Backpack is easier to carry around (and also the weight is distributed over 2 shoulders). Another thing, if you carry a sling bag with the word "DELL" on the side you'll be more prone to snatch thefts and car break-ins. tongue.gif

Reason is i am not working. I am still a student. Carring a slingbag around is troublesome. With the backpack, i can chuck all my stuff together with the lappy in the bag and carry it around.

I have no idea on this carrying case and backpack issue. When I ordered my 1520, it did include and I just pay RM 17 to change from a Dell Nylon Carrying Case to a Dell Nylon Backpack.

How is the backpack? Is it a Targus or Dell? Even it's another brand, ppl nowadays knows laptop backpack brands and they would still snatch it. Better to get other brands....less obvious.

Yeap, but its more obvious if u go to work carrying a significant backpack then seeing crowds of people carrying slingbags which could be a laptop or not. dude the backpack is quite big man, and it'll look hilarious to carry such a backpack to presentations. Not to mention it makes ur back sweat sweat sweat alot. Its just not too practical to use it for work or collage/uni, its like a big sign board on u saying u got some valubles beneath this big bag smile.gif

LOL...yeah. U practically stands out from the crowd. A well dressed person with a backpack....an obvious roadwarrior.
Since I travel alot...that's why I got a inconspicuous backpack and reinforced it with foam and sponge for laptop protection....and comfort.

I called Dell asking about downgrading to XP, they said there are some drivers which are not there yet. It will take around 2 months time before they make this available

How do we know when there is a new or updated driver version from Dell?

Added on August 10, 2007, 2:05 pmJust installed XP, and the Driver CD can't seem to find most of the driver like Bluetooth, Video, Sound etc

Anyone managed to get all these installed?

dzi921 did you call the Dell support b4 downgrading?? I am wondering if the Vostro XP drivers can be used instead since the hardwares used are the same....
Btw mine the compile the driver which you downloaded?? Best if you can give in detail how you did it and what drivers did you download since in the Dell support website there are many drivers/softwares and not all are actually needed I think such as diagnostic tools and such....

I've called Dell and Microsoft

Dell said they are working on the XP drivers

Microsoft said I can legally downgrade to XP Pro cause I have Vista Business. Just take any XP Pro CD and install it. So I took a Dell XP Pro CD and installed it. It didn't prompt for product key

The drivers are not from the 1520 Dell Driver page, but for other models. I've tested all the list mentioned above and it is working fine. Will provide the links later on

If you are desperate, just google the driver based on the number (e.g R153997)

Wow ... this is so great. Only applicable to Vista Business? Vista Home Basic and Premium are not able to do so I assumed?

You cannot downgrade if you have Home Basic

It's only for Business

For Premium, I'm not sure, but my guess since Premium is > Business, it should be possible
