Hei guyz... anyone did a proper and stable installation of XP on the 1520 yet?? Just the XP alone not dual boot... Vostro with XP should be out tomorrow if not mistaken. Wonder if the drivers are usuable on the 1520??

dzi921 did you call the Dell support b4 downgrading?? I am wondering if the Vostro XP drivers can be used instead since the hardwares used are the same....
Btw mine the compile the driver which you downloaded?? Best if you can give in detail how you did it and what drivers did you download since in the Dell support website there are many drivers/softwares and not all are actually needed I think such as diagnostic tools and such.... |

To dzi921 and those who know,
Before you install XP, you must first configure a setting in BIOS else XP CD will not detect your hardisk In BIOS: Onboard Devices -> Flash Cache Module -> Set Off Onboard Devices -> SATA Operation -> Set ATA Would like to know why this must be done? What are the drawbacks of doing so? For my desktop I need to install the Raid driver for my HDD else will have problem installing XPSP2. Laptops no need?? |
