your screen.

hello brother, we are talking about the new inspiron here, what a layer of dust? come on...it's not that serious...the grainy thing is internally not externally...its a layer of white paper which u can c some texture embedded behind...

Hi,

My gf is an owner of a Pink Dell Inspiron 1520. I found out that the screen (TrueLife) is not as good as what I have seen in other lappies. The viewing angle is too small to me and the max. resolution available is only 1280 x 800 sad.gif

Besides that, the biggest turn-off is the weight cry.gif Luckily my gf buys it for indoor use and seldom bring it out (except going back hometown). The lappy bag is another turn-off. She didn't managed to get backpack but the backpack is not any better biggrin.gif

Ya, I have to admit that its price is too juicy laugh.gif

But after a visit to PC Fair, many other brands are having price slash as well. Anyway, this lappy is really very affordable for its specs.

Does anyone have problem with the screen? The viewing angle is rather a bit too little to me... wait, I have just found out that this only happen to movie but not so obvious for other application like web surfing (The lappy is beside my desktop laugh.gif )

I'm sure there're ultra-weight performance based laptop. Somehow, those desktop replacement models tend to be heavier. biggrin.gif
