bro i think the better solution is use nlite to add sata driver into the xp installation file and create a new XP install CD...
coz ATA not as good as the original defaul setting....
i think better we do 1 time correct then no more worry after this...
coz install with ATA setting will occur many problem...
(correct me if i'm wrong)

Thanks for the tip. I'll give it a try later

Have to format and reinstall again sweat.gif sweat.gif sweat.gif
Or is there any way to do it without formatting again?

Usually laptops have switches built in them to detect if the lid is open or closed...in order to conserve power. Even the power option in the control panel doesn't help...because it cannot detect if the lid is closed or open.

Apparently this new inspiron models doesn't have them built in.

All i can do is set timer to a lower limit and let it turn off the screen after a minute or so. What a pain.

Are you sure? My 1520, I've set it to hibernate when lid is closed and it does exactly that when close the lid. I think you did not enable "Hibernate" or "Standby" option in the Power Settings.

For those who are having problems with CnC3, I found something from the official website that might cause the problems.

Disk Drive: 8x or faster DVD drive for retail SKUs, not required for digitally downloaded version

Hard Drive: 6.0 GB or more of free space

Video: GeForce4, ATI Radeon 8500 or greater (ATI Radeon 9200 and 9250 PCI, NVIDIA Geforce 4 MX cards not supported.). Windows Vista - NVIDIA GeForce 6100 or ATI Radeon 9500 or greater. Laptop versions of these chipsets may work but are not supported.

Sound: DirectX 9.0c compatible sound card

Yeah, that's exactly happen to my 1520 with Windows XP, it either shows
i) Do nothing
ii) Standby
when you close the lid of the laptop.

This is quite frustrating cuz the monitor is still left on even though i just want to listen to music from the laptop. Can anyone solve this??? vmad.gif

It can be standby but I cant listen to music anymore!! What's more, when I reopen the lid after standby, the LCD become like this>>>!!!!

And I have to push the power button for a long time to force it to shut down....really frustrating.

One more, is my LCD suffering from severe bleeding??? Anyone help .... icon_question.gif

tslim2531, your LCD problem looks serious. Send those pictures to Dell Tech Support and ask them if it's normal.
